The leaked Young Republican chats were shocking. The MAGA response was just as important.

In the wake of revelations about racist, antisemitic, and misogynistic conversations among Young Republican leaders, the response from MAGA stalwarts has been telling. The bombshell Politico report, based on 2,900 pages of Telegram messages, exposed a culture where bigotry was not just tolerated but celebrated among these future leaders.

What's striking is how mainstream this ugliness appears to be within the MAGA movement – even as some conservative-leaning figures seem more interested in downplaying or defending it. A stark contrast from pre-Trump America, where such talk would have been met with near-universal condemnation. The normalization of rank bigotry has become a hallmark of Trump's presidency.

Vice President JD Vance's comments on "The Charlie Kirk Show" were particularly egregious. He attempted to deflect attention by urging others to focus on real issues rather than juvenile antics in group chats. Vance, 41, is only six years older than the oldest member of the chat, and many participants had impressive professional credentials. The fact that these conversations took place among adults, not just kids, underscores the broader problem.

The messages revealed a culture where racist, antisemitic, and violent rhetoric circulate freely – and where the Trump-era loosening of political norms has made such talk feel less taboo among those positioning themselves as party leaders. This is eerily reminiscent of Nazi Germany, with language that's too often dismissed or downplayed by those who claim to be on the right side of history.

Leaders in MAGA media and politics seem more interested in dodging the issue than confronting their own bigotry. Even those who decry it most vociferously – like Ben Shapiro – have historically promoted figures whose rhetoric has been more hateful than helpful. The attempt to conflate antisemitism with illiberalism rather than acknowledge it as a problem is a perfect example of this evasion.

As the Supreme Court seems poised to chip away at the Voting Rights Act, allowing Southern red-state Republicans to gerrymander minority-majority districts out of existence and flip Democratic seats, the normalization of racism poses an existential threat to America. The bottom line is that bigotry is part of the MAGA movement – not a fringe view held by outliers, but a core part of its ideology.

The silence from mainstream conservatives on this issue only underscores how far the party has strayed from traditional American values. By refusing to acknowledge the normalization of racism, they're not just defending bigots; they're also undermining their own moral authority and threatening the very foundations of American democracy.

man this is like the 90s all over again you know how we used to talk about how racist stuff was always on the down low but now it's out in the open and it's just...wow. i remember back then we thought we were making progress but i guess we were just delaying the inevitable. the fact that these young reps are so into white supremacy and antisemitism is crazy. and don't even get me started on JD Vance he sounds like something out of a bad sitcom. what's up with this normalization of hate tho? it's like they're trying to recreate some kind of dystopian future or something 🤯

idk how much more clear it gets - these young Reps are basically white nationalists 🤦‍♂️. I mean, come on, 2900 pages of Telegram messages that show a culture where they're just straight up celebrating hate speech? It's wild to me that some folks think this is just a "juvenile antics" thing and not a legit problem. Newsflash: this ain't high school drama, it's America we're talkin' about 🇺🇸. The fact that these conversations took place among adults with impressive credentials just makes it even creepier. I'm not buying the whole "let's focus on real issues" narrative from JD Vance - if you're gonna be a leader in this party, you gotta own your values, no matter how toxic they are 💯. We need to wake up and realize that the MAGA movement is basically just another name for white supremacy 🚨

🤕 I'm still trying to process what I just read about this whole thing... it's like, you have these leaders who are supposed to be representing America and yet they're spewing out all this hate speech and racism 🤢. It's like, how can we even call ourselves a civilized country when our politicians are celebrating this stuff? And the worst part is that some of them are trying to downplay it or make excuses for it... like JD Vance on that show, he was dodgy about it and just tried to shift the conversation away from the real issues. 🙄

And what really gets me is how normalized this ugliness has become within the MAGA movement... even if some people are trying to distance themselves from it, it's still a big part of their ideology 🤦‍♂️. It's like, we used to think that politicians were supposed to be above all this stuff, you know? But now it seems like they're just as bad or worse than the haters out there. 💔

I mean what's up with these youngin's? 🤦‍♂️ I'm genuinely shocked that some grown adults would think it's okay to spew that kinda hate speech. Like, we already knew Trump was a divisive figure, but this is on another level. It's not just the fact that they're talking trash about minorities and women, it's that they think they can get away with it because of their politics.

