Uganda awaits results of presidential election between Yoweri Museveni and Bobi Wine

Ugandans wait anxiously for election results as opposition alleges rigging, internet shutdown continues. Uganda's presidential and parliamentary elections are complete with voters having gone to the polls despite delays caused by malfunctioning voting machines.

President Yoweri Museveni is seeking a seventh term in office while his main challenger Bobi Wine has promised to tackle corruption and impose sweeping reforms. The two leaders are locked in a tight contest, with many observers predicting Museveni will emerge victorious.

However, the opposition claims that there were widespread allegations of rigging and electoral fraud, particularly at polling stations where security forces disrupted their activities.

The Uganda Communications Commission imposed an internet shutdown to prevent misinformation and fraud ahead of Thursday's election, but this move has been condemned by the UN human rights office as "deeply worrying". The National Unity Platform party has responded with its own vote-monitoring app that uses Bluetooth technology to share voting results data without needing internet access.

A total of seven presidential candidates were on the ballot papers in the elections.

I'm a bit concerned about this whole election situation πŸ€”. I mean, I get why they'd want to prevent misinformation and fraud, but an internet shutdown? That's not exactly reassuring, you know? It feels like they're trying to control the narrative more than actually ensuring free and fair elections 🚫.

And on top of that, allegations of rigging and electoral fraud are pretty serious stuff. I hope the opposition is being taken seriously by the authorities. The fact that there are two different vote-monitoring apps at play – one from Bobi Wine's party and another from the Uganda Communications Commission – just adds to the chaos 🀯.

It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out, but I'm definitely not holding my breath for a smooth transition of power 😬. Can't wait for some post-election analysis to figure out what really went down! πŸ’‘

man, it's like Uganda's election is such a rollercoaster πŸ”„... first of all, i feel bad for the ppl who had to wait forever to vote due to those malfunctioning machines πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. and then the opposition comes forward with some major allegations of rigging and electoral fraud 🚨... it's like, totally unacceptable.

and can u believe the internet shutdown? πŸ“΅ it's not only frustrating for people who wanna stay informed, but also super concerning cuz that's basically a way to control what ppl are allowed to know. like, come on, let the ppl decide 🀝

anywayz, gotta give props to Bobi Wine for speaking truth to power and promising some real change πŸ’ͺ... we'll just have to wait & see how it all goes down πŸŽ‰

man... this election situation is really tense 🀯! can't believe they're still waiting for the results after all those delays and stuff. like, what's up with those voting machines, right? should've been tested before the big day πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. anyway, opposition is saying some shady things about rigging and corruption... gotta be taken seriously, you know? πŸ™„

internet shutdown is a major bummer though 😞. how's that supposed to prevent misinformation or fraud again? didn't they learn from other countries' experiences with internet restrictions πŸ€”? meanwhile, National Unity Platform party came up with their own vote-monitoring app... good move, try to stay independent πŸ’».

one thing for sure, both candidates have some serious plans on the table - Museveni's got his experience, Bobi Wine's all about change and reform πŸ’ͺ. whoever wins, fingers crossed they can make a difference in that country 🀞.

I'm getting really worried about this election in Uganda πŸ€•πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬ it's like they're more interested in rigging the outcome than letting the people have a say! I mean, internet shutdown? That's just ridiculous 😑 and UN is right to call it out as deeply worrying 🚨. Can't we just let the voters get their results without all this drama?! It's not like Museveni has anything to lose at his age lol 🀣 but seriously, what kind of democracy are we talking about here?

I'm watching this Uganda election drama unfold 🀯 and it's wild how rigged the system feels. The government's move to shut down the internet is super shady 🚫, but at least some opposition parties are fighting back with their own vote-monitoring apps. It's cool that they're using tech to get around the shutdown! πŸ‘

But seriously, this whole thing reminds me of how elections can be so unpredictable and disputed... it makes you wonder what'll actually happen in the end πŸ€”. With Museveni v Bobi Wine, it's like a David vs Goliath battle πŸ˜‚ – but who wins? Only time (and the votes) will tell ⏰!

