Thailand’s pork industry fears influx of cheap US imports under Trump

I'm getting really worried about our Thai friends 🤕. The new trade deal with the US could be a total game-changer for their pork industry, but not in a good way... It seems like the cheap US imports could spell disaster for those domestic farmers! I mean, have you seen the prices of hogs from the US? They're ridiculously low compared to what Thai farmers are getting. And let's not forget about that ractopamine additive - it's just not right 🚫.

I think we need to be more careful with these trade deals and consider the impact on our own farmers, too. I mean, can you imagine if US pork flooded into Thailand? It'd be a nightmare for everyone involved in the production cycle... from feed crop farmers to animal feed producers! 🐖

The Thai government needs to step up and negotiate better deals for its farmers. This isn't about just appeasing Washington; it's about protecting our own people's livelihoods 🤝. And, honestly, I'm a bit concerned about the concessions made by our Prime Minister - are they too generous? 🤑

Ugh, another trade deal gone wrong 🤦‍♂️. I mean, who needs a stable pork industry when you can have cheap US imports, right? It's not like Thai pig farmers are already struggling to compete with global giants... Oh wait, they're basically doing that now 😩.

The fact that the US is getting preferential access to Thailand's rare earths and billions of dollars' worth of aircraft makes me laugh. Like, who even cares about planes when you can just import cheap pork? 🚀

And don't even get me started on the concessions made by the Thai government. I mean, I'm all for trade talks and whatnot, but come on... 20% tariff on US pork is basically a slap in the face to domestic farmers. It's like they're just throwing them under the bus 🚫.

The whole thing just feels like a big mess, if you ask me. And what really gets my goat is that these talks are happening while Thailand is trying to lift its corn import limit and scrap tariffs on US pork... basically, giving away the farm 🌾👎

🤔 I'm a bit worried about Thai pig farmers right now. The idea of cheap US pork flooding into the market is super concerning. Like, have you seen those ractopamine-laced hogs from the States? I know it sounds crazy but some countries are really keen on avoiding that stuff 🙅‍♂️.

Anyway, it's not just pig farmers who are gonna get hit - corn and soybean farmers too are in for a rough ride. Thailand's price controls are already making things expensive for them, and now with the tariffs coming down... it's a perfect storm of trouble ⛈️.

I don't blame Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul for trying to appease Washington, but it feels like he's giving away too much at once 🤑. It's gonna be super interesting to see how this all plays out over the next two months - I hope they can figure out a way to make it work without hurting all these farmers 💔

this is what happens when you let corporations play politics 🤑🐖 ...thailand can't protect its own farmers, what's next? corn and soybeans are already struggling under these tariffs... 20 percent tariff on us pork, big deal, they'll just buy more from china 🚨