And JD Vance is just the cherry on top 🍒 - his excuse for all this? Focus on 'real issues'? Give me a break. That dude's trying to deflect from the fact that he's part of the problem, not the solution. It's time for some real accountability within the MAGA movement, and I'm not seeing it.

The whole thing is just so eerily familiar - remember how the Nazis used to talk like this too? 🤔 Not exactly a comforting thought when you're looking at these grown adults spewing hatred online. Anyway, hope more people start speaking up about this... but probably won't 💁‍♀️

I gotta say, I'm torn about this whole thing 🤔👀. On one hand, it's crazy how normalized bigotry has become in the MAGA movement - like, what's going on, folks? Can't we all just get along? 😒 But at the same time, I don't think it's entirely fair to paint the entire party with this brush 🖌️. Some of these people are genuinely concerned about issues like immigration and the economy, but they're getting drowned out by the hate speech 🗣️.

And can we talk about how some conservatives are trying to downplay or deflect from this stuff? Like, JD Vance's comments on that show were really cringeworthy 🤦‍♂️. But at the same time, I think it's also true that some of these leaders are just too scared to speak out against bigotry because they're worried about getting labeled as "woke" or something 😳.

I guess what I'm saying is, this issue is super complicated and can't be reduced to just a simple "good vs evil" narrative 🤯. We need more nuanced conversations and less people trying to use big words like "illiberalism" to cover up their own racism 🤷‍♂️.

I'm not surprised by these revelations at all 🙃. I mean, who wouldn't want to associate themselves with a culture that celebrates hate speech? 😏 It's not like we've seen this before in history books or anything... The fact that some people are trying to downplay it or shift the focus is just laughable. Like, hello, you can't just ignore the elephant in the room and expect everyone else to do your dirty work for you 🐘. And JD Vance's comments? Wow, what a stand-up guy 😎. I'm sure his professional credentials have nothing to do with why he felt comfortable saying those things...

🤯 Just saw that report on those racist convo's in Telegram messages and I'm SHOOK. The fact that these conversations were happening among future leaders and adults 🤔 is super disturbing. It's not like this is a fringe thing, it's actually the core of the MAGA movement - biggie 🚨. And the response from conservatives is just dodgy 💁‍♂️, trying to downplay or defend it. I mean, come on, you can't just sweep this under the rug and expect everything to be okay 😅. The normalization of racism is a HUGE problem and we need to address it ASAP 🕰️. Leaders in the MAGA movement need to take responsibility for their words and actions, not just whitewash them away 💧. This is seriously eerie 🤖, like something out of Nazi Germany... how did we even get here? 😨

OMG u gotta be kiddin me!!! how can people in their 40s talk like that 🤯👀?! Vance's excuse about focus on real issues is weak sauce... like, didn't he have better things to do than make racist comments in a group chat? 😂 and can we pls stop comparing this to Nazi Germany already? it's not like that... but at the same time i get why people are sayin it. the normalization of racism is SERIOUS business 🤕

🤯 This is getting more and more disturbing by the day... I mean, 41 years old and still spewing that kind of hate? How do we even get to this point? The fact that these conversations were on a group chat with "impressive professional credentials" just makes it worse. It's not like they're just some wild card bunch, they're supposed to be leaders... And the Trump era has really made a difference here - all those years of normalized hate speech and now we're seeing the consequences 🤕. The whole thing is so eerily reminiscent of Nazi Germany...

💔 those conversations are straight up messed up... like a bad acid trip, but instead of colors and patterns, you get hate and ugliness. JD Vance's tryin to deflect is just weak sauce 🤷‍♂️... if he can't own his thoughts, why should we trust him? The fact that it was in group chats with adults who had actual credentials just shows how messed up the whole system is 🚫... normalization of racism = existential threat to America. Can't let them whitewash this stuff and pretend like everything's fine when it's not 💯
