For a refreshing dessert, you might consider whipping up some frosty drops in the form of sour cherry and vermouth granita or ouzo and citrus sorbet.

The Greeks have long been known for their love of sweets and desserts that incorporate local ingredients such as the 'vissino', or sour cherry. This particular combination can be found in a variety of traditional Greek desserts, including the granita mentioned here.

To make your own version, start by dissolving 55g of caster sugar into 60ml of lemon juice, then add in two tablespoons of sour cherry syrup and one cup of sour cherry juice. Once everything is well combined, allow the mixture to cool down before adding it to a shallow tray, which will then be placed in the freezer for about an hour.

It's not uncommon to see Greeks enjoying their granita on warm summer days with good company by its side. And when served properly, this dessert can add a delightful twist to any traditional meal.

In addition to the sour cherry and vermouth granita, we've also got the ouzo and citrus sorbet recipe to try out for yourself. While it may take up more time than the granita - about an hour and 30 minutes - in the ice cream machine, you'll find that it's worth every minute of the effort.

Here, you'll need to combine caster sugar with some freshly squeezed mandarin juice, as well as orange juice, before adding in 80ml of ouzo. The mixture is then poured into an ice-cream machine and churned until everything comes together nicely.

The end result will be a refreshing dessert that's both unique and sure to please even the pickiest eaters. When you've finished making it, simply scoop out what you need and serve in bowls for everyone to enjoy.

I'm loving this Greek dessert vibe 🍦🇬🇷! Who knew vermouth could be a thing in desserts? I'm still on the fence about trying ouzo in my food, but hey, sour cherry granita sounds like a winner for warm summer days ☀️. Anyone tried making it before? How's the texture and flavor? Maybe we can swap recipes and get some feedback?

omg i just tried this vermouth granita thingy last weekend at my friend's summer BBQ and OMG it was SOOOO good!!! 🤩 i was a bit skeptical about the ouzo at first but like literally now its one of my fave desserts ever!! i love how refreshing it is on a hot summer day, reminds me of all those greek island vacations i took with my bf last year 💕 btw has anyone tried making that sorbet recipe?

🍦 I'm all about trying new desserts, especially ones that incorporate seasonal ingredients like sour cherries! The idea of a granita or sorbet with vermouth or ouzo sounds amazing - the citrusy twist is just what we need on hot summer days 🌞. And you're right, it's always more fun to enjoy these kinds of treats with friends and family 👫. I'm definitely going to give both recipes a shot and see which one becomes my new fave! 😋

I'm so down for trying these desserts! 🤤 The idea of incorporating local ingredients like vissino (sour cherry) into traditional Greek desserts is genius. It's amazing how a simple granita can add such a delightful twist to any meal on a warm summer day ☀️. And the ouzo and citrus sorbet recipe sounds intriguing - I love that it uses freshly squeezed mandarin juice! 🍊 One thing I'd suggest adding would be some extra info about substituting ingredients, like if you can't find vissino or want to try a different type of liquor. But overall, these recipes look super refreshing and fun to make 💡

omg u gotta try this ouzo and citrus sorbet recipe!! 🍦👌 i mean like, its literally a game changer for warm summer days when ur hangin with friends 🤩 the combination of ouzo and citrus is so unique but also works so well together 🤔 i made it last wkend and now i cant get enough of it 😋

omg have u ever tried those new frozen yogurt shops that just opened up downtown? i swear their strawberry cheesecake flavor is literally life changing 🍦👌 anyway, speaking of desserts, has anyone else tried making homemade ice cream from scratch? it's actually pretty easy and super fun 🎂🍰

omg u guys dont u think its so funny how we always think of desserts as fancy & elegant but in reality greeks are all about those sweet treats on the beach with friends? like, who needs fancy dinner parties when ur got a refreshing granita on a hot summer day? 😂 and can we talk about vermouth in desserts? i mean i know its not for everyone but there's somethin about that savory flavor mixin w/ sour cherries that just makes sense 🤔. and have u ever had ouzo & citrus sorbet? game changer, im tellin ya!

🤔 I'm not sure about this... where did this recipe come from? I mean, I love Greek food and all, but vermouth and ouzo just seem like weird ingredients for dessert 🍹. And 55g of caster sugar into 60ml of lemon juice sounds like a lot of sugar to me... shouldn't it be more balanced? Not trying to be negative or anything, but I'd need some credible sources before I try making this granita 😊

So they're trying to sell us on this 'Greek desserts' vibe, but let's get real - who really cares about some ancient tradition when we've got a modern food crisis brewing? I mean, have you seen the state of Greece lately? The economy is struggling and yet they're over here promoting their sweets like it's gonna fix everything. It's just more government spin if you ask me 🤔💸. And don't even get me started on the time commitment required for these recipes - an hour and a half to make one dessert? That's just ridiculous. Can we focus on something that really matters, like affordable healthcare or universal education? 🚫💖

omg i love this idea of using vermouth in a dessert 🍸! its like a total game changer for summer vibes. i can totally see why the greeks would incorporate their own spirits into desserts - it adds such a unique twist. and that sour cherry granita sounds AMAZING btw 🍦👌

omg I'm so down for this combo 🤩! Sour cherry is literally my fave flavor ever, and adding vermouth is genius 💡🍸! That Greek granita sounds like the perfect summer treat, especially with some ouzo and citrus sorbet on the side 🌞👫. The idea of making it at home is actually kinda chill too - just chill that mixture in the freezer for a bit & voila! 🎉

OMG I'm totally obsessed with Greek desserts like this! 🍰👌 The idea of pairing vermouth with sour cherry sounds insane but also kinda genius? 🤯 I mean who needs fancy restaurant desserts when you can make your own at home?! 💫 Also, I love how the Greeks incorporate their local ingredients into these traditional desserts. It's so cool to see them making use of what they have! 😊 And let's be real, sipping on that ouzo-infused sorbet sounds like a total summer vibe 🌞🍹 Can't wait to give both recipes a try and see which one becomes my new fave dessert 🤔
