Mourning a Legacy: Tung Chee hwa's Passing in Hong Kong Hong Kong leader John Lee joined thousands of mourners at a vigil for Tung Chee hwa, the city's first chief executive who passed away on September 8.
The event was held at the Hong Kong Funeral Home in North Point. Tung led Hong Kong through some of its most tumultuous years, including the Asian financial crisis in 1997 and the SARS outbreak in 2003.
Despite these challenges, under his leadership, Hong Kong experienced a remarkable V shaped rebound in its economy, showcasing the city's resilience.
