Ugh, I'm so over how many rom-coms are being pushed on us right now . Like, can't we get some diversity in our TV shows? I mean, I know Bluey is great and all, but it's just a children's show with a cute same-sex relationship tacked on as an afterthought. And Emily in Paris is just so basic - I mean, who travels to France just for the romance?

And don't even get me started on the lack of representation. Where are the shows about single people over 30 who aren't trying to find love at all costs? Like, what about shows that actually feature complex characters with nuanced relationships? I feel like we're just being fed a constant stream of fluffy, simplistic rom-coms that don't reflect real life .

I mean, can't we get some more Richard Curtis-esque comedies, but ones that actually subvert the genre's cliches and offer something new? Like, is it too much to ask for a show that makes me laugh without also making me roll my eyes in frustration?

I'm loving how these new rom-coms are giving me all the feels . I mean, Bluey is adorable, who wouldn't want to watch a show about two dogs in love? But what's really getting my heart going is Trying - it's so relatable, I wish I had a partner like Jason and Nikki trying to adopt a child together . And can we talk about Emily in Paris for a sec? It's got all the clichés, but somehow it works? Like, I know it's not exactly nuanced, but there's just something about Lily Collins as Emily that makes me want to ship her with Gabriel . But honestly, what really gets me is how these shows are bringing back those classic Richard Curtis vibes - Love Actually is still my all-time fave, but Notting Hill is a close second . There's just something so timeless about it...

The thing is, Trying is such an underrated gem - it's so heartwarming and realistic to see Jason and Nikki go through the ups and downs of trying to adopt a child together. And can we talk about how amazing it is that Bluey features a same-sex relationship between two adorable canine characters? I'm also loving the Richard Curtis vibe, who doesn't love a good old-fashioned rom-com with lots of laughs and swoons? Notting Hill and Love Actually are still my all-time faves, but it's great to see new shows taking inspiration from those classic rom-coms .
