Reporter's Notebook: What is work for?

I mean, I think it's pretty interesting how our perspective on work has changed over time 🤔. I've been in the digital marketing game for years, and I have to say, I've seen so many people get burned out because they're just going through the motions, you know? But this former executive's story is like, super inspiring 🙌. He found a new sense of purpose after leaving his corporate job, and it's not about being rich or famous, but about making a difference in other people's lives ❤️.

I'm not sure I agree that we can't measure the value of work by financial metrics anymore 💸, though. I mean, don't get me wrong, personal fulfillment is important, but someone's gotta pay the bills, right? 😅 But what's cool about this conversation is that it makes us think about why we're doing what we're doing, and whether it's aligned with our values.

For me, it's all about finding a balance between making a living and making a positive impact 🌎. Maybe that means pursuing a career in social media marketing (my day job 😜), but also making time for volunteering or hobbies that bring me joy. It's not always easy, but I think that's what makes life worth living 🤗.

I dont think its just about makin money anymore 🤔. I mean, sure thats important but theres more to life than just gettin paid 🤑. Like my friend who quit his job and started volunteerin he was really happy 🌟. He said it felt good to be doin somethin that mattered without just thinkin bout the benjamins 💸. And I think thats what this interview is sayin... work should be about fulfillin ourselves not just makin money 😊. Its a pretty cool perspective 👍

i think its crazy how we've lost sight of whats truly important. like, dont get me wrong, having a steady paycheck is nice but its not the end goal. ive met people who are super successful in their careers but are miserable because they're not doing something that actually brings them joy. and thats what this guy was talking about - finding purpose beyond just making money. i think thats why we see so many ppl switching careers or taking time off to travel, cuz they realize theres more to life than just a 9-to-5
