Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 1,387

Russia's War on Ukraine: A Day in Retrospect as Death Toll Reaches 1,387

It has been 1,387 days since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and the conflict continues to drag on. In a recent update from the front lines, Russian forces claimed control of several key towns and villages in eastern Ukraine, but Ukrainian officials disputed these claims.

According to reports, Moscow's forces took over the strategic town of Siversk in the Donetsk region, while also seizing control of Lyman in Kharkiv Province. However, Ukrainian forces maintained their grip on both areas, highlighting the ongoing stalemate between the two sides.

Meanwhile, Russia launched a massive aerial assault with at least 287 drones in several regions, including Moscow, where an estimated 40 were shot down. Ukrainian drones also hit key targets in Russia, including a major oil platform in the Caspian Sea.

The conflict has taken a human toll, with Russian forces accusing Britain of backing Ukrainian "acts of terrorism". However, British officials denied these claims, stating that a British soldier was killed while observing Ukrainian forces and away from the front lines.

In diplomatic developments, Ukraine presented the US with a revised 20-point framework to end its war with Russia. While some progress has been made, key issues such as territorial concessions remain unresolved.

The conflict has also raised concerns about regional security, with NATO chief Mark Rutte urging allies to step up defense efforts and prevent a potential war in Europe. In response, European Union governments have initiated a process to freeze Russian central bank assets for the long term, paving the way for a potential loan to Ukraine.

Economically, Russia's revenues from oil exports plummeted again in November, reaching their lowest level since the invasion began.

Ugh, can't believe they still haven't figured out how to end this conflict 🤯. 1387 days is forever! And what's with all these drones? It's like they're trying to make a game out of it 💥. Like, what's the point of taking over Siversk if you're just gonna lose Lyman back again? 🤦‍♂️. And those Russian accusations about Britain backing Ukrainian terrorism are so not cool 😒. Can't we all just get along and talk this out like civilized humans? 💬. I mean, it's not like it's gonna be easy, but can't we try? 🙏. The fact that they're freezing Russian assets is a good start tho 👍. Now if only they could figure out how to make some economic sense of all this...💸.

.. think this whole thing is super complicated 🤯. Like, can't we just talk about finding a peaceful solution without all the drama? Russia's got its claims, Ukraine's got its own stuff going on... and don't even get me started on Britain getting caught in the middle 😩. And then there's the economic part - I mean, 40 drones shot down in Moscow? That's wild 💥. But what really gets me is that everyone's just trying to protect their interests 🤝. It feels like we're all stuck in this never-ending loop, waiting for someone to make a move... but who knows what'll happen next? 🎲

can't believe it's been 1,387 days of this war 🤯. both sides are so dug in, I don't see how we're gonna get outta this mess anytime soon 😔. it's like they're just trying to wear each other down, no one's willing to give an inch. and now we gotta worry about regional security too? it feels like the whole world is holding its breath 🌎. i mean, freezing Russian central bank assets is a good start, but what's gonna happen when the oil runs out? 🤑 40 drones shot down in Moscow alone, that's just crazy 💥. and Russia accusing Britain of backing "acts of terrorism"? come on, can't we all just get along? 🤷‍♂️ still hoping for a peaceful resolution, but till then... 🙏

🤕 Still can't believe it's been 1,387 days since Russia invaded Ukraine... like, what's going on over there?! 🤷‍♂️ They're saying they've got control of some towns, but Ukraine's still holding strong, which is pretty cool if you ask me. But what's really scary is all the drone attacks and how many people are dying... 1,387 days is a looong time to be living in fear. 🤯 On a more positive note, the EU is trying to help out by freezing Russian assets and maybe even giving Ukraine some cash? 🤑 And Russia's oil exports are down - that's gotta hurt their economy! 💸

Man... 1,387 days and still going strong 🤯. It feels like an eternity since this mess started. I'm so tired of hearing about drones, tanks, and soldiers... when are we gonna talk about the people affected by this? Innocent civilians on both sides who just want to live their lives without fear of war. 💔 Ukraine's got some solid reasons for not giving in, but at what cost? 🤔

I'm all for NATO stepping up, but can't they do more? Freeze Russian assets already, it's about time ⏰. The US is always talking about supporting Ukraine, but when does the support actually come? 💸 And what about Europe? They're just enabling Russia with economic aid... 🤦‍♂️

🤔 you know what really gets me thinking about this war... it's not just about the death toll or territorial control. it's about how we respond to fear and aggression. like, Russia's using drones to attack Ukraine, but are they also planning for a drone strike on their own soil? is that a possibility that keeps them up at night? 🌃

and what does this say about us as a global community? do we just wait for the conflict to die down before taking action? or can we find a way to intervene sooner, without escalating the situation further? i mean, NATO's all like 'step up defense efforts', but is that really what they're trying to say... that we're not doing enough already?

and have you noticed how economic sanctions are being used as a tool for warfare now? freezing Russian assets and all that. it feels so transactional, you know? like, we're using money to control the narrative of war instead of actually working towards peace. 📈
