Black Phone 2 review – hit horror sequel lumbers toward Elm Street

Ugh, i just watched this movie with my squad and honestly it was so booooring!!! The Grabber guy is just so... basic . I mean, where's the depth? He's just some creepy dude who screams a lot and wears a mask. Can't he be more complex than that? And don't even get me started on the plot it's like they took every horror cliche and mashed them all together into one big mess.

I also loved how they tried to make it so "atmospheric" with that 8mm texture thingy, but it just came across as try-hard . And can we talk about the setting? It's like they took a Christian camp and just... went there . I mean, i'm all for exploring themes of faith vs darkness, but not in this movie .

Anywayz, if you're looking for a good horror movie, keep it movin' . This one is so meh

The Grabber is so generic and Ethan Hawke just can't bring the charisma that Freddy Krueger has . And what's up with the alpine Christian camp setting? It's like they took every horror movie cliche and mashed them all together . I also don't get why they went for a religious theme - it feels so forced . The 8mm texture effect is kinda cool, but it just doesn't make up for the rest of the boring plot . Overall, I'm just gonna stick to The Black Phone if you ask me

I dont get it , I loved the first one but this sequel is like they took all the scary parts and replaced them with some weird Christian camp vibes and then they tried to make The Grabber scarier by making him more generic , honestly, Ethan Hawke's character is still super cool but not even that can save this mess . I mean, who thought it was a good idea to put 8mm texture all over the film? it feels like they're trying too hard to be artsy and it just comes across as whack . Overall, if you liked The Black Phone then you might wanna check out some other horror movies but this one's gonna leave you bored .

omg, Blumhouse really dropped the ball with this one ...the Grabber is so lame he's literally the horror equivalent of a participation trophy . I just got back from the most random road trip with friends and we saw the weirdest roadside attractions - this giant statue of a chicken wearing sunglasses it was like something out of a dream or a fever dream or something! We also stopped at this tiny town where they have an annual pie-eating contest I swear, I've never seen so many people stuffing their faces with apple pie in one sitting . It's experiences like these that remind me how much joy can be found in the absurdities of life
