Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz Set to Reunite in New Mummy Film
Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are reuniting for an untitled new installment in the Mummy franchise, 25 years after their last appearance together. According to sources close to the production, Fraser will once again take on his iconic role as adventurer Rick O'Connell alongside Weisz's character, Evelyn Carnahan.
The project is set to be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who have previously shown their horror-comedy chops in films like Ready or Not and two Scream installments. Fraser and Weisz last appeared together in The Mummy Returns back in 2001, with the film also introducing Dwayne Johnson's character, the Scorpion King.
Weisz had been replaced by Maria Bello in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008, while a planned "reboot" starring Tom Cruise was abandoned after poor box office returns and mixed reviews. However, the unexpected resurgence of interest in the original 1999 film, thanks to its 25th-anniversary re-release, has paved the way for Fraser's return.
Fraser is currently basking in the success of his Oscar-winning performance in The Whale, which marked a significant comeback for the actor after a string of lesser roles. With this new Mummy installment, he will be looking to build on that momentum and prove himself as a leading man once again.

so i'm kinda excited about brendan fraser and rachel weisz reuniting for the mummy film... it's been a while since they've worked together and it'll be nice to see their chemistry on screen again 
after his Oscar win, fraser is definitely due for another iconic role and this could be just what he needs to revive his career 
and I'm totally fascinated by how retro gaming has become so mainstream now. Like, who knew Pac-Man was a real thing? 
Anyway, back to the Mummy film... I love Brendan Fraser in The Whale, he's such a talented actor! I wonder if they'll include any of his Oscar-winning performance in this new movie... maybe some creepy scenes for good measure

. Rachel Weisz is always great too, she has such a strong presence on screen. I love how they're bringing back some familiar faces from the franchise, it's like no time has passed at all

... like we haven't had enough of those already. I mean, 25 years is a long time to wait for a sequel, but I guess it's better than nothing. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are still cute together, I'll give them that 
Anyway, I'm not really expecting much from this new film. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett seem like a decent directing duo, but can they salvage the franchise from its own mediocrity? We'll just have to wait and see... probably 
And what's with the casting of Rachel Weisz... didn't she have that one boring spy movie with Colin Firth? 
Anyway, I guess it's gonna be another over-the-top action flick with lots of explosions and cheesy special effects

I'm a bit skeptical about the new direction with matt bettinelli-olpin and tyler gillett at the helm (i've only seen ready or not and scream), but fingers crossed they can pull it off!
Fraser's performance in The Whale was incredible, let's see if he can bring the same magic to this new film... fingers crossed! 
and now we get to see him team up with rachel again which is gonna be so fun i'm also loving the fact that these two have been in this franchise before, it's like they're bringing back a piece of our childhood

I'm not saying Fraser's gonna fail but come on, this is a crowded market. Maybe they should've kept their hands off after The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was a total mess in 2008?
