Russia says talks to end Ukraine war ‘serious’ but rules out concessions

Moscow Rules Out Concessions as Talks with US on Ending Ukraine War Intensify

The Russian government has stated that talks between Moscow and the United States aimed at bringing an end to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine are "serious" but have no intention of making major concessions. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the negotiations as a "serious process", although it remains unclear whether any concrete agreements will be reached.

Russian officials, however, remain resolute in their stance on several key issues, including territorial disputes and military limitations for Ukraine. Sergei Ryabkov, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister, explicitly stated that "there can be no question of any concessions or any surrender of our approaches to those key points".

US President Donald Trump has pushed hard for an end to the conflict, proposing a 28-point plan that includes several Russian demands. While the Ukrainian government and its European allies have expressed concerns about some aspects of the proposal, it appears that the US administration is willing to modify certain provisions.

Trump recently stated that progress was being made in talks with Russia, but also acknowledged that Moscow would not yield on key points. Critics argue, however, that Trump's approach may be naive given Russia's past behavior and its current military advantage.

Russian officials seem to share this assessment. Jim Townsend, a senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security, warned that Russia is likely to use delay tactics to avoid concessions, viewing the US president as impatient and unfocused.

As tensions continue to simmer in Ukraine, there are growing concerns about the potential consequences of failed negotiations. The European Union's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, stressed the need for concrete concessions from Russia if a peace agreement is to be achieved.

Meanwhile, the conflict has continued to escalate with drone attacks and other military incidents on both sides. Russian air defences have successfully downed numerous Ukrainian drones in recent days, while Ukraine's General Staff has reported striking targets in western Russia.

🤔 I wonder if Trump's plan is too aggressive, it might just push Russia further away... 🤷‍♂️ Russia's been pretty firm on some stuff and I don't think they're willing to budge unless they feel like it. 💸 We should be worried about the drones, both sides are getting reckless... 😬 This whole situation is so tense! 💥

🤔 I'm kinda surprised they're not being more flexible about these territorial disputes 🚫. It feels like the US is already making some concessions by considering those 28-point plans 📝. What if the US is trying to find a middle ground instead of just asking for Russia's surrender? 😕

I'm low-key freaking out about these talks between Russia and the US lol 🤯 Russia is like "no concessions" and I get it, they're not gonna give up their Ukraine thing but what if this plan from Trump actually works? 💡 The EU is all about concrete concessions and I feel them 😩 But at the same time, Russia's just being super chill about everything 🙄 Like, I know they've had some shady moves in the past but can we just see a peaceful resolution here? 🤞 And can someone please tell me how many drones have been downed so far? 🚫 I need to know! 💥

omg what's goin on with russia & ukraine 🤯 i was just watchin a vid of those russian soldiers marchin around and it seemed so intense 😬 my friend's uncle is from ukraine and he said its really scary over there, like, people dont even know when the next drone attack will happen 🚨 anyway back to russia... if they're not gonna make concessions then i guess we'll just have to wait and see how things play out 🤔

🤔 I mean, think about it... Moscow is saying they're not gonna budge, but what if they are? What if Trump thinks they're bluffing and keeps pushing? That could lead to some crazy situations. Like, what if Ukraine gets involved and Russia fires back on EU soil? 🌍️ The US might get caught in the middle again. And Russia's all like "we need concessions" but what does that even mean for them? Are they just trying to distract us from their own games? 🤑 I'm not saying it's gonna happen, but it's always good to keep an eye on these kinds of talks. There's gotta be more to it than meets the eye... 💡

Man, this whole situation in Ukraine got me thinking about how we approach conflict resolution... like, what does it really mean to compromise? 🤔 Are we just trying to paper over the cracks or are we actually working towards something meaningful? Russia's all like "we're not gonna give up on our territorial claims" and I'm like, yeah, that makes sense from their perspective, but at what cost?

