Yvette Cooper Pledges Fast-Track Care for MND Patients

A Glimmer of Hope for MND Patients in the UK's Broken Social Care System Yvette Cooper's announcement of a fast track pathway for motor neurone disease (MND) patients is a long overdue recognition of the catastrophic failures in our social care system.

Her visit to a Leeds care centre named after Rob Burrow, a former England rugby league star who died from MND complications in 2024, highlighted the human cost of delay and fragmentation.

The fast track pathway was developed with the Motor Neurone Disease Association and other stakeholders. However, this is merely a Band Aid on a system that has been rotting for decades.
