Bondi follows Trump’s directive, taps prosecutor to examine Epstein’s Democratic ties

Pam Bondi, the Attorney General of Florida, has taken a keen interest in investigating former President Bill Clinton and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers over their alleged ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The unusual request comes at a time when disclosures about Epstein's scandal are fueling fresh controversy surrounding President Donald Trump.

As part of this new investigation, Bondi has assigned U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton to lead the probe, citing his experience as a former Wall Street lawyer and chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission during Trump's first term. The decision has sparked concerns that Trump is using his executive power to target perceived Democratic foes.

The investigation appears to be an extraordinary example of how Trump administration officials are allegedly "corrupting" the Justice Department, according to Joyce Vance, a former federal prosecutor and MSNBC legal analyst. Vance pointed out that it is unusual for presidents to direct attorneys general to open criminal cases under partisan circumstances, and that the DOJ typically does not publicize such investigations.

Bondi's move has also raised eyebrows due to its timing, as federal law enforcement officials had previously stated that there was no need for further investigations into anyone. However, Trump published a social media rant about Epstein just four months ago, prompting Bondi to assign Clayton to lead the probe within hours.

This latest development underscores the long-standing accusations of Trump's efforts to exert control over federal law enforcement and call the shots at the Justice Department. Critics have accused him of using his executive power to target perceived enemies, including Clinton and Summers, over their alleged ties to Epstein.

It is worth noting that Trump has maintained a distance from the investigation, despite allegations against him being included in this week's releases of Epstein emails. The investigation appears to be an unusual example of how the president's administration is using its executive power to target perceived Democratic foes.

This whole thing is just crazy 🤯. I mean, come on, Bill Clinton and Larry Summers, allegedly linked to Jeffrey Epstein? That's some wild stuff. But what really gets me is that Trump is trying to use this investigation as a way to take down his enemies. It's like, dude, you're in trouble with the law yourself, why are you trying to corner your opponents? 🙄

And let's not forget about the timing of all this. Trump suddenly decides to care about Epstein's victims just four months ago, and now Pam Bondi is investigating Clinton and Summers out of the blue? It sounds like a coordinated effort to distract from his own troubles.

As for Jay Clayton leading the investigation, I'm not buying it. He was appointed by Trump himself, after all! This whole thing feels like a setup to me. The Justice Department should be doing its own thing, not being used as a tool for Trump's personal vendetta. It's just another example of how this administration is trying to politicize everything 🤦‍♂️.

I'm just waiting to see what other skeletons come out of the closet with this investigation. I have a feeling it's going to be a long and messy ride... 😬

I'm low-key freaked out by this whole thing 🤯. It feels like Trump's trying to micromanage everything, even when it comes to law enforcement. I mean, why would a former Attorney General like Pam Bondi just decide to start investigating Bill Clinton and Larry Summers out of the blue? It just seems like another example of how he's using his power to go after people who disagree with him.

I'm also worried about the timing of this investigation. If federal law enforcement officials had already deemed it unnecessary, why did Bondi have to step in and start the probe again? It feels like Trump is trying to push a narrative that his enemies are somehow involved in some kind of scandal. And what's even more concerning is that Clayton, the lead investigator, has experience on Wall Street – that's just too suspicious for me 😒.

This whole thing smells like another example of Trump trying to exert control over the Justice Department and silence his critics. It's not just about the investigation itself, it's about who gets investigated and who gets away with things 🙅‍♂️.

I'm worried about where all this is headed 🤔... I mean, it's like Trump's got a personal vendetta against these guys and he's just going around assigning his buddies to make sure they get investigated. Jay Clayton? Really? He's got some history with the SEC and that's it? And Bondi just jumps on this bandwagon without even doing her due diligence? It's all just too convenient... especially with Trump trying to distance himself from the whole thing 🙄.

