The latest wave of missile attacks on Ukraine’s capital city, Kyiv, has brought into sharp focus Emmanuel Macron’s warning to European leaders about the changing nature of Russian aggression. As France’s president cautioned, Vladimir Putin is intensifying a campaign of hybrid attacks against Europe and France.

This new approach allows Russia to maintain plausible deniability while still inflicting significant damage. The Trump administration’s efforts to mediate peace talks have been met with skepticism by both Ukraine and Russia, raising questions about America’s ability to play a constructive role.
One thing is clear: Europe and the world cannot afford to underestimate Putin’s hybrid war. We must be vigilant, adaptable, and willing to take bold action to counter this new threat. Anything less would be a failure to understand the true nature of modern warfare – and its consequences.
