Border czar Tom Homan slams Catholic Church, says a ‘secure border saves lives’

omg what is going on with this guy tom homan ?? like seriously the catholic church is just trying to speak out against human rights abuses and he's over here being all defensive about it? i mean come on, if they can slap down people who trespass on vatican land, why can't we do the same to people crossing borders illegally?? 🤦‍♂️
anyway i'm so sick of ppl like homan who think they know better than everyone else just because they're in charge. have they ever even met a migrant person? i doubt it.
and btw what's with all these numbers about migrants dying during journeys ?? how many ppl died from fentanyl smuggled across the border ?? does anyone really know?? 🤔
and secure borders saving lives is so easy to say when you're not the one living on the border, experiencing the trauma and fear of being deported. just saying.

I'm literally shocked by Tom Homan's comments towards the Catholic Church 🤯. As someone who cares deeply about social justice, it breaks my heart to see people like him making excuses for hurtful policies. Newsflash: being a devout Catholic doesn't mean you get a free pass to be an advocate for mass deportations.

And let's talk about this whole "securing the border saves lives" narrative 🚫. Have we forgotten that thousands of Americans have died from fentanyl smuggled across the border, but also that many innocent people are dying trying to cross it in the first place? It's time for us to shift our focus from "fixing" immigrants to actually fixing the systemic issues that led them here in the first place 🌎.

Homan's comments reek of hypocrisy, especially when you consider that the Vatican has strict rules about trespassers on its grounds. If he can't see the harm his words are causing, then maybe we need to have a bigger conversation about what it means to be an ally to marginalized communities 💬.

I'm really worried about Tom Homan's comments on the Catholic Church 🤕. It feels like he's trying to discredit an institution that's already been through so much, and it's just not cool. I get that the church has its own issues, but to attack it like this? That's just not right. And what's with his hypocrisy? The Vatican does have rules about trespassing, but at least they're consistent 🤔.

I'm also super concerned about the way Homan is talking down to the Catholic Church and implying that they need to "fix themselves" before speaking out on an issue. That's not how you have a respectful conversation about policy changes 🗣️. And let's be real, his comments about mass deportations being good for lives? It's just not true 💔.

The thing is, the church is trying to have a nuanced discussion about immigration policy that takes into account the human cost of enforcement. They're not just saying "no deportation" without thinking it through – they're trying to find solutions that work for everyone 🤝. And Homan's comments are just making it harder to have that conversation 🚫.

I think we need to listen to people like Pope Leo XIV and the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, who are actually trying to help us figure out how to make our immigration system better ❤️. Not someone who's just going to dismiss their concerns with a snide comment 🙄.
