Afghanistan and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire following intense negotiations mediated by Qatar and Turkey in Doha. The agreement marks the end of a week of fierce clashes along their disputed border, which had claimed dozens of lives.

According to the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both countries have committed to consolidating lasting peace and stability between them through the establishment of mechanisms. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for the coming days to ensure the ceasefire's sustainability and verify its implementation in a reliable manner.

Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar welcomed the deal, stating that it was "a first step in the right direction". He also expressed gratitude towards Qatar and Turkey for their constructive role in facilitating negotiations. The Pakistani delegation has emphasized the need for concrete and verifiable monitoring mechanisms to address terrorism emanating from Afghan soil.

The talks followed a week of violent clashes, which killed dozens and wounded hundreds along the contested 2,600km border. Islamabad had demanded that Kabul rein in rebels who were operating from safe havens in Afghanistan, sparking cross-border fighting. However, both sides have denied each other's accusations, with Pakistan accusing the Afghan regime of allowing armed groups to reside inside Afghanistan.

The recent surge in violence has raised concerns about regional stability and the threat posed by terrorism. The agreement represents a significant step towards de-escalating tensions between two South Asian neighbors who had been at odds since the Taliban seized power in Kabul in 2021.

With the immediate ceasefire in place, both countries are now working towards establishing a lasting peace deal that addresses their long-standing issues and promotes regional stability.

πŸ€” I'm not sure if this ceasefire is all about peace or just a temporary solution to avoid more deaths. The Pakistanis were super demanding that Kabul do something about those rebels, but Afghan officials kept saying they didn't control them. This deal seems like it's being pushed by Qatar and Turkey for their own interests πŸ€‘. I mean, what if this agreement is just a way to get both sides off the hook so they can keep playing the blame game? 😏

πŸ€” just hope this ceasefire holds true πŸ™ pakistan's concerns about terrorism emanating from afghan soil are valid tho 🚨 gotta make sure there's solid monitoring mechanisms in place to prevent it πŸ’― also curious to see how qatar & turkey's role in mediating talks plays out πŸ‘€ and fingers crossed that a lasting peace deal is actually reached 🀞

OMG u no how i was worried bout afghanistan & pakistan 🀯 they've finally agreed on a ceasefire! Qatar & turkey did an amazing job mediating πŸ™ i mean, its not gonna be easy for them to work thru all their issues but at least we got a start 🌞 pakistani deputy pm isahq dar said it was a good 1st step & i'm like yaaas can't wait 2 see the follow-up meeting 🀝 and hopefully they can get those monitoring mechanisms in place ASAP so we don't have another surge in violence πŸ’” its all about stability & peace now πŸ’–

Meh, an immediate ceasefire sounds like a good start I guess πŸ€”. But how long is it gonna last? Pakistan's Deputy PM was kinda vague about what concrete monitoring mechanisms would actually do to address the terrorism issue. Like, are they just gonna slap some new checks in place and call it a day? Or is there actually gonna be some real effort put into making sure it doesn't happen again? And what about all those rebels operating from safe havens in Afghanistan - are we just gonna forget about that part of the deal or is Qatar & Turkey planning on having a follow-up meeting to iron that out too? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ™ finally some good news for once... this cease fire is like a weight has been lifted off our collective shoulders. I mean it's not just about the lives lost on both sides, but also about the families who are suffering because of it.

I'm glad to see Qatar and Turkey stepping in as mediators. Their role shouldn't go unnoticed. It's not always easy to broker peace between two countries with a history like Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Pakistani delegation is right though, concrete monitoring mechanisms need to be put in place to tackle the terrorism issue. I mean it's one thing to agree on a ceasefire, but what about the root cause of the problem? That needs to be addressed too.

