Col. Michael Randrianirina has taken the oath of office as Madagascar's new president, following a military takeover that led to the impeachment and flight of his predecessor, President Andry Rajoelina. In a ceremony at the Constitutional Court in Antananarivo, the capital city, Randrianirina thanked the young protesters who took to the streets for weeks, calling them "the driving forces of the nation" who helped bring about change.

The protests, which started last month, were initially organized by Gen Z Mada, a youth movement that had been angered by persistent power and water shortages. The military's intervention has sparked international concern, with some labeling it as a coup. However, Randrianirina has assured the nation that he will work to reform the country's administrative, socio-economic, and political systems.

Randrianirina's transition into office comes after weeks of protests and demonstrations by Gen Z Mada and other groups calling for change in Madagascar. The protesters had hoped that Rajoelina would simply resign and pave the way for a smooth transition to democracy, but instead, he clung to power, dissolving his government and holding series of dialogues with different groups.

The new president has outlined his top priorities, including launching an investigation into the state-owned water and power company, Jirama, as well as reforming the country's agricultural sector. He has also promised to hold elections within two years, which is seen as a key step towards restoring democracy in Madagascar.

Despite concerns about the legitimacy of Randrianirina's takeover, there are cautious optimism about his leadership. The international community has been watching the situation closely, with many countries expressing their support for a peaceful transition and democratic governance in Madagascar.

omg u guyz!! 🀯 so madagascar just got a new president after weeks of protests & military intervention lol what's good? col michael randrianirina seems like a cool dude who actually listens to the youth movement gen z mada... i mean, its crazy that they had to take to the streets for months to get change, but i guess sometimes thats whats needed πŸ˜‚. anywayz, his priorities sound pretty legit - reforming jirama & the agricultural sector, holding elections in 2 yrs... thats a great start towards restoring democracy πŸŒŸπŸ‘

πŸ€”πŸŒŽ I'm trying to keep an open mind about this new president πŸ™ Col. Randrianirina's take on Gen Z Mada being "the driving forces of the nation" is pretty cool πŸ‘ they were definitely the spark that ignited change πŸ”₯πŸ’ͺ now it's up to him to deliver πŸ’ͺπŸ‘€ I'm curious to see how he'll tackle those key reforms πŸ“ŠπŸ’Ό and holding elections within two years sounds like a good step towards stability 🌈😊 fingers crossed for Madagascar πŸ‡²πŸ‡¬! πŸ™

Wow 🀯 this is crazy stuff is happening in Madagascar I mean, it's like one minute you got your president and the next he's outta there and some new guy takes over and now everyone's waiting to see if things are gonna get back on track for them especially after all that protest noise from Gen Z Mada I guess only time will tell how it all shakes down

Ugh, I'm still trying to wrap my head around this military coup in Madagascar 🀯. It's not exactly reassuring to see a new president taking power after weeks of protests and unrest. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's great that Gen Z Mada got the attention of the government, but is this really the best way to bring about change? πŸ˜’

And what's with the lack of transparency around the whole thing? It feels like Randrianirina just jumped into office and expected everyone to be okay with it. I'm not buying it πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. And those international leaders who are quick to express their support for democracy in Madagascar should really be asking more questions about what's going on behind closed doors.

Not to mention, the protests were all about addressing some pretty serious issues – power and water shortages, agricultural reform... these aren't things you can just ignore or sweep under the rug. I hope Randrianirina is serious about his promises and actually makes a difference πŸ’ͺ. But for now, it feels like more of the same old politics πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

😊 so like i was reading this news about madagascar and the new president col michael randrianirina and i gotta say i'm kinda curious about how it all went down... πŸ€” from what i understand, there were these protests by gen z mada and other groups calling for change and stuff and then the military stepped in and that's when things got a bit messy πŸ’₯. but i guess col randrianirina seems like a pretty cool dude who's trying to make things right... 🀞 he's all about reforming the country's systems and holding elections within two years, which is super important for restoring democracy in madagascar πŸ—³οΈ. plus, he's thanking these young protesters who took to the streets for weeks, which is really sweet 😊. i mean, it's not always easy to speak truth to power or challenge the status quo, so kudos to those gen z mada folks for taking a stand! πŸ’ͺ

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing πŸ˜…... I mean, one day you've got President Andry Rajoelina holding onto power, and the next, there's Col. Michael Randrianirina sittin' pretty in his new chair πŸ›‹οΈ. It's crazy how things can move so fast! I'm glad to see some young folks takin' a stand for what they believe in πŸ‘Š... Gen Z Mada was right to get upset about those power and water shortages – it's time for real change.

I gotta admit, though, I'm a little worried about the legitimacy of this whole thing πŸ€”. I mean, international concern is one thing, but will Randrianirina really follow through on his promises? Can he reform all those systems without gettin' bogged down in bureaucracy? Time'll tell, I guess πŸ•°οΈ...

Im not buying this whole "youth movement" thing πŸ€”. Gen Z Mada sounds like just another bunch of kids on the internet trying to get attention πŸ“±. I mean, what's really going on here is some rich kid with a fancy phone getting taken advantage of by some power-hungry military generals πŸ’Έ. And now we're supposed to believe that Col. Randrianirina is all about reforming things and bringing in democracy? Please πŸ™„. It's just gonna be more of the same old corruption and cronyism we've seen before.

