Elon Musk’s Twitter promised a purge of blue check marks. Instead he singled out one account | CNN Business

I'm so confused about this whole thing lol 😂. I mean, what's the point of even having a blue check mark if it's just gonna be a label that says you paid for it? 🤔 It's like Musk is trying to dumb down Twitter so anyone can join and impersonate whoever they want. Newsflash Elon: that's not equality, that's just chaos 💥. And what about the legit journalists and organizations who have worked hard to earn their blue check mark? Do we just lose all credibility because someone decides to change the rules on a whim 🤷‍♀️? It's like Musk is playing some kind of twisted game where he gets to decide who's "notable" and who's not 🎲. Not impressed with this whole purge thing 💔

I'm low-key confused about what's going on with Elon's Twitter purge 🤯. At first, I thought it was a solid move to weed out legacy blue check holders, but then it took a weird turn by targeting just one major publication 📰 - The New York Times 💼. It's like Musk is trying to make a point, but it's not really clear what that point is 🤔.

I get why he wants to shake things up and challenge the status quo, but this move feels kinda arbitrary 😒. And now they're giving all legacy blue check holders a new label that's kinda ambiguous 🤷‍♀️. It's like they're trying to be honest about it, but also kinda not being honest about it at the same time 🤯.

I'm worried about scammers and impersonators getting a free pass because of this change 🚨. And what's up with The New York Times' main account losing its blue check mark? Is Musk just trying to make an example out of them? 😳

It feels like Elon is using his whims to guide decisions instead of having a solid plan in place 💭. I'm all for shaking things up, but not when it comes at the expense of accountability and transparency 🔒.

I hope they get their act together before April 15th, when Musk's new "For You" feed recommendation plan goes live 📆. If Twitter can't even get its own verification system right, how are we supposed to trust it with our news? 📰😬

man... this whole thing just got me thinking about how easy it is to play with fire when we're talking about something as powerful as social media 🤯 like, what's the real intention behind all these changes? Is it really about making everyone equal or is it just a clever way to get people to pay for verification? and what's up with the label they added now? it's like, yeah sure, you're verified because you paid us... but what does that even mean? 🤑 and have we become so desensitized to fake news that we can't tell the difference between a legit account and a scammer just looking for attention? 😂

omg like this twt purge is soooo confusing 🤯!!! i think its clear that elon musk isnt exactly takin the best advice from his advisors lol. targetin one major publication over all others just makes no sense. and now theyve added this new label on blue check holders thats kinda misleading tbh. shouldnt it be more clear if someone has a legit blue check or just paid for it? 🤔 anyway, this whole thing is like, super weird. 🤷‍♂️

idk why elon musk can't just make up his mind lol 🤯 like, he starts this whole thing about getting rid of legacy blue checks and now it's all like "oh wait we're gonna keep some of them" ... i get that the label change is kinda confusing but can't he just communicate better? 💬 and what's with the inconsistency between different NYT accounts? 🤷‍♀️ i feel like the new rule is supposed to be about stopping scammers but really it's just giving more power to people who pay for stuff 😒
