Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz to reunite for new Mummy movie – reports

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz Set to Reunite in New Mummy Film

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are reuniting for an untitled new installment in the Mummy franchise, 25 years after their last appearance together. According to sources close to the production, Fraser will once again take on his iconic role as adventurer Rick O'Connell alongside Weisz's character, Evelyn Carnahan.

The project is set to be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who have previously shown their horror-comedy chops in films like Ready or Not and two Scream installments. Fraser and Weisz last appeared together in The Mummy Returns back in 2001, with the film also introducing Dwayne Johnson's character, the Scorpion King.

Weisz had been replaced by Maria Bello in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008, while a planned "reboot" starring Tom Cruise was abandoned after poor box office returns and mixed reviews. However, the unexpected resurgence of interest in the original 1999 film, thanks to its 25th-anniversary re-release, has paved the way for Fraser's return.

Fraser is currently basking in the success of his Oscar-winning performance in The Whale, which marked a significant comeback for the actor after a string of lesser roles. With this new Mummy installment, he will be looking to build on that momentum and prove himself as a leading man once again.

OMG 🤯 I'm so hyped about Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz reuniting in a new Mummy film!!! 25 years have passed and it's amazing to see how much love the franchise still has from fans like me. The original was such an iconic movie that never fails to put a smile on my face 🎥, and I'm excited to see what Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will bring to the table with their horror-comedy style. With Fraser's Oscar win under his belt, he's definitely got some serious momentum going and I'm here for it 💪! Can't wait to get a glimpse of Rick O'Connell in action again 😎.

🤔 so i'm kinda excited about brendan fraser and rachel weisz reuniting for the mummy film... it's been a while since they've worked together and it'll be nice to see their chemistry on screen again 💕 after his Oscar win, fraser is definitely due for another iconic role and this could be just what he needs to revive his career 🎥 meanwhile, i'm curious to see how the new mummy franchise will evolve with a fresh set of directors at the helm 🔥

I just saw this crazy documentary about old video games on Netflix 🎮 and I'm totally fascinated by how retro gaming has become so mainstream now. Like, who knew Pac-Man was a real thing? 😂 Anyway, back to the Mummy film... I love Brendan Fraser in The Whale, he's such a talented actor! I wonder if they'll include any of his Oscar-winning performance in this new movie... maybe some creepy scenes for good measure 🕷️

I'm so stoked to hear Brendan Fraser is back as Rick O'Connell 🤩! He was amazing in The Whale and I think he's going to bring just the right amount of sass and charm to this new Mummy film 😊. Rachel Weisz is always great too, she has such a strong presence on screen. I love how they're bringing back some familiar faces from the franchise, it's like no time has passed at all 👍. The directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are super talented too, their horror-comedy vibe is perfect for this type of film 🎃️. Can't wait to see what they do with this new story! 💥

I'm loving this reunion! 🤩 Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are like two peas in a pod, you know? They've got great chemistry, and I think it's awesome that they're reuniting for another adventure. The new Mummy film is shaping up to be a lot of fun with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett at the helm - those guys are masters of blending horror and comedy. It's crazy how far back their last collaboration was, though... 2001 feels like ancient history now! 🕷️ The success of The Whale has been amazing for Fraser, and I'm excited to see him shine in this new role. Maybe this will be the movie that gets him the recognition he deserves as a leading man? Fingers crossed! 👍

Ugh, great, just what we need another Mummy movie 🙄... like we haven't had enough of those already. I mean, 25 years is a long time to wait for a sequel, but I guess it's better than nothing. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are still cute together, I'll give them that 😊. But let's be real, the last one was kinda a mess... remember when they replaced Maria Bello? 🤦‍♀️ Anyway, I'm not really expecting much from this new film. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett seem like a decent directing duo, but can they salvage the franchise from its own mediocrity? We'll just have to wait and see... probably 😒

Ugh 🙄, another reboot of an old franchise... like we need more of these 🤯. 25 years is a looong time, can't they come up with something new? 🤔 Brendan Fraser is already proving himself in The Whale, why do they need him to revive the Mummy character again? 🙃 And what's with the casting of Rachel Weisz... didn't she have that one boring spy movie with Colin Firth? 😴 Anyway, I guess it's gonna be another over-the-top action flick with lots of explosions and cheesy special effects 💥. Can we just get a decent Netflix series or something instead? 📺

🎥 I'm super stoked about Brendan Fraser's return as Rick O'Connell in the new Mummy film! 25 years is a looong time, but it's amazing to see him reunite with Rachel Weisz, who was just fantastic as Evelyn Carnahan back in the day. The combo of these two actors always worked magic on screen, and I'm hyped to see if they can rekindle that chemistry.

The new film's horror-comedy direction by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett has me intrigued - I loved their work on Ready or Not and those Scream flicks. They've shown they know how to balance scares with laughs, which would be perfect for a Mummy movie. Plus, Fraser is looking strong after that Oscar win in The Whale, so this could be the perfect opportunity for him to show the world he's still got it.