And let's not forget, he's a military guy, what does he know about running a country? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I'm all for change, but this whole thing feels like a setup to me πŸ˜’. Can't wait to see how it all plays out... probably gonna end in disaster 🚨.

Wow! 🀯 So they're saying the protesters who were fighting for change in Madagascar actually helped bring about a new president? Interesting! πŸ“Š I'm curious to see how Col. Michael Randrianirina's plans for reforming the country's systems play out, especially his promise to launch an investigation into Jirama and hold elections within two years. Fingers crossed it all works out for Madagascar! πŸ’ͺ

Ugh I'm low-key worried about this new president taking over... Like, what's to stop him from becoming another authoritarian leader? He's thanking these young protesters like they're some kind of heroes πŸ™„, but what about them now that he's in power? Are they just gonna be forgotten or used as pawns for his own agenda? And the fact that it was a military takeover kinda raises red flags... It's not exactly a smooth transition to democracy. Still, I guess only time will tell if this guy is all talk and no action πŸ€”. One thing's for sure though - international pressure is on him to deliver some real change.

I'm not entirely sold on Col. Michael Randrianirina's takeover just yet πŸ€”. I mean, it's good that the young protesters got some attention, but the military intervening seems like a slippery slope to me 😬. Still, I guess it's a step in the right direction if he can actually deliver on his promises and reform the country's systems.

I'm intrigued by his plan to investigate Jirama and reform the agricultural sector - that could be a game-changer for Madagascar 🌳. And holding elections within two years is definitely a positive step towards restoring democracy. Let's see how he navigates the next few months without losing momentum πŸ’ͺ.

It's also heartening to see some international support for the transition, even if it's cautious optimism 😊. I just hope Randrianirina can walk the talk and not get caught up in power struggles himself πŸ‘€.

So this is what's going on in Madagascar πŸ€”... I gotta say, it's kinda wild how quickly things can escalate, right? Like, one day you've got a president who's not doing a great job, and the next thing you know, there's a military takeover and a new president is sworn in. It's like a real-life soap opera πŸ“Ί.

But seriously, I think it's good that there are young people like Gen Z Mada who are taking matters into their own hands and pushing for change. They're not afraid to speak out and demand better from their leaders, which is something we can all learn from πŸ’ͺ.

Of course, the international community is watching this situation closely, and I get why - it's a bit of a grey area when it comes to whether or not what happened was a coup or just a peaceful transfer of power πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. But hey, at least we're seeing some promises from the new president about reforming the country's systems and holding elections in two years... fingers crossed that actually happens 🀞.

awww yay πŸŽ‰ col. randrianirina is like literally the people's champ πŸ’ͺ i love how he's giving shoutouts to those young protesters who made a difference πŸ™Œ gen z mada for the win! πŸ‘ i'm glad there's some positivity and hope about his plans for reform 🌈 it's gonna be interesting to see how things play out, but i'm rooting for him πŸ’š let's get that democracy back on track in madagascar πŸ’ͺ

😩🀯 I mean, what just happened here? One day, this guy Rajoelina is all like "I'm gonna reform", and the next he's like "Nah, I'll just take over the military and become president instead". And now we got a new president, Randrianirina, who's all about change... but at what cost? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ The young protesters, the Gen Z Mada crew, they were fighting for some real progress, not just a fancy phrase like "reform". They wanted power to go directly into the people's hands, you feel me? πŸ’– But did Rajoelina listen? Nope. He had to get his military friends involved and... boom! Coup. πŸ‘Š Now we're stuck in this weird limbo where nobody knows what's gonna happen next. Will Randrianirina be able to deliver on his promises? Only time will tell, but for now, I'm just over here wondering what the heck is going on with Madagascar 🀯😩

I'm not sure if I love or hate what's happening in Madagascar rn πŸ€”. On one hand, it's dope that Gen Z Mada is taking matters into their own hands and demanding change πŸ’₯. Power shortages are a real issue and we need some shaking up at the top πŸŒͺ️. But on the other hand, I'm worried about the military's involvement - is this really what we want? A coup can be super unstable and it'll be hard to trust whoever comes after them 😬. The fact that Randrianirina is trying to work with the protesters though, giving them credit for their role in his presidency... that's kinda cool πŸ’ͺ. Fingers crossed he doesn't mess it up 🀞.

I'm not sure I'd say this new president is gonna bring about all that change he's talking about πŸ€”. I mean, a military takeover is never a good sign, you know? And what about the young protesters who took to the streets for weeks? Were they just pawns in a bigger game? They seemed so hopeful and angry at the same time... like their whole world was being turned upside down πŸ’₯.

I'm not saying it's impossible for Randrianirina to make things right, but he's got his work cut out for him. Reforms take time and effort, especially when you're talking about systems that have been in place for years πŸ•°οΈ. And what about the people who are gonna get hurt in the process? The ones who rely on Jirama or the agricultural sector for their livelihoods? Have they even been consulted? It's all a bit too sudden and convenient for my taste 😐.

I'm keeping an open mind, I guess, but I've gotta wonder what's really going on behind the scenes πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.