And let's be real, this is just another example of how politicians love to use investigations to distract us from their own scandals. Meanwhile, actual corruption and wrongdoing goes on behind the scenes. I'm not saying it's necessarily a bad thing for the investigation to happen or anything, but come on... can't we have some objectivity here? 🤷‍♂️

omg I'm getting so anxious thinking about this... it sounds like Trump is trying to manipulate the system and use his power to silence anyone who might disagree with him 🤯. It's not okay when politicians try to strong-arm their way into investigations like this. And can we talk about how suspicious it is that Bondi assigned Jay Clayton to lead the probe right after Trump posted that rant about Epstein? it just feels like a coordinated effort to distract us from his own issues. I'm so worried about what's going on with our justice system and how it's being manipulated by the president 🤕

Trump's got a lot of 'splainin' to do...

I'm totally fascinated by this whole thing 😂🤯. So Pam Bondi just goes and assigns a U.S. Attorney to investigate Bill Clinton and Larry Summers because... Trump wanted him to? 🙄 It's like she's playing puppet master with the Justice Department, using her power to get back at some perceived enemies. And now Jay Clayton is leading the probe? That's not exactly the most reassuring news, you know? 😒 I mean, we've already had enough of Trump's interference in law enforcement... what's next? Is he gonna start playing judge and jury himself? 🤔

I'm low-key worried about this whole thing 🤔. It sounds like Trump's just trying to use his powers for personal gain and take out some of his enemies on the side. I mean, Clinton and Summers were already pretty unpopular among Republicans, so it's suspicious that they're getting targeted now, especially with the timing of it all. And what's with Bondi taking this on? She's a friend of Trump's from Florida politics... it just doesn't feel right 🙅‍♀️. The fact that Vance is saying Clayton is being used for partisan purposes makes total sense to me. Can we just have some real, impartial justice around here for once? 😩

can't believe Pam Bondi is doing this!!! 🤯 like what's next? her and Trump are besties or something?! 🙄

and another thing, Jay Clayton leading this investigation? come on man! he's got ties to Wall Street and now he's investigating Epstein? that's not even a real investigation anymore 😂. it's all about targeting those who crossed Trump... total abuse of power 💪.

I'm not saying Clinton and Summers didn't do something wrong, but do we really need an Attorney General investigation led by someone with his background?! 🤔 this whole thing just reeks of politics and corruption 🚮. Bondi is just playing right into Trump's hands... it's like they're making a game out of "who can be the most corrupt" 🏆

Umm I'm not sure about this at all 🤔... like if Bondi's investigating Clinton and Summers over their ties to Epstein, doesn't that kinda look like a partisan thing to do? 🤷‍♂️ But on the other hand, Jay Clayton is a total expert on Wall Street, so maybe he's just super impartial... wait, nope! I mean, I've seen him testify before Congress and get roasted by Dems, so maybe not that impartial 😜. And what's with the timing? Like, if there wasn't already a firestorm about Epstein, why bring it up now? 🚨 But then again, Trump did just tweet about Epstein... maybe he's trying to distract us from something else... or is he? 🤯 I'm so confused now 😂.

idk why trump thinks he can just use his exec power 2 go after ppl like clinton & summers. its gettin old. doesnt he no theres boundaries? i mean, u cant just assign someone 2 lead an investigation outta thin air & expect it 2 be legit. thats not how the system works 🙄. and what's up with this timing? trumps been all over epstein on social media for months & now bondi shows up & assigns clayton 2 lead the probe. like, come on dude. cant u see youre just tryin 2 deflect attention frm ur own problems?

🤔 what's up with trump wanting to dig into clinton & summers' ties to epstein? it seems like just another way for him to try to intimidate ppl and get ahead 🚫 he thinks he can just tweet his way out of this one, but it ain't gonna work 🔥 ugh, this whole thing just reeks of a witch hunt. if trump is worried about being targeted, maybe he should focus on clearing his own name first 😂

🤔 Come on, Bondi's not even doing her own homework here. She's just trying to get under Clinton and Summers' skin, hoping it'll stick in the minds of voters next election. Newsflash: it won't work that way! This whole thing reeks of politics, plain and simple. Clayton's been handed a case with shaky grounds, if you ask me...