πŸ€” this election is super interesting, but i'm worried about the state of democracy in uganda. an internet shutdown during an election? that's just crazy 🚫 like what's next, shutting down social media for a week or something? and now it seems like the gov't is trying to control the narrative with their own vote-monitoring app... meanwhile, the opposition party has created its own thing, which is actually pretty cool πŸ€“. anyway, i hope they can get those voting machines fixed ASAP, who wants to risk voting for a machine that might not count their votes? πŸ’»πŸ‘€

I'm so sick of this whole election thing... πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Like, what's the point? Rich dudes and their families just gonna keep ruling us outta our own lives? Meanwhile, Bobi Wine is all about change, but we all know he's got no shot. Museveni is like a zombie in power - can't he just hang it up already?! πŸ’€ And don't even get me started on the internet shutdown... what's next? No socials? 🀯

Can you believe how crazy this election is? Like, who needs normal voting machines when you can just have them malfunction and cause delays, right? 🀣 And now the opposition is saying they're being rigged against... but honestly, I'm not surprised. I mean, it's not like Uganda has a reputation for being super transparent in their elections. The internet shutdown is pretty wild too - basically, the government is trying to control what people can say online, like they're trying to silence everyone with a giant "no you can't talk about this". πŸ€– And Bobi Wine, the opposition leader, is all about changing things up and fighting corruption... good luck with that! πŸ’ͺ I'm sure President Museveni will just be over here like "oh noes, my chances of staying in office are slipping away!" πŸ˜‚

I'm low-key worried about this election, ya know? πŸ€” Uganda's internet shutdown is a major red flag - it's like they're trying to keep people in the dark about what's really going down. And let's be real, a tight contest between Museveni and Bobi Wine could just be code for "Museveni wants to stay in power". πŸ€‘ The opposition's allegations of rigging don't sit well with me either - we need to know that our votes are being counted fairly.

I'm also curious about the whole Bluetooth voting app thing - it sounds like a game-changer. Can you imagine if other countries adopted this tech? We could be looking at more transparent and fair elections worldwide. 🌎 But for now, I'll just keep an eye on things and hope that everything goes smoothly (but let's be real, probably won't πŸ˜…).

I'm low-key worried about Uganda's election situation πŸ€”. With all these allegations of rigging and security forces disrupting opposition activities, it's like they're trying to suppress votes from certain groups. The internet shutdown is a major red flag too - how are people supposed to get info about the elections when they can't access the internet? πŸ“ŠπŸ’» And that vote-monitoring app by Bobi Wine's party sounds like a game-changer, maybe it could help level the playing field? I'm not sure who'll win between Museveni and Wine, but this whole thing feels super suspicious... 🀝

OMG, this whole situation is super tense 🀯. I feel like they're really taking away people's freedom by shutting down the internet, it's crazy! πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ I mean, what's wrong with a little misinformation and not having full control over the flow of info? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ And now this vote-monitoring app thing is being developed... that's like, totally cool tech, right? πŸ’» It just shows me how desperate they are to stay in power. And Museveni's got some serious competition from Bobi Wine, it's gonna be interesting to see who comes out on top πŸ€”

I'm a bit worried about the situation in Uganda right now πŸ€” but I also want to focus on the positive side! The fact that the opposition is speaking out and using tech-savvy solutions like the National Unity Platform party's vote-monitoring app is super inspiring πŸ’»! It shows that even in challenging times, people can come together and find creative ways to fight for what they believe in.

And let's not forget about the many Ugandans who bravely went to the polls despite the delays and disruptions πŸ—³οΈ! That takes a lot of courage and determination. I hope that this election will be a turning point for Uganda, where the country can start to move towards more transparency and accountability 🌟.