And then you got this whole dynamic with Trump and his 28-point plan... is it really that simple to just negotiate away all the issues? I mean, we know Russia's been involved in some shady stuff in the past, so can we trust them to play by the rules? 🤷‍♂️ It's like, we're trying to solve a puzzle, but one of the pieces is constantly moving on us. Does that make sense? 😊

🤔 I think it's good that both sides are trying to talk things out... but, like, gotta be realistic too 🙅‍♂️. Trump's plan is ambitious, I guess, but we can't ignore Russia's perspective either 🤝. The EU's Kaja Kallas makes a valid point about needing concrete concessions from Russia, though 📝.

It's frustrating when negotiations stall due to "delay tactics" 😒. We've seen how Ukraine has struggled with losing territory & lives... and now it's all just going on repeat 🕰️. I wish we could find a more creative solution that doesn't involve just one side giving in 🤷‍♂️.

The US & Russia need to work together to build trust & stability, but it's not gonna be easy 💪. Maybe they can try finding common ground... or at least understanding each other's positions better 😊.

Ugh I dont think trump thinks thru this whole thing 🤯 Russia is just playing hardball here, theres no way theyre gonna budge on territorial disputes. US administration needs to be more realistic about whats at stake here 💔 Ukraine situation is super volatile and its gonna take a lot more than 28 points to resolve this...

I gotta say, I'm a bit surprised that Trump is pushing so hard for these talks with Russia 🤔. I mean, don't get me wrong, the guy's got some good ideas, but his whole "let's be friends" approach towards Russia just doesn't sit right with me 😒. I think he's gotta realize that Putin ain't gonna give up on Ukraine no matter what 💸. And honestly, I'm not sure what's more concerning - the fact that Russia is being all secretive about their plans or that Trump is willing to listen 🤷‍♂️. Either way, it feels like we're just spinning our wheels here ⏱️. Can't we just focus on getting Ukraine some real help instead of trying to make nice with Russia? 🤦‍♂️

I'm surprised Moscow is holding firm on territorial disputes 🤔. I mean, can't you just compromise a bit? 🤷‍♂️ It's been years of conflict and who knows what kind of human cost will be incurred if talks fail again? 🕊️ Trump's 28-point plan was a good effort but I guess some concessions are needed to get Russia on board 📝. Putin's got a reputation for being tough but isn't that just playing into the hands of his opponents? 🤦‍♂️ The EU is right though, concrete concessions from Russia need to happen if we want to see an end to this war 💪. It's getting harder to keep track of all the military incidents and drone attacks – can someone please just negotiate already?! 😩

🤔 I'm not sure about these talks between Moscow and the US... it feels like they're just trying to stall for time 🕰️. If Russia is really not willing to make any concessions on key issues, then why are they even bothering with the negotiations? 😐 It's like Jim Townsend said, they're probably using delay tactics to avoid making any real progress 💔. And Trump's plan sounds a bit naive considering Russia's track record... I mean, what makes him think they'll just roll over and give in on everything? 🤷‍♂️ The EU's Kaja Kallas is right though, if there's no concrete concessions from Russia, then it's hard to see how a peace agreement can happen 💪.

🤔 This talks between Moscow & US are super complicated 🗡️💥 Russia is being kinda stubborn 💁‍♂️ about territorial disputes 😒 and military limitations 🚫 for Ukraine. I think it's great that the US administration is willing to modify some provisions 📝, but Russia might just be playing a long game 🕰️. They don't wanna make any major concessions 🤷‍♂️, which means talks might get stuck in neutral 🚗.

I'm kinda worried about Trump's approach 🤔, I mean, he's pushing hard for an end to the conflict 💪, but is Russia being too clever 😏? Maybe they're just using delay tactics 🕰️ to avoid concessions. It's a bit of a gamble 🎲. Either way, it's super tense in Ukraine right now 😬 and we need some concrete progress 📈 ASAP! 🤞
