When Halloween rolls around, many people turn to their closets, rummage through thrift stores or hastily scour online marketplaces for inspiration – an easy and convenient way to craft a costume in no time. But what if you want more than just something ordinary? To get creative with last-minute costumes that don't require extensive crafting or prep work, here are some of the top ideas from pros Frédérique Arguello, Jeanne Fleming, Machine Dazzle, James & Alexander Gottlieb and Mike Marino.

If all else fails, start off by combining two unlikely things – like yoga pants with zombie makeup. Or go as your partner's worst pet peeve. You can create the perfect last-minute Halloween costume from something in your closet that you may have forgotten about or even borrow one if you're feeling extra lazy.

While store-bought costumes might seem convenient, avoid these by going for more creative ideas that showcase your creativity.

🌑 u guys, i'm already getting anxiety just thinking about halloween next month... thrift stores r gonna be flooded with those cheap costumes & online marketplaces are gonna crash 🤯 anyone got a spare 100 bucks to waste on some overpriced novelty outfit? 😒 and dont even get me started on the "creative" ideas lol, yoga pants w/ zombie makeup? more like lazy Sunday vibes 🛋️

I'm down with this idea of getting creative with last-minute costumes but I gotta say, some of these ideas are a bit... out there 🤔. Like, yoga pants and zombie makeup? Sounds like a weird combo to me 😂. But hey, if you're feeling fancy or just want to troll your partner, go for it! The idea of combining two unlikely things is actually kinda cool, I mean, who wouldn't want to be a zombie in yoga pants 🧠👖. And using something from your closet that you forgot about? That's genius, literally digging out the old stuff from the back of the drawer can lead to some hidden gems 🎉. Just don't expect me to go as my partner's worst pet peeve, I'm good 😂.

omg i still remember back in 2018 i went as a literal "cereal killer" lol what's up with people wearing plain old witch or vampire costumes anyway? making a costume out of something u already have is genius, like using an old cardboard box to create a robot or something! and omg zombie makeup is the best, never thought of that combo but now i wanna try it out 🤪👻 u can do anything with a little creativity!

omg i was thinking of doing a zombie thing but yoga pants w Zombie makeup sounds like an amazing combo!!! and using something from my closet is soooo much easier than trying to make it from scratch 🤪👻

I just got back from the most random road trip to visit my cousin's new cat 🐱🚗 and it made me think about how Halloween is just around the corner... I was browsing through some old costume pics online and saw this one guy dressed as a giant potato 🥔😂, like what's next? A giant bag of chips or something? Anyway, speaking of weird costumes, have you seen those inflatable unicorn horns that people wear to raves? 🦄💃 totally random but I think they're kinda cool.

I love how people get so creative with their Halloween costumes! 💃🕷️ I mean, yoga pants and zombie makeup? That's genius 🤯! And using something you already have in your closet can be really clever too. Like, who says you need to go out shopping at the last minute when you can repurpose stuff you've been holding onto for months. 💡 It's all about thinking outside the box (or in this case, the costume trunk 🎃) and having fun with it!

I gotta say, I'm so over store-bought costumes this year 🙄. They're just so... basic. If you wanna make a real statement on Halloween, why not get creative and repurpose something you already have lying around the house? Like, who says yoga pants can't be zombie makeup?! 😂 It's all about thinking outside the box (or in this case, your closet). And honestly, what's worse than having to explain what that weird costume is to your partner's grandma at the dinner party? 🤣 Just saying...

I'm not really a fan of last minute costumes lol 🤷‍♀️ they just don't feel as cool to me... but i guess its all about having fun and being creative with what you have at home! 💡 like the idea of combining yoga pants with zombie makeup is actually kinda genius 😂. and using something in your closet that you forgot about can be a great way to get inspiration too! 🤔 it's just about thinking outside the box (or in this case, the costume store) 🎃. and hey, if all else fails, who cares if its not perfect? its still gonna be fun with friends 🎉

I love a good DIY challenge 🎨! If you want to go all out but don't wanna spend hours crafting something from scratch, why not get crafty with stuff you already have at home? Like, I did this last year and ended up looking like a total boss – just grabbed some old clothes, makeup, and prosthetics, and voilà! Instant costume. And hey, who needs to buy some boring old mask when you can use a pizza box or a cardboard tube to create something actually unique 🍕💀. It's all about thinking outside the box (or in this case, your closet). Just don't tell my cat I used him as inspiration for my costume last year 😹...

I get why people want to just cop a cheap costume at the mall, but honestly, it's so basic 🤷‍♀️. I mean, how original is that? And yeah, using stuff you got lying around is actually pretty cool, like turning those yoga pants into a zombie look 👻. I've seen some of my friends do that and it's actually really clever. But if all else fails, just get creative with what you're already wearing, like adding some face paint or a hat to change your vibe 🎭. That way, you can still show off your style without breaking the bank 💸

omg i totally get why ppl wanna go all out on halloween but honestly thrift stores can be a treasure trove for creative costumes 🤯 just dig thru some old skirts and tops u never know what ur partner or friend might find comfy & funny lol like, yoga pants w zombie makeup tho? that's genius 😂

lol what's with all these "last minute" tips 🤣 I mean, who needs to create a costume from scratch when you can just raid the nearest thrift store or online marketplaces? And yoga pants with zombie makeup? girl bye 😂 those are some desperate measures! And what's up with going as your partner's worst pet peeve? that's just low 🙅‍♂️. Can't we come up with something more original than "I'm a walking trash fire"? 😂

omg u guys gotta try this idea 😂 - take a t-shirt with a super embarrassing pic from ur past (like that time u wore those ugly socks to school) and just add some ridiculous accessories like sunglasses or a fake mustache! 🤣 it's literally the easiest & most hilarious costume ever 👍 plus u can just improvise the rest of it on the spot... no crafting required 💪

I mean, I love how people get creative with their Halloweens 🎃... but come on, who's got the time or energy to really go all out? I've been there too, grabbing whatever's lying around the house and slapping some makeup on. But hey, if you want a real showstopper, why not dig through your old boxes of thrift store finds? I once found this rad 80s prom dress in my attic that ended up being epic. The key is to think outside the box (or closet!) 🤯... like combining yoga pants with zombie makeup, lol. It's all about embracing the weird and wonderful.

I'm not sold on this "last-minute costume" idea 😐. Like, I get it, sometimes things come up and we gotta think fast. But can't we put some actual effort into it? Thrift stores are fine, but only if you're willing to dig through all that junk to find something remotely decent 🤔. Online marketplaces? Forget about it, scams and low-quality stuff galore 🚫. And don't even get me started on combining random things... yoga pants with zombie makeup? 😂 Yeah no thanks.

What I do like is the idea of using your own creativity (or lack thereof) to come up with something last-minute. Like, if you really can't think of anything, just find something in your closet that's kinda close to what you want to be 🤷‍♀️. But let's not confuse laziness with originality...
