FAA expects busiest Thanksgiving travel period in 15 years

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is predicting that this Thanksgiving travel period will be the busiest in 15 years, with millions of passengers expected to fly across the US. According to the FAA's latest air traffic forecast, the holiday weekend from November 20-23 will see a surge in air travel, with peak flight volumes likely to occur on Wednesday and Sunday.

This comes as no surprise, given the long history of Thanksgiving being one of the busiest travel periods in the US. However, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on air travel, this year's forecast is even more impressive.

"It's going to be a crazy week," said Karen Hua, CBS News reporter who joined us live from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport. "With millions of people traveling for the holiday, we can expect long security lines, crowded airports, and potentially even some flight delays."

The FAA has warned that passengers should plan ahead and arrive early at the airport, as well as be prepared for potential disruptions due to weather or other factors.

While it may seem daunting, many travelers are making the most of the travel season. "I'm excited to spend Thanksgiving with my family," said one traveler. "We're looking forward to a fun-filled holiday weekend, and we're planning on enjoying every moment of it."

For those who will be flying, here are some tips for making your Thanksgiving trip as smooth as possible:

* Arrive early at the airport, allowing plenty of time for security checks
* Consider booking a morning flight to beat the crowds
* Pack light and avoid checking bags to minimize wait times
* Keep an eye on weather forecasts and plan accordingly
* Stay informed about any travel advisories or updates

As we head into the holiday weekend, one thing is clear: this Thanksgiving will be one for the books. Whether you're flying or driving, it's essential to stay prepared, plan ahead, and make the most of your time with loved ones.

So, buckle up and get ready for a wild ride – it's going to be a busy week on our nation's roads and skies!

Ugh, can we talk about how the FAA's forecast is probably just getting worse because of their website being super slow again? I mean, I'm trying to check flight prices and get travel tips for Thanksgiving, but nope, I'm stuck waiting for like 30 seconds before I can even see the info πŸ•°οΈ. And don't even get me started on how hard it is to find decent travel deals with all these ads popping up everywhere. Can't they just make the forum more user-friendly? 😩