Ugh 🤯, I'm still trying to wrap my head around this latest development... so Pam Bondi just assigns U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton to investigate Clinton and Summers over their alleged ties to Epstein? Like, what even is the point of that? 😒 It's like Trump is trying to distract us from his own scandals by going after other people 🤷‍♂️.

And let's be real, this investigation has all the hallmarks of a politicized witch hunt 🔮. I mean, we're talking about an Attorney General who was appointed by Trump himself 👀, and now she's leading the investigation into Clinton and Summers? It's like she's being paid to play both sides 💸.

I'm also super annoyed that this investigation is happening at the same time as all these other Epstein-related revelations 🤯. Like, can't we just focus on one thing for once? 😩 It feels like Trump's administration is trying to create a whole bunch of noise and chaos in order to get attention away from their own shady dealings 📢.

Overall, I'm just so underwhelmed by this entire situation 😐. It feels like we're being played by the Trump administration at every turn 🎭.

I think it's super worrying when politicians start meddling with investigations like this 🙅‍♂️. It's one thing to express concern or ask questions, but assigning a high-profile prosecutor to lead an investigation based on social media rants from the president? That just smells of politics as usual 😒.

As for Bill Clinton and Larry Summers, I don't think they've done anything wrong here 🤷‍♂️. We should let investigations be carried out fairly and independently without fear of retribution or partisan favoritism 🔍. The fact that Trump has kept a distance from this investigation doesn't necessarily mean he's not involved, but it does make me wonder if there's more to the story than we know 🤔.

Can we please just focus on getting to the truth and holding people accountable for their actions? Less drama and more facts, please! 😊

omg i am literally shocked by this news 🤯 like what even is going on with trump and epstein?? he's been making these moves for years now and it's so suspicious... i mean i know bondi's just doing her job but come on, assigning a wall street lawyer to lead the investigation? that's some shady stuff right there 😏

and can we talk about how this is all coming at such a weird time? like, just four months ago trump was tweeting about epstein and now suddenly bondi is on it? i need answers 🤔

it's also super weird that no one else is talking about this... where's the senate in on this? shouldn't they be asking questions? anyway, i'm gonna keep following this story and see what else comes out of the woodwork 📚

I'm so confused about this whole thing with Bill Clinton and Larry Summers 🤔... I mean, I know they're not exactly good guys or anything, but come on! Can't we just focus on something else for once? Like, have you seen that new Netflix show everyone's been talking about? I heard it's pretty good... or is that a rumor? 😊 Anyway, back to this whole thing... isn't it weird that the Attorney General of Florida is investigating them? What even is going on there? 🤷‍♀️ Is Jay Clayton just going to sit back and do nothing while they dig into their past? That sounds super boring if you ask me 😴

🤔 So I'm reading about this and I just don't get it... why is Trump doing this? Like, Bill Clinton was already out of office, but he's still being investigated by the Attorney General in Florida? And Larry Summers too? What's the point of all this? 🤑 Is it really about Epstein or is it just an excuse for Trump to go after people who disagree with him? 💔 And what's up with Jay Clayton leading the investigation? Is he not supposed to be impartial? 🤷‍♂️ This whole thing just seems like more of Trump's drama... 😒

OMG I'm literally shook by this news!!! 🤯 It seems like Trump is really trying to exert his control over the Justice Department, and it's getting to the point where he's basically directing the AG on who to investigate 🙅‍♂️ Like, isn't that a little too much? 😬 And to make matters worse, this comes at a time when they're already dealing with all these other controversies surrounding Epstein... it just feels like the President is trying to distract us from his own issues 🙃

what's up with this? Pam Bondi just assigns Jay Clayton to investigate Bill Clinton and Larry Summers, but she didn't do it after Trump tweeted about Epstein last month... does she think we're stupid or something 🤔? I don't get why the DOJ has to publicize these investigations either. Can't they just keep it on the down low like normal? And what's with Trump not being more involved in this whole thing? He's always saying we need accountability, but now he's using his power to target people he doesn't like... 🤷‍♂️
