Singapore Airlines has taken the record for the world's longest commercial flight, a grueling 19-hour journey from New York City to Singapore aboard its specially-equipped Airbus A350. This is not just any flight, but a marathon session that tests even the most seasoned business travelers.
I'm one of the lucky ones on board this historic flight, along with several intrepid executives who were willing to brave the long haul for an unparalleled experience. As we soared through the skies, our pilot took the controls, navigating us across 8,700 miles of ocean and time zone difference.
The hours ticked by at a glacial pace – and I mean that literally – as we cruised at speeds of around 530 mph, making up for lost time with every passing mile. The in-flight entertainment system was filled to the brim with movies, TV shows, music, and even live sports broadcasts, but even the most engrossing screens couldn't keep our eyelids from drooping.
The real challenge lay not just in the hours spent on the plane, but also in the psychological test that Singapore Airlines' crew subjected us passengers to. Were we truly prepared for such an epic journey? Or were we just willing to push through our exhaustion and see this extraordinary adventure through?
And so, as I reflect on my time on board the world's longest flight, I'm still grappling with one final question – was it worth it? For these business travelers who joined me on this extraordinary odyssey, I'd say the answer is a resounding yes.

I flew from LA to Tokyo when I was 17 and we had like, 11 hours of actual flying time? Now this Singapore Airlines flight is like, 19 hours non-stop! That's just crazy talk! What kind of endurance testing are they gonna do next? And honestly, who needs live sports broadcasts on a plane that long? Just give me a comfy bed and some decent Wi-Fi and I'm good to go

Just don't try this at home, trust me... my kids would never survive such a long trip The idea of a 19-hour flight sounds crazy but I guess it's doable if you have the right entertainment system and comfy seats. But wow! 8,700 miles is insane! How many ppl were on that flight tho? And did they have to sleep on the plane or was there like, a whole sleeper section or what?
