In the occupied West Bank, the war continues

A week has passed since a ceasefire was declared in Gaza, but for Palestinians living under occupation in the West Bank, life is no better. The sense of relief and hope that followed the announcement has given way to frustration and despair as violence continues unabated.

Since October 7th, Israeli forces have intensified their brutality, setting up barriers and checkpoints throughout the region, making it almost impossible for Palestinians to access their land or move freely. A friend's little girl was recently denied permission to pick olives with her grandparents due to the ongoing violence, highlighting the surreal nature of this situation.

Palestinian farmers are under constant threat from Israeli settlers, who have launched over 7,000 attacks since October 7th, resulting in dozens of deaths and displacement of thousands. The destruction of 37,237 olive trees has also had a devastating impact on local economies.

But it's not just rural areas that are affected - urban Palestinians are living in unbearable conditions as well. Residents like the author, who live in Rawabi near Ramallah, report being stuck at checkpoints for hours, unable to access basic necessities or travel freely. The barriers and iron gates controlling movement between cities are a constant source of frustration.

The occupation is also stifling Palestinian freedoms. The Al-Aqsa Mosque and Church of the Holy Sepulchre, two sacred sites in Jerusalem, are off-limits to Palestinians due to the lack of permits needed to access them. This has denied an entire generation of young people the opportunity to experience these important sites.

Even at night, Palestinians are not safe from raids by Israeli soldiers, who may break into homes without warning and detain family members. Neighbors have also been terrorized with tear gas canisters for no reason.

The specter of annexation looms large over the West Bank. Israel has controlled nearly half of the region's land since 1967, using confiscation and construction of settlements to expand its control. The latest seizures of land will only serve to deepen this cycle of dispossession.

For Palestinians, the occupation is not just a political issue - it's a matter of daily survival. The lack of access to basic resources like water has led to a water crisis, with Palestinians forced to buy expensive water from Israeli companies while settlers receive far more.

The author fears that Israel's plans for annexation are imminent, which would involve razing Palestinian villages and communities and displacing people towards already-occupied areas. This is the harsh reality of life under occupation - a world where every day brings harassment, intimidation, displacement, and death.

omg this is just heartbreaking πŸ€•πŸ˜’ i cant even imagine how frustrating it must be for ppl to be living like this no freedom no basic human rights just a never ending cycle of violence & fear πŸ’” what's even more sad is that the world is still looking on and not doing enough πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ we need to support our Palestinian friends and family πŸ€— who are going thru so much pain & suffering ❀️ let's raise awareness and put pressure on governments to take action ASAP πŸš¨πŸ‘€

I'm literally heartbroken when I think about this situation πŸ€•. I mean, can you imagine if we had to deal with such restrictions on our own freedom? It's just not right. The fact that these families are being torn apart by checkpoints and barriers is just devastating. And the loss of those olive trees is more than just a loss of livelihood - it's a symbol of the land being taken away from them.

It's also so frustrating when we think about all the Palestinian kids who can't even experience their own cultural heritage sites because of permits and restrictions πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. And the raids at night? That's just terrifying. I feel like we're living in a war zone right here.

I'm not going to sugarcoat it - this occupation is a nightmare, and it needs to come to an end ASAP πŸ’₯. We need to be supporting these families and advocating for their rights, not just talking about it on social media (although, let's be real, that's still important too πŸ˜‚). This isn't just a Palestinian issue; it's a human rights issue.

Wow 🀯 Interesting how life just goes back to normal for Palestinians after the ceasefire, but the real struggle still continues in the West Bank 🌎 It's heartbreaking to hear about the little girl being denied permission to pick olives with her grandparents... that's just cruel πŸ˜” And the fact that Israeli settlers are launching attacks on Palestinian farmers is just unacceptable. The destruction of olive trees and its impact on local economies is huge. People living in Rawabi near Ramallah being stuck at checkpoints for hours, unable to access basic necessities or travel freely? That's just not right 🚫

πŸ€• this situation in Palestine is just heartbreaking it's like the world has forgotten about the daily struggles of ppl living under occuption 🌎

i mean, can u imagine being stuck at a checkpoint for hours cuz u need to pick some olives with ur grandparents?! 😱 that's not just frustrating, thats devastating

and dont even get me started on the land seizures and water crisis 🀯 it's like israel doesnt care about ppl's lives, only about expandin its control

the fact that they're annexeinatin the west bank is just a nightmare come true 😡 i can only imagine how scary it must be for ppl livin in fear of their homes and futures

can we do better? πŸ€” can we find ways to support the ppl of palestine and demand change from our leaders?! 🚫πŸ’ͺ

I'm literally shaking my head over here 🀯... I mean, what even is the point of having a ceasefire if it's just gonna be ignored? It's like Israel's just playing this game of chicken with the Palestinians, where they get to keep pushing the boundaries and see how far they can go before anyone says no. And meanwhile, Palestinians are just trying to survive πŸ€•... I mean, who needs basic necessities like water or freedom when you've got a lovely view of your grandparents' olive trees being denied permission? 🌳 It's not like it's all that complicated, folks... just get some decent permits and let people live their lives in peace, right? πŸ˜’