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that the internet shutdown won't have any long-term negative effects on Ugandan society πŸ‘. It's not ideal, but it's also a reminder of how quickly we can turn to technology to shape our democracy πŸ’‘!

man this election is getting so heated online 🀯 i feel bad for bobi wine's supporters theyre literally crying themselves to sleep every night over those alleged rigging claims... its like uguanda deserves better than this πŸ€• and yeah i get what ucc is trying to do but internet shutdowns are super worrying especially when the un is speaking out about it... like whats the point of having a vote if we cant even share the results afterwards? πŸ€”

its a bit suspicious how the election is going down, you know? one guy's been in power for like 30+ years and he's still trying to cling to it, while his opponent is all about change πŸ€”. but at the same time, i feel bad for the people of uganda who have to deal with these issues, internet shutdowns and alleged rigging...its a whole other level of frustration 😩. and what really gets me is how some ppl are saying its all just "oh no, misinformation" like that's an excuse to shut down the entire internet πŸ“ŠπŸ˜’. dont even get me started on how the international community is watching this unfold πŸ‘€. gotta wonder if there'll be any real reforms or not

Can you believe the drama unfolding in Uganda? 🀣 So, basically, they're trying to predict who's gonna be president for like, the millionth time πŸ˜‚. I mean, Bobi Wine's all about shaking things up and fighting corruption – sounds like a fresh start! But, on the other hand, Museveni's been around for ages, and we all know what happens when you stick with the same old crew πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

I love that the opposition is fighting back with their own app – Bluetooth voting results? That's some next-level stuff πŸ’». And, wow, an internet shutdown by the Uganda Communications Commission? Sounds like they were trying to control the narrative... or maybe just hide something shady πŸ”. The UN's all worried about it too, but I guess that's what happens when you're trying to suppress info 🀐.

Seven presidential candidates? That's a whole lotta options! Maybe one of them will shake things up and bring some much-needed change to the country 🌈. Fingers crossed for the Ugandans – may the best candidate win, and let's hope it's not because of some shady election rigging 😬

man this election is getting more dramatic by the minute 🀯 and you know what's even more wild is how the Uganda gov't handled it by cutting off the internet πŸ“΅... can you imagine wanting to spread info about potential voting issues or irregularities when you can't even get online? πŸ™„ the fact that they shut it down makes me think there's something they don't want people to know. and now the opposition is all about using this vote-monitoring app, but I'm not sure how reliable it'll be... anyway, it's gonna be super interesting to see what happens next - lots of people are feeling hopeful for change 🌟

omg u guys i just can't even right now 🀯 i was following this election so closely and it's all just so sad πŸ˜” like how can they shut down the internet like that?! its not fair to anyone who wants to stay informed or report any potential issues. and now with the vote-monitoring app, its like the gov is trying to control everything 🀫 meanwhile i was talking to my friend from uganda yesterday and she said things were super tense at the polling stations... cant imagine how scary it must've been for her to see what's going on there πŸ™

OMG, can't believe what's going down in Uganda 🀯! I'm keeping an eye on this election situation and it's getting really tense 😬. The opposition is accusing President Museveni's team of rigging the vote, which would be so unfair πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. And with internet shutdowns in place, it's like they're trying to cut off their own voices πŸ’». I'm hoping Bobi Wine's party will get the recognition they deserve and that some real change can happen in Uganda 🌈. But at the same time, 7 presidential candidates is a lot! How are they supposed to monitor everything on their own? Maybe more international observers would be needed to ensure things go smoothly ⚠️. Fingers crossed for Ugandans everywhere 😊.

Uganda's election results are gonna be a joke, like they always are 🀣. The opposition is hella salty about rigging claims and now it's all just gonna get swept under the rug because Museveni is basically a shoo-in at this point πŸ˜’. And don't even get me started on the internet shutdown - what's next? Taking away their oxygen too? πŸ’”. It's like they're trying to control every aspect of life in that country. The whole thing just reeks of authoritarian vibes 🚫.
