‘She does terrible things’: what can a Marvel director do with Ibsen’s ruthless heroine Hedda Gabler?

I just read about Nia DaCosta's new film adaptation of Hedda Gabler with Tessa Thompson 🤯. I'm not sure if I fully get why they're adapting a 140-year-old play, but it sounds like DaCosta has found the perfect lead in Thompson 🌟. The way she's described as "sexiness, sultry, machiavellian, vulnerable mess" is so on point for me 💁‍♀️. I've seen some of the early reviews and it seems like they're going for a really intense, dark vibe which I'm all for 🌑. As someone who loves a good complex female character, I'm definitely intrigued to see how Thompson brings Hedda to life. Fingers crossed it lives up to my expectations 😅

man i love how nia da costa is bringing attention to the importance of diverse voices in hollywood 🤝 she's a total boss for speaking out about her experiences as a black woman in the industry, and tess thompson is killing it as hedda gabler - that role was made for someone with so much depth and complexity 💁‍♀️ can't wait to see what they do next! 💫
