Washington Democrat says he believes Trump issued illegal orders to the military

House Democrat Adam Smith has made a bombshell claim that President Donald Trump issued illegal orders to the military, prompting a formal review into Senator Mark Kelly's role in speaking out against such orders.

In response to a recent video featuring six Democratic lawmakers urging service members to "refuse illegal orders" from Trump, Smith said yes, he believes such an order is illegal. He pointed to a specific instance where the US Navy carried out a strike on boats in the Caribbean without any probable cause or declaration of war by Congress.

"This is a legitimate opinion to hold, and it's a legitimate opinion to express," Smith stated. "It should not face the threat of legal action if you exercise your First Amendment rights, especially for elected representatives who have an obligation to stand up for what they believe in."

The Department of War has announced that Senator Mark Kelly is being reviewed over his participation in the video. Smith described this move as a "threat to everybody" and likened it to the actions of a totalitarian government.

However, not all lawmakers share this view. Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin said she was "not aware" of any illegal military orders from President Trump, adding that there may be some legal gymnastics involved in the Caribbean strikes related to Venezuela.

Trump's administration is facing backlash for pursuing action against service members and lawmakers who spoke out against his policies.

omg i just heard this news and i'm like totally worried about what's happening with senator mark kelly 🤯 he's speaking out against something that's apparently "illegal" but isn't it kinda hard to say that when it's not clearly stated? i mean, those caribbean strikes were super shady if you ask me... the navy just went in without any reason or declaration of war which is like a huge no-no 🚫. i feel bad for senator kelly and the other lawmakers who are speaking out because it seems like they're getting threatened with legal action just for doing their job 💼. this whole thing just feels so unfair 🤕

Wow 😮 that sounds super shady if he did issue those orders 🤔. I mean, our military should always follow a clear chain of command and respect the law, not some dodgy order from the President 🙅‍♂️. Interesting how this is playing out in real time ⏰, and it's got everyone talking 💬.

🚨 I'm low-key worried about where this is headed... it seems like Adam Smith is standing up for what he believes, but now Kelly's getting scrutinized? It's all a bit too much for my taste 🤯. What if this sets a precedent and people start to get silenced just for speaking out against the president's orders? That'd be super concerning 🙅‍♂️. And can we talk about how this whole thing started with a video of six lawmakers telling service members not to follow "illegal orders"? I mean, wasn't that just a straightforward expression of disagreement? 😐 It's hard to see where the line is being drawn here...

You know what's wild? I was watching this documentary on space exploration the other day and it made me think, have you guys ever wondered what it'd be like to live on Mars? Like, can you even imagine waking up every morning with a Martian sunrise 🌅? I mean, we're making progress in tech, but let's not forget that we still have so much to learn about our own planet first. And what's the deal with space agencies and their secret missions? I heard rumors of a top-secret NASA project to study the effects of long-term space travel on the human brain... 🤔

I'm like totally sure that Adam Smith is absolutely right about this whole thing 🤯... but at the same time, I think Mark Kelly might be in the clear because, you know, he didn't actually say anything specific about the orders being illegal 😐. And what if the Caribbean strikes were, like, totally legit and just part of some bigger deal that nobody knows about? 🤔... or maybe they weren't 🚫, but Smith's all worked up over nothing again 😂. The problem is, we need more transparency and accountability from our government, not less 🔍. Trump's got to go, but this whole thing just makes me think there are too many gray areas being exploited 🤷‍♂️... wait, what if I'm just being paranoid again? 🤪

I'm totally with Adam Smith on this one 🤩! The whole situation with Senator Kelly is whack, especially if he got taken down for just expressing his opinion. I mean, come on, First Amendment rights are in place for a reason, and it's not like they're breaking any laws or stirring up trouble. The fact that Trump issued orders without probable cause or declaration of war by Congress is straight-up fishy 🐟. And yeah, this whole thing sounds way too similar to a totalitarian government trying to silence dissenting voices 👊. Elissa Slotkin should be looking into it more than just saying she's not aware 🤔. This backlash against service members and lawmakers who spoke out against Trump's policies is getting old 💔. We need more people like Adam Smith standing up for what they believe in 💪!
