China Eastern Airlines To Resume Shanghai-Delhi Flights After Five-Year Freeze

In a significant development that reflects the easing of tensions between the two nations, Chinese airline China Eastern Airlines announced on Saturday that it will resume direct flights between Shanghai and New Delhi from November 9. The resumption marks an end to a five-year freeze in commercial air links between India and China.

The flight schedule is set to operate three times a week - Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays - with the airline's online ticket sales platform indicating the new routes would be available for booking from Saturday onwards. However, China Eastern Airlines did not respond immediately to a Reuters inquiry regarding this development.

India had earlier confirmed plans to restart commercial flights with its neighbour, following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to China in over seven years. During the summit meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation regional security bloc, India and China discussed ways to enhance trade ties while addressing India's concerns over its burgeoning bilateral trade deficit.

i'm not surprised to see china eastern airlines resume flights between shanghai and delhi, especially with india's prime minister narendra modi visiting china recently . i think this is a positive step towards improving relations between the two nations and it's great that they're discussing ways to boost trade ties between them. now that there will be direct flights again, i hope indian tourists can enjoy exploring shanghai more easily and vice versa . china eastern airlines' decision shows they're willing to take a chance on reviving economic ties with india. fingers crossed this marks the beginning of a healthier relationship between china and india

finally some good news for travelers . been hearing about this 5 year freeze for ages. so exciting that china eastern is resuming flights, hope prices come down too . indian government really stepped up and made a move to restart ties with china after all those years . now we can fly between shanghai & delhi more easily ️. not sure if india's trade deficit is a good thing tho...

omg cant believe china eastern airlines is back on shanghai-delhi flights after 5 yrs finally some good news for indian travelers i mean who doesnt love flying to china?? and can u imagine the excitement when you arrive in shanghai and get to try all that delicious food india & china are def taking steps towards strengthening ties and its awesome to see progress being made hope this new route brings more tourists to both countries and who knows maybe we'll even get some chinese k-pop fans here

I'm literally hyped about this news!!! Like can you even believe it's been 5 whole years since flights between Shanghai & Delhi have been on the books?!?! It's like a weight has been lifted off the shoulders of all us travel enthusiasts!