It's not all sunshine and rainbows just yet, we still have a long way to go before true peace is achieved. But this is definitely a step in the right direction 🌟

Just what we need - a permanent solution to the whole Afghan-Pakistan thing πŸ™πŸ’―. I'm not saying it's gonna be easy but after all those deaths and whatnot, someone had to crack under pressure πŸ˜…. It's nice to see Qatar and Turkey stepping up as mediators - they've always been pretty diplomatic about these kinds of things 🀝. Still gotta keep an eye on Pakistan wanting concrete guarantees to tackle terrorism emanating from Afghan soil though... that's gonna be a tough nut to crack 🐿️. At least the ceasefire is over for now, let's hope the peace talks actually yield something πŸ’ͺ

OMG, this is like the biggest news ever 🀯! I've been following this conflict for ages and I'm so relieved it's finally coming to an end 😌. Pakistan and Afghanistan have been at war for years and it's crazy to think that they're actually talking again πŸ’¬. I mean, who would've thought that Qatar and Turkey would be the ones to broker peace πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ? It just goes to show that diplomacy can work even in the toughest situations πŸ’ͺ.

I'm also loving how Pakistan is pushing for concrete monitoring mechanisms to tackle terrorism 🚫. That's like, a major step forward in addressing some of the root causes of this conflict πŸ”₯. And it's not just about the violence itself, but about creating a stable region where everyone can thrive 🌈. Fingers crossed that this ceasefire holds and we get to see a lasting peace deal soon πŸ’•. Can't wait for more updates on this one! πŸ˜ƒ

πŸ€” I mean, think about it, this agreement is only possible because of Qatar's influence. If Turkey wasn't involved, who knows if we'd be seeing a ceasefire right now? And what about the monitoring mechanisms? Are they gonna be set up by the Taliban or someone else entirely? It feels like another one of these quick fixes that don't really address the underlying issues. The Pakistani delegation is being super reasonable and asking for concrete measures to tackle terrorism, but are those demands gonna get lost in translation? This whole thing feels like a temporary reprieve from an even bigger problem... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ€” So I'm reading this news about Afghanistan and Pakistan agreeing to an immediate ceasefire and it's kinda reassuring that Qatar and Turkey were involved in mediating talks. But at the same time, there are so many unresolved issues between the two countries - like, how are they gonna make sure the rebels don't get support from Afghan soil? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ And what about all those lives lost along their disputed border? It's not just numbers and stats, it's real people and families affected by this conflict. I'm glad there's a step forward towards de-escalating tensions but I wish they'd focus more on the root causes of the problem rather than just tacking on a ceasefire 🌊

lol what's next gonna be a world peace treaty 🀣 just kidding (kinda). seriously though, these guys have been at it for years and it's about time they figure some stuff out. I mean, who needs borders when you can just chill and trade goods or something? but in all seriousness, this is kinda big news and i'm glad to hear that someone finally took charge of negotiations. Pakistan was getting a bit too salty about those rebel groups on afghan soil, so it's good they're working out some concrete plans to address that. fingers crossed for a lasting peace deal - we don't need any more south asia drama πŸ€ͺ

Ugh I'm literally so relieved this is finally over πŸ™πŸ’¨ I mean can you even imagine the thought of those two nations going at each other for another week? The whole world was just sitting there waiting for someone to die πŸ€• 2,600km of bloodshed and now it's all just... done πŸ’₯ I don't think I could've handled much more of that stress 😩

I'm glad Pakistan is finally getting some recognition about the terror groups in Afghanistan tho πŸ™„ it's time they're held accountable for letting those bad guys run amok. And Qatar and Turkey gettin' the props they deserve for helpin' mediate all this... kudos to them πŸ’―

It's like, we can't even talk about peace without bringin up terrorism 😬 but I guess it's a good start 🀞 that both sides are tryin to work towards that. Fingers crossed these next meetings go smooth and they actually make some concrete plans 🀞

lol what's next gonna be a peace treaty between India and China next 🀣 just kidding but for real can't believe we're living in a world where diplomacy actually works πŸ’ͺ qatar & turkey are like the cool aunts of international relations always mediating stuff 😎 anyway glad Pakistan & Afghanistan got their act together finally after all that fighting can we get some peace now? πŸ™

Yaaas this is amazing news!!! 😊🌟 I'm so relieved that a ceasefire has been reached between Afghanistan and Pakistan. It's great to see Qatar and Turkey stepping in as mediators, they're total heroes πŸ™πŸ’ͺ. I hope the follow-up meeting goes smoothly and that concrete monitoring mechanisms are put in place to tackle terrorism. This is a huge step towards regional stability and peace, let's keep our fingers crossed 🀞🌈. Islamabad and Kabul have been going at each other for ages, it's time for them to put their differences aside and work together πŸ’•.

