CNN has obtained the footage of a fish that's been found at depths previously thought to be impossible for life.

Meet the snailfish, a new species discovered by scientists on an expedition to Japan. The incredible footage shows a creature unlike any other, thriving in the deepest parts of the ocean, with its body stretching over 27,000 feet below sea level.

To put this into perspective that's deeper than Mount Everest is tall.

The remarkable journey was undertaken by researchers from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to study life in the deepest trenches of the ocean off Japan.

This discovery provides valuable insights into the diversity of marine life on our planet, pushing back the boundaries of what we thought was possible for life to exist at such extreme depths.

For more information about this remarkable species and its habitat, check out CNN's full report here.

Whoa ๐Ÿคฏ... I mean, can you even imagine? There's life down there?! I'm literally speechless ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. Like, 27,000 feet is crazy! You could fit like 10 Mount Everests stacked on top of each other and still have room to grow. And for us to think that there wasn't any life at those depths is just mind-blowing ๐Ÿคฏ. It's like our whole understanding of the ocean just got turned upside down ๐Ÿ’ง. I'm all about learning more about this snailfish, what does it eat? How did it adapt? The questions are endless ๐Ÿค”!

๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Who would have thought that life could thrive in the deepest parts of the ocean? The fact that scientists are still discovering new species is a reminder that there's always more to learn about our planet ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’ก

I'm freaking blown away by this lol! like, a snailfish living 27k feet below sea level is INSANE!!! can you even imagine the pressure & temperature conditions they're dealing with? it's mind boggling to think that there are still so many undiscovered species down there ๐Ÿคฏ. and the fact that scientists were able to capture this footage on camera is just crazy. i mean, we've only scratched the surface of what our oceans can hold, and this discovery is a huge reminder of how much more we need to explore & learn about our planet ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’ฆ.

whoa ๐Ÿคฏ just saw this footage of a snailfish that lives like 27k feet deep under the sea... mind blown! ๐ŸŒŠ i mean, we thought those deep-sea trenches were death zones but it turns out there's life down there too? ๐Ÿ˜ฒ that's like discovering a new world on our own planet. what are the chances, right? ๐Ÿค” and to think scientists had to travel that deep to find this thing... talk about dedication! ๐Ÿ’ช they should be hailed as heroes for expanding our knowledge of the ocean and its secrets. can't wait to learn more about these incredible creatures ๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐Ÿค” I'm both impressed and a bit baffled by this discovery ๐Ÿฆ. I mean, 27,000 feet is crazy deep! You have to wonder what other secrets are hiding in the dark depths of our oceans ๐ŸŒŠ. But at the same time, it's not entirely surprising that we'd find life lurking in the shadows like that. We've been exploring these areas for years and still managing to stumble upon new species all the time. Still, this one takes the cake... or should I say, the deep-sea snailfish? ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ˜‚

Yooo, have you guys seen this?! ๐Ÿคฏ The snailfish is literally living 27k feet below sea level! That's deeper than Mount Everest, fam ๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ It's like we're still discovering new species and pushing the boundaries of what we thought was possible. I mean, think about it, scientists from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and NOAA went on this expedition to study life in the deepest trenches of the ocean off Japan... Talk about dedication! ๐Ÿ’ช The footage is insane too, shows this creature thriving like it's nothing. This discovery gives us so much insight into marine life and its diversity... it's wild ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ”ฌ Did you know that the deepest part of the ocean is called the Challenger Deep? It's crazy to think that life can exist there, I mean, we still have so much to learn about our own planet. ๐ŸŒŽ

๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ˜ฒ just imagine bein down that deep no one thought anythin could survive... and it's a snailfish lol what even is that? ๐ŸŒ it's like somethin outta sci-fi. how do they even breathe down there? like, air's basically non existent at that depth ๐Ÿคฏ

๐Ÿ  wow this is mind blowin... 27k feet deep?! i'm literally speechless can you even imagine being that small in the dark cold ocean with no sunlight?? the fact that these scientists were able to capture footage of it is just insane, i mean we thought those depths were uninhabitable for life and yet there's this tiny creature thriving down there... it's like our planet still has so many secrets to uncover ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’ฆ

I'm literally blown away by this new species discovered in Japan ๐Ÿคฏ! I mean, 27,000 feet below sea level? That's just mind-blowing to think about. The fact that scientists were able to find life there, at depths previously thought to be impossible, is just incredible. It makes me wonder what other secrets the ocean has been hiding from us. This discovery definitely opens up new possibilities for research and exploration - it's like, we're still learning so much about our own planet! ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’ก

omg like i'm literally speechless ๐Ÿคฏ can you even believe there's a fish that lives 27k feet below sea level? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ that's deeper than everest lol and the footage is insane I need to see it in person but at the same time it's kinda sad thinking about all those fish living down there with no sunlight ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’ฆ so like what can we do to help protect them? did you know i went scuba diving last year and saw some weird creatures too... anyway back to this snailfish thing... scientists are super smart and stuff but i wish they had more social media presence ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yaaas, can you even imagine living that deep?! ๐Ÿคฏ It's like something outta sci-fi, right? I'm loving the fact that scientists are still finding new species and pushing our understanding of life on Earth... 27k feet below sea level is wild! ๐Ÿ‘€ I mean, Mount Everest is already crazy tall, so to think there's life thriving at that depth is just mind-blowing. ๐Ÿคฏ This discovery is giving me all the feels - it's like we're still exploring the unknown and learning new things every day... what a great world we live in! ๐Ÿ˜

Dude, can you even believe it?! ๐Ÿคฏ This snailfish thingy is like something from a sci-fi movie! 27k feet deep, that's straight-up mind-blowing! I mean, I've seen some deep-sea documentaries in the past, but this is on a whole different level. It's like we're still discovering new species and finding out that there's so much more to our planet than we thought. Reminds me of those old ocean expeditions where they'd just get lost at sea for months. Those guys were real adventurers, you know? ๐ŸŒŠ Anyway, this discovery is crazy cool, I'm hyped to learn more about it!
