omg I'm so disappointed this is getting out of hand... I get that Indonesia wants to ensure everyone's safety but come on can't we just have a peaceful event? the fact that the Israeli team was even banned in the first place is already super weird and now it feels like they're being singled out for no reason
I don't get why Indonesia is being so strict about this... it's just a bunch of gymnastics athletes from Israel right? They're not even talking politics! And the FIG is like "yeah we can't do anything" but the IOC is all "no way, host country gotta let them play". Can't they just find some middle ground? It's like a big team sport, you know? Safety should be important but so should letting people compete without drama. This whole thing feels like it's causing more problems than it's solving...
i'm really disappointed in the way indonesia handled this situation. i mean, israel's team has nothing to do with any politics and they're just there to compete . it's not fair that they're being singled out like this. the fig should be doing more to protect their rights, imo . but at the same time, i can see why indonesia is being cautious - safety is a big concern especially when we've seen what's happened in other countries . it's just a shame that this has become a huge thing and now the whole gymnastics community is getting dragged into it .
I think it's really puzzling that international sports governing bodies can't come together to create a more cohesive stance on this issue . On one hand, I get why Indonesia wants to prioritize athlete safety, but the fact that groups are being singled out based on nationality is super concerning . The IOC's statement about host countries needing to ensure athletes' participation without discrimination rings true, but it seems like some organizations are still struggling to hold host countries accountable . It'd be awesome if there was a clearer protocol in place for situations like this to prevent future misunderstandings .
can't believe what's going on in indonesia they're basically saying they don't want israeli athletes at the world gymnastics championships just 'cause of politics... that's not cool, man international sports governing bodies need to step in and make sure all nations are treated equally if indonesia wants to host a major event, they gotta prove they can handle it... and what about those athletes who've trained for years? don't deserve to be held hostage by politics
idk how to feel about this whole thing... i mean, indonesia's got a point with their safety concerns but at the same time, it'srael's just trying to represent themselves in the world of gymnastics and they're being shut down like that? it's all so confusing. i think the fig is kinda right about considering safety, but shouldn't they also be promoting inclusivity? and then there's the IOC saying host countries gotta respect everyone's rights, which makes sense... but what happens when those rights clash with safety concerns? it's like, sports are meant to bring people together, not tear them apart.