I'm curious to see where this new story takes us - will they go back to the original adventure vibes or try something new? Either way, I'll be keeping an eye on this one, and I think fans of the franchise are in for a real treat! 🎬

omg did u hear about brendan fraser and rachel weisz getting back 2gether in this new mummy movie 🤯 its been like forever since they last acted together & now they're gonna be reunited as rick & evie lol i hope it's better than the last ones they did 🤷‍♀️ but honestly who cares about movies when u can watch brendan fraser eat a whole pizza by himself on netflix 🍕👀 btw has anyone seen the new mummy film with hamish mclean? idk if its good or bad but i need to know 😅

ugh, great just what we need another mummy movie 🙄, like we haven't seen enough of those already... Brendan Fraser's comeback kid after winning an oscar is just so convenient, like he was always meant for greatness 😒, and Rachel Weisz too, they were practically made for each other in the first place. But let's be real, this is probably gonna be a cash-grab, another soulless mummy movie with more CGI and less substance 🤑, can't wait to see how "exciting" it'll be 😴...

oh man, can you believe it's been 25 years since brendan fraser and rachel weisz were last together in the mummy franchise? 🤯 i mean, i'm all for revivals and comebacks, but this is just amazing! Brendan's been killing it lately with his role in The Whale (he's an absolute genius), so to see him reprise his iconic character as rick o'connell is just too exciting. And let's be real, who wouldn't want to see more of that chemistry between brendan and rachel? 😍 I'm a bit skeptical about the new direction with matt bettinelli-olpin and tyler gillett at the helm (i've only seen ready or not and scream), but fingers crossed they can pull it off!

I'm so hyped about Brendan Fraser's return as Rick O'Connell! 🤩 He totally deserved it after his Oscar win for The Whale. I mean, who wouldn't want to see him kick some more bad guys and have all that action again? 💥 And Rachel Weisz is always a great addition to any film, her chemistry with Brendan would be amazing. I'm curious about the new directors too, they seem like they know how to blend horror and comedy which is perfect for the Mummy franchise. 🎃 Can't wait for more info on this one!

Just watched the trailer for the new Mummy film and I gotta say, I'm super stoked to see Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz back together! It's crazy how time flies - they were so young in The Mummy Returns, now they're both established actors with amazing careers. I love that Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are directing this one, they've shown us some awesome horror-comedy vibes before 🎃👻 Fraser's performance in The Whale was incredible, let's see if he can bring the same magic to this new film... fingers crossed! 😅

omg i'm so hyped about brendan fraser and rachel weisz reuniting in a new mummy film 🤩 after all these years it's like they were never apart lol even though they did have some drama between the two in real life, let's just pretend that didn't happen and enjoy this epic comeback for Brendan Fraser, he totally deserved it after his Oscar win 🎉 and now we get to see him team up with rachel again which is gonna be so fun i'm also loving the fact that these two have been in this franchise before, it's like they're bringing back a piece of our childhood 🧟‍♂️ fingers crossed this one turns out as good as The Mummy Returns

idk why they're bringin back the mummy franchise 🤔 it's been dead since 2008 lol just kidding sorta... but seriously tho i think Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are due for some more action. their chemistry in the last film was on point and it'll be sick to see them reuniting again 🎥👊 matt bettinelli-olpin and tyler gillett directing this one? that's a bold move considering they're known for horror-comedy, but i trust em to bring some spooky fun 😈 and with brendan frazier comin off the back of his osci win, he'll def be lookin to make a splash 🌊

I'm so stoked about Brendan Fraser reuniting with Rachel Weisz in The Mummy film 🎬👻. It's like they're bringing back the magic of the original 1999 movie, you know? I mean, who can forget that iconic scene where Rick O'Connell and Evelyn Carnahan first met? 😂 It feels like it's been forever since we've seen them on screen together again.

I think this new film is going to be so much fun with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett at the helm. They're clearly masters of blending horror and comedy, just check out Ready or Not and those Scream movies they worked on 🎃👻. And can we talk about how epic it's going to be seeing Brendan Fraser back in his element as Rick O'Connell? He totally nailed the role 25 years ago, I'm expecting big things from him this time around 💥.

I remember watching The Mummy Returns with my family when I was a kid, and we all loved it so much. It's crazy how some movies just stick with you over the years. Fingers crossed this new installment will be just as beloved by both old and young fans alike 🤞

So now Brendan Fraser is getting a second chance at being a leading man in Hollywood after The Whale's Oscar win 🏆🎥 And we're all about celebrating his success, right? But let's not forget that Tom Cruise had a similar comeback attempt with the Mummy franchise years ago and it tanked 😐 I'm not saying Fraser's gonna fail but come on, this is a crowded market. Maybe they should've kept their hands off after The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was a total mess in 2008? 🤦‍♂️ It's all about timing and risk-taking in Hollywood, folks!

🎥 So they're bringing back Brendan Fraser's character 25 years later... I'm thinking what's the logic behind it? Are we supposed to forget that last time around was a box office bomb after a "reboot"? 🤔 It just feels like they want a quick cash-grab. Can't help but wonder if Tom Cruise would've had better luck with that reboot. And what about Maria Bello, she was great in The Mummy Returns! 😐

OMG I'm so stoked about this news!!! 🤩 The original Mummy film was such an iconic flick back in the day, it's awesome to see Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz reuniting for a new adventure together! 25 years is a long time, but I think they're both due for another epic ride. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are hilarious directors and I'm low-key excited to see what kind of crazy horror-comedy vibes they bring to the table this time around. Brendan Fraser's comeback is giving me LIFE after that Oscar win in The Whale, and Rachel Weisz was always an underrated talent - can't wait for her to shine again! 🎥
