Photos emerge of Somali illegal's ties to top Minnesota Dems after ICE arrest

A high-ranking Somali illegal immigrant, Abdul Dahir Ibrahim, has been arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in an operation targeting those considered "worst of the worst" criminals.

The 1995 migrant entered the United States after being deported from Canada. An immigration judge ordered his removal in 2004, citing significant fraud on his record, but he was denied all appeals. Ibrahim had also been convicted in Dakota County District Court for providing false information to police and driving without a valid license.

Despite this, Ibrahim has managed to gain temporary protected status (TPS) for nearly 10 years, which granted him certain rights as a refugee. His application for TPS was pending when the ICE operation targeted his status.

The migrant's ties to Minnesota politicians are also noteworthy. Ibrahim had been photographed with several prominent figures including Governor Tim Walz, who ran against former President Donald Trump in 2024.

The Somali community has made significant contributions to Minnesota and economic culture of this state according to Gov. Walz

I'm not sure if granting temporary protected status to someone with a history of providing false info to the cops & driving without a license is really fair πŸ€”. I mean, don't get me wrong, our state's Somali community has made some amazing contributions, but this guy's record sounds pretty shady 😬. And what's up with his ties to Governor Walz? Was it just politics as usual or did he have some genuine influence on the governor's views πŸ€‘?

OMG, can u believe dis? So Abdul Dahir Ibrahim, a super high-ranking Somali migrant, is arrested by ICE after he's been here for like 25 yrs! What's crazy is that he was deported from Canada back in '95 and was supposed to leave the US, but some judge said his info was shady and he got denied all appeals. He even got convicted of lying to cops and driving w/o a license lol 🀣. But wait, it gets better - he somehow managed to get temporary protected status (TPS) for almost 10 yrs, which gave him certain rights as a refugee. And btw, he's friends with some major Minnesota politicians, including Governor Tim Walz! It's like, how does that even happen? I mean, I'm all for people having second chances, but not when they break the law and get away w/ it for so long πŸ™„.

I'm thinking... πŸ€”
So like, this guy Abdul Dahir Ibrahim is a total slippery one 🐍, right? He comes into the US after being deported, and then gets all these extensions on his TPS deal πŸ•°οΈ. I mean, what's the deal with that? It's not fair to others who are trying to follow the rules πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ.

And get this - he's got ties to some major Minnesota politicians πŸ‘₯! That's not surprising, though, since they're all about supporting their local communities 🌎. But still, it raises questions about how TPS deals are doled out πŸ˜•.

Can't we just have a fair and transparent system for immigration? 🀝 I mean, it's not that hard to get the facts straight on someone's record πŸ“Š...

OMG u guys!!!! 🀯 This is like the ultimate plot twist!!! How did Abdul Dahir Ibrahim get away with all these crimes & still manage to get TPS for 10 yrs?! It's literally mind-blowing 😲 I mean, I'm not saying he didn't deserve it or anything, but come on! The fact that he had ties with Governor Walz is like, whoa... what's going on there?! πŸ€” Is this a case of cronyism? Shouldn't the politicians be more transparent about their connections to people with questionable pasts?!

And let's not forget about the state of Minnesota's "temporary protected status" system – it seems like they're just handing out passports to anyone who claims refugee status πŸ˜‚. I'm all for helping refugees, but can we please have a better vetting process in place?! This guy's got some serious red flags 🚨.

πŸ€” just thinkin bout this, how does a guy like Abdul get away with so much? had his tps extension just cuz he's from somalia? what about all those people who are actually hurting the country? it don't seem right that someone with a bunch of convictions gets more rights than they do. and now that gov walz is tryin to play nice with the somali community, does that mean ppl who disagree with him r gettin targeted too? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ gotta stay vigilant

OMG 🀯, like I cant believe whats goin on w/ this guy Abdul Dahir Ibrahim! So he gets caught by ICE & its all like he wasnt even supposed 2 b here in the first place? Like, his record is already so ruff πŸ˜‚, but then hes still managed 2 get TPS for 10 yrs?! Whats up w/ that? I feel bad 4 the ppl who were hurt by him, but at the same time, u gotta wonder how he got away w/ this 4 so long.