πŸ€• man this situation in the west bank is insane like how can ppl live like that? daily they have to deal w/ checkpoints & barriers tryna stop them from accessing their own land. & 7k attacks by settlers since october its crazy. & whats w/ these sacred sites like al aqsa being off limits 2 palestinians its like u r treatin ppl like animals 🀯 also the water crisis is real Palestinians gotta pay thru the nose 4 water while israelis get more 4 free it just dont make sense 🚫 my heart goes out 2 these people livin under occupation πŸ’”

πŸ€” I agree with the statement that Palestinians living in the West Bank are still facing a lot of challenges despite the ceasefire declaration last week. The fact that Israeli forces have been setting up barriers and checkpoints is really frustrating for people who want to access their land or move freely. It's like they're being treated like prisoners in their own homes.

But, I'm not sure if we can fully trust the government's promises to improve the situation on the ground. Have they actually done anything tangible to address the issues of settlers' attacks and land confiscation? The numbers seem really high - 7,000+ attacks since October 7th... that's a lot.

I also feel like the international community is not doing enough to put pressure on Israel to stop this occupation. It's not just about Palestinian freedoms, but also about human rights in general. We need to see some real action taken by world leaders to bring an end to this cycle of violence and displacement. 🌎

I'm so worried about what's going on in Gaza right now... πŸ€• It's like, one minute we're saying 'oh no, let's have a ceasefire' and the next thing you know, people are getting hurt again. I think it's time for some real talks between Israel and Palestine, you know? We need to get to the bottom of this occupation and find a way to make both sides feel safe and heard.

And can we talk about the checkpoints for a sec? 🚫 It's like they're not even giving Palestinians basic human rights. I mean, what if your family member has to wait 6 hours just to go shopping? That's mental! 😩 We need to fix this ASAP.

I also think it's time to stop playing politics with people's lives. Annexation is a big deal, and we can't ignore the fact that Palestinians are facing displacement and death every day because of it. πŸ’” It's like they're living in fear, and that's not okay.

And have you noticed how Israel is basically profiting off Palestine? πŸ€‘ They're selling water to them at exorbitant prices while settlers get way more. That's just cruel.

We need to use our voices to make some noise about this. We can't just sit back and watch people suffer like this. It's time for change! πŸ’ͺ

OMG I'm literally shook by what's happening in Gaza & the West Bank πŸ€•πŸ˜© I mean I knew things were bad but to think that Palestinian kids can't even pick olives with their grandparents because of all this violence is just heartbreaking 😭. It's so frustrating that Israel's just setting up more checkpoints & barriers which are just stifling people's freedoms. And don't even get me started on the water crisis 🚽😩 I mean who gets to afford water while others have to go without? And the annexation plans are like totally doomsday for Palestinians πŸŒͺ️πŸ’₯ I just wish someone could do something about it ASAP πŸ’ͺ

OMG u guys i cant even right now 🀯 its likerael is literally playing with ppl lives out there its not just about annexation its about basic human rights u can pick urself but are u livin in a ghetto lol no u r stuck in checkpoints 2 days 2 get 1 bag of flour or somethin how r u sposed 2 survive w/o access 2 basic things like water & electricity? n then theres the olives my friend's lil girl can't even pick olives w/ her grandparents cuz its not safe lol what kinda world r we livin in?

Wow 🀯 this situation in Gaza and the West Bank is just so heartbreaking, i dont think we can imagine how hard it must be for those people living under occupation... its not just about politics or economy but also about basic human rights πŸ™ and freedom of movement, like where r u going to go when u cant even leave ur own neighborhood? πŸ€”

πŸ€• The sad thing is, we can't even pretend like everything's okay when it clearly isn't for Palestinians living under occupation. I mean, think about this: you'd want to know if your house was being taken away from you every day without explanation or reason - that's basically what's happening to them. It's not just a matter of politics; it's a basic human right issue. We need to remember that everyone deserves dignity and respect, regardless of where they're born or live.

I also feel for all the farmers who are losing their livelihoods over something that seems almost surreal - like you can't even pick olives with your grandparents because of war! What's next? 🀯 It just goes to show how broken the system is. We need to take a step back and think about what we'd do if our lives were being dictated by someone else's rules. I mean, would we be okay with that?

πŸ€• I'm still trying to process the situation in Gaza... I mean, it's like, we're talking about a ceasefire that lasted only a week. Can you believe that? πŸ™„ It's like the whole world is watching, but no one's doing anything to help these people. The images of kids being denied permission to pick olives with their grandparents are just heartbreaking πŸŒΏπŸ’”.

And it's not just the Palestinians who are suffering - I'm reading about how Israeli settlers are launching attacks on them too... 7,000 times since October 7th? That's crazy! 🀯 And the number of olive trees destroyed? Like, what even is the point of that? πŸŒ³πŸ˜”

I feel so helpless when I think about it. It's like, we're all just sitting here watching this unfold, and no one's doing anything to stop it. The occupation is just a harsh reality for these people... where every day is a struggle to survive. And the annexation plans? 🚨 Like, are we really just going to stand by and let that happen? I don't think so! πŸ’ͺ
