just heard about this new nasal Covid-19 vaccine that's trying to prevent infections before they happen i'm keeping my fingers crossed it works out because the pandemic is still a real thing in the US and we need all the help we can get but what worries me is that more testing needs to be done before it gets approved gotta make sure it's safe for everyone, especially our elderly and immunocompromised folks who are most at risk

omg u no its so cool that scientists in germany made a nasal vaccine that can literally shut down covid-19 infections i mean think about it, if we can boost our immune system to prevent the virus from even taking hold, thats a game changer for vulnerable ppl like the elderly and those with compromised immunity

i read this article on a website called medicalxpress.com https://medicalxpress.com/news/2024-04-german-scientists-develop-nasal-vaccine-covid-19.html it says that in hamster studies, two doses of the vaccine proved to be highly effective, blocking the virus from copying itself in the animals' upper airways

but, like, experts are still saying we need more testing done especially on primates and humans, because theres still a lot to be done before this vaccine can be widely used

the idea of a nasal vaccine that can shut down Covid-19 infections before they take hold is super cool , but let's not get ahead of ourselves, more testing needs to be done, esp with omicron variant . the results in hamster studies are promising, but we need to see similar success in humans and primates too . also, what about the elderly and immunocompromised, will this vaccine be effective for them?