I also find it kinda weird dat his ties to Minn politicians r a thing πŸ€”. Like, Governor Tim Walz is all about embracin' diversity & stuff, but I guess thats not true if ur a illegal immigrant who's still tryin 2 game the system πŸ˜‚. Anyways, I hope hes held accountable 4 his actions, but also feel 4 the Somali community in Minn who are actually doin good things πŸ’•

I'm no expert on immigration law, but I get it - Abdul Dahir Ibrahim is like the ultimate sneaky immigrant 🀣. First, he gets caught for fraud in Canada, then he gets deported back to the States, and before you know it, he's got TPS like it's a free pass! And let me tell you, having friends in high places doesn't hurt - Governor Tim Walz, here he comes! 🀝 I'm not sure if Ibrahim's got any hidden talents or skills, but I do know that Minnesota politicians love their Somali community, and honestly, who can blame them? The guy might be a sneaky immigrant, but he's still contributing to the state's economic culture - that's what we call a win-win! πŸŽ‰.

this is so crazy 🀯... i mean i understand immigration laws are meant to be enforced but what's going on with temporary protected status? isn't that supposed to be a safety net for people who can't go back home due to conflict or whatever? and now it seems like it's being pulled out from under them without any explanation. did the US government just decide that TPS wasn't working anymore? πŸ€” also, what's up with the governor's ties to this guy? is it a big deal that he was photographed with him multiple times? πŸ“Έ shouldn't politicians be held to higher standards of accountability than your average citizen? and what about the Somali community in Minnesota? do they feel like their contributions are being disrespected now? 🀝

πŸ€” So I'm reading about Abdul Dahir Ibrahim being arrested by ICE and it's like... how did he even get here? He was deported from Canada, but somehow he just showed up in the US again in 1995 and everything just worked out for him? πŸ˜•

And then to think he has connections with some big-time politicians in Minnesota too. It's all pretty wild. The part that really gets me is how he got temporary protected status for nearly 10 years despite all these convictions and whatnot... it's like, doesn't anyone care about the rule of law? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I mean I get that the Somali community has made some amazing contributions to Minnesota and all that... but can we also please have a system in place where people who are here on false pretenses aren't getting special treatment? 😊 It's just hard to see how this all adds up.

πŸ™„ so it's not surprising that someone with a long history of fraud and driving without a license would be considered "worst of the worst" ... sounds like just another case of 'no questions asked' for those with the right connections πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ meanwhile, Governor Walz is still going on about how great the Somali community is to Minnesota's economy... yeah sure, because nothing says 'economic growth' like a guy with 10+ years of dodgy paperwork πŸ˜’

I'm shocked that someone with so many convictions is still living in the US 🀯. It's like, I get it, we're a country of second chances, but come on! Ibrahim's got some serious red flags - false info to the cops and driving without a license? That's not something you just forget or move past πŸ˜’.

And what's even more frustrating is that he managed to get TPS in the first place. I mean, I'm all for giving refugees a chance, but this guy had some pretty serious issues going on before. It's like, how did his application even pass the background check? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

And now that ICE has stepped in, it's like, what's next? Are we gonna start deporting people with convictions or what? I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a second chance, but this feels like a mess of bureaucratic red tape and politics getting in the way πŸ’”.

πŸ€” I'm all for strengthening our immigration laws, but can't we find a way to help people like Abdul Dahir Ibrahim get back on their feet? I mean, 10 years of temporary protected status is a long time, and it's clear he's made mistakes in the past, but does that really warrant deportation? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

And what about the fact that Governor Walz has been photographed with him multiple times? Is that just politics as usual or are there more to these ties than meets the eye? I'm curious to know how this situation plays out. Wasn't Minnesota supposed to be a state that welcomes immigrants and refugees? 🀝 It seems like there's a disconnect here.

I think we need to have a broader conversation about our immigration policies and how they impact people like Ibrahim, who are trying to make a better life for themselves but keep getting pulled back down. We can't just focus on the "worst of the worst" – what about those in between? πŸ’‘

Im thinking ICE should be more transparent about who they're targeting, you know? Like, why can't they just say what the "worst of the worst" crimes are so people know what's going on? They're like a silent executioner, swooping in and arresting ppl without giving 'em a chance to defend themselves... 🚫 And btw, if the Somali community has contributed so much to MN, why did Abdul get granted TPS in the first place? Just more questions than answers, imo 😐
