Oh. What. Fun. review – Michelle Pfeiffer leads Amazon's underbaked Christmas turkey

Amazon's Latest Christmas Movie Fiasco: 'Oh. What. Fun.' Falls Flat

In a season saturated with lackluster, Hallmark-style holiday fare, Amazon has thrown its hat into the ring with Oh. What. Fun., a messy, muddled comedy that fails to deliver on its promising premise.

At its core, the film's idea of giving mothers a chance to shine during Christmas is admirable and relatable. But director Michael Showalter's vision quickly devolves into chaos, courtesy of an underdeveloped script that prioritizes shallow one-liners over genuine character development. Michelle Pfeiffer, in particular, gets lost in the mess, struggling to find her footing as Claire, a mother desperate for recognition during the holiday season.

The talented cast, which also includes Felicity Jones and Jason Schwartzman, is woefully underutilized. Danielle Brooks' delivery driver character is a pleasant surprise, but even her bright spot can't make up for the lackluster writing. The film's attempts at humor fall flat, with jokes that are more cringe-worthy than laugh-out-loud funny.

The result is a movie that feels like it was made solely to promote Amazon's holiday offerings – a cynical move that undermines any genuine attempt at creating an entertaining film. Even the film's most interesting elements, such as its exploration of motherhood and empowerment, are squandered by a narrative that refuses to take risks or challenge itself.

All in all, Oh. What. Fun. is a disappointing, unoriginal holiday movie that fails to deliver on its promise of festive fun. If you're looking for a Christmas classic, keep looking – this one's not worth the price of admission.

omg i just watched this christmas movie on amazon and i'm soooo underwhelmed 🤔 what happened to all the good holiday movies? i mean i liked michelle pfeiffer in everything but this one she was like lost in space 😂 i don't get why they didn't use felicity jones more too 🤷‍♀️ her character was nice and all but then it just disappeared 🎉 guess i won't be rewatching this one on christmas morning ☕

ugh i was so hyped for this movie like i've been waiting for a good christmas flick all year 🎄🤦‍♀️ and then it just falls flat 😔 michelle pfeiffer is wasted in this role, she's one of my fave actresses and i know she can do way better than this 💁‍♀️ felicity jones and danielle brooks are the only ones who try to save it but even they cant elevate this mess 🤦‍♀️ what a waste of potential 🎥 amazon is so done with releasing lazy christmas movies, like we need another one that's just gonna disappoint 🙄

ugh i'm so done with amazons latest christmas movie attempt it just reeks of being made solely for the holidays and not actually trying to create something good i mean come on michelle pfeiffer is one of my faves but even she can't save this mess felicity jones and jason schwartzman are wasted in these roles and dont even get me started on danielle brooks who's character is basically the only decent thing about this whole film its like amazon just phoned it in for christmas i'm still holding out hope that they'll make a better one someday but until then oh what fun is just another disappointment 🎄😒

ugh, I mean come on, Amazon can do so much better than this 🙄. I was expecting a holiday rom-com that would warm my heart, but 'Oh. What. Fun.' is just a mess 😩. They had a great premise with the mom-centric plot, but it got lost in the script chaos. And don't even get me started on how they wasted Danielle Brooks' talent - she's like the bright spot in an otherwise dull movie 🌟. I'm also super underwhelmed by Michelle Pfeiffer's performance, I know she's a legend but even she can't carry this film to life 💁‍♀️. What really gets me is that it feels so forced and commercial...like they just wanted to use the holiday season as an excuse to peddle their Amazon Prime stuff 📦. Sorry, Amazon, you can do better than this 🤷‍♂️