😌 I'm so relieved to hear that Afghanistan and Pakistan have agreed on an immediate ceasefire! πŸ™ It's about time we see some progress on this border dispute - it was getting way too intense, with dozens of lives lost and hundreds more injured. πŸ’” I mean, who needs all that violence? Not me, that's for sure! πŸ˜’

I'm glad Qatar and Turkey stepped in to help mediate the talks - they're always good at bringing people together and finding common ground. 🀝 And it's awesome to see Pakistan's Deputy PM welcoming the deal and thanking Qatar and Turkey for their help.

Now, I know there are still some concerns about terrorism emanating from Afghan soil, but let's focus on getting that peace deal in place first! πŸ’ͺ We can always work out the details later. The fact that both countries have agreed to consolidating lasting peace and stability between them is a huge step forward. πŸš€ Fingers crossed it all works out and we see some real progress soon! 🀞

πŸ’• just got some amazing news!!! Afghanistan & Pakistan have agreed on an immediate ceasefire πŸ™Œ after Qatar & Turkey stepped in as mediators! This is a huge step forward for the region 🌍, especially considering how intense clashes had gotten along their border πŸ’₯. The talks are all about consolidating lasting peace and stability, which is music to my ears 🎢. I'm super grateful to Qatar and Turkey for playing matchmakers πŸ’•. Now it's time for concrete monitoring mechanisms to tackle terrorism emanating from Afghan soil πŸ”. This agreement feels like a breath of fresh air 😌. It's all about promoting regional stability and addressing long-standing issues between the two neighbors 🀝. Fingers crossed that this peace deal sticks! πŸ’ͺ

Yaaas! I'm so relieved to hear about this ceasefire agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan πŸ™πŸ’•. It's amazing how intense negotiations can lead to such positive outcomes, right? Qatar and Turkey are total lifesavers for a change 😊. Now, let's keep our fingers crossed that the follow-up meeting goes smoothly and we get to see some concrete progress on those monitoring mechanisms πŸ’ͺ. I mean, it's about time Pakistan gets some answers on those terrorism concerns from Afghanistan πŸ€”. And can you believe how quickly they're moving towards a lasting peace deal? It's like, who needs more drama in our lives, right? πŸ˜‰ The fact that both countries are working together is the real MVP πŸ’•.

πŸ€” this whole thing feels super suspicious tbh - like both countries were just waiting for an excuse to start fighting & then Qatar & Turkey swoop in as mediators πŸ™„. But at the same time, i guess it's a good thing something was done about all the deaths along that border 😩. it's gonna be interesting to see if these 'mechanisms' they're talking about actually work... or if this is just another temporary truce πŸ’”.

πŸ™ just hope these talks don't fizzle out like all others before πŸ€” Pakistan needs to show its commitment on counter-terrorism or this whole thing falls apart πŸ’₯

πŸ™Œ I mean, can you believe it?! They actually managed to calm things down after all that chaos! 🀯 It's like a weight has been lifted off their shoulders, right? 😊 The fact that Qatar and Turkey stepped in and helped facilitate negotiations is just amazing - they're like the unsung heroes of peacekeeping πŸ™. And Pakistan's Deputy PM Ishaq Dar is totally on board with this agreement, which is awesome! πŸ’― It's not going to be easy, but at least they're taking steps in the right direction... and who knows, maybe this is just the start of something beautiful 😊.