I'm telling ya, it's like they wanted to make sure the holidays were ruined for us 🎄😒. First off, Amazon thinks we'd just swallow whatever bland, formulaic holiday movie they churn out and call it a day. And don't even get me started on Michelle Pfeiffer getting wasted in that script... what happened to her? She's one of the best actresses out there and yet she's stuck with some cheesy one-liner after another 🤣🚮. And have you noticed how they just kinda phoned it in with this movie? No effort, no creativity, just a lazy cash-grab to sell more Prime stuff 🤑😴. I mean, what's the point of even making a holiday movie if you're not gonna put some heart and soul into it? 🤔🎅

lol i just watched this amazon christmas movie and it was like watching paint dry 😴 the premise sounds cool but the execution is trash 🤣 michelle pfeiffer deserves better than this 💔 at least felicity jones showed up a bit more than the rest 👀 would not watch this again even if you paid me 🎁 might as well just stick to the classics like love actually orElf 🌟

idk what's goin on with amazon's christmas movies lately 🤷‍♂️ they just seem so... lazy. i mean, oh. what. fun. is literally the most unoriginal title i've ever heard for a holiday movie. and yeah, michelle pfeiffer deserves better than this script. she's such a talented actress, it's sad to see her wasted on a mess like this 🎥

and don't even get me started on amazon trying to shoehorn their stuff into the movies 🤑 it feels so cynical. can't they just focus on making good content for once? 😒

omg i just watched this movie and i'm still trying to figure out what happened 🤯 it had such potential with the whole mom thing but like u said the script was trash 🚮 michelle pfeiffer deserved better tho she always brings the drama 😂 felicity jones and jason schwartzman were wasted in those roles too they're so talented but the writing just didn't do them justice 😔 i'm still trying to decide if it's worth rewatching or not idk man maybe i'll stick with marian reed's a Christmas story 2 instead 🎄

I don't get why everyone's being so harsh on this film 😐 It's just a lighthearted comedy meant to bring some holiday cheer 🎄. I mean, Michelle Pfeiffer is still an amazing actress, even if she doesn't quite fit the role here 🤔. And can we talk about how underrated Danielle Brooks is? She's always bringing that fire 💁‍♀️! The script might not be perfect, but I think it's trying to say something meaningful about motherhood and empowerment... maybe it just needs a second watch 😊.

just watched oh what fun on amazon prime and honestly felt like i wasted 2 hours of my life 😒. they had some nice ideas but execution was whack. michelle pfeiffer deserved better than this script. even felicity jones and jason schwartzman were miscast 🤷‍♀️. shoulda just stuck to the holiday specials on netflix 🎄

ugh amazon really tried to make another christmas movie but like they phoned it in...
they had a good idea with moms getting recognition during holidays but then just dropped the ball on execution 🎅😒
michelle pfeiffer deserved better than that script, poor girl was lost in the mess 👀
cant even get one good laugh out of this thing, jokes were all cringe 😂🙄
should've stuck to making ads instead of trying to make a real movie 📺💸

I gotta say, I was really looking forward to watching this Amazon Christmas movie, but it was such a letdown 🤔. The idea of giving moms a chance to shine is super cool and all, but the execution just fell flat 😐. The writing was so lazy, it felt like they were phoning it in. And don't even get me started on Michelle Pfeiffer's character - she was wasted 🙄. I mean, I love Felicity Jones and Jason Schwartzman too, but they deserved better lines that didn't feel like they came from a bad comedy script 😂. Overall, this movie just felt like a cynical cash-grab 🤑. If you're looking for a good holiday flick, keep looking... trust me 👍

🎄 I'm so done with these lazy holiday movies that just phone it in 🙄. Amazon trying to capitalize on the whole 'mother's day' thing during Christmas is just a bunch of nonsense 🤷‍♀️. I mean, can't they come up with something original? Oh What Fun sounds like just another generic, cheesy rom-com that's only purpose is to make some money 💸. And honestly, if you ask me, it's just another example of how Hollywood is all about quantity over quality 📉. Give me something with substance and heart any day ❤️.

idk about this new Amazon Christmas movie 🤔... all I see is an underdeveloped script and some talented actors getting wasted in shallow roles 😐. Michelle Pfeiffer's character sounds like it could've been so much more interesting, but apparently, they just phoned it in 📞. And what's up with the jokes? didn't even crack me up... felt like I was watching a bunch of outtakes from a different movie 🎥. can't say I'm surprised it's a cynical promo for Amazon's holiday offerings, tbh 🤑. if you want a real Christmas classic, keep looking, imo 😒
