Exactly how safe is a gel manicure?

I'm worried about all these chemicals in our nail polish . I mean, who knew that salon chains could be more popular than banks? It's wild! But seriously, the EU banning TPO is a good move, I guess . All those chemicals can't be good for us, especially those working in salons all day . They're exposed to so many harsh things and it's like, totally not fair . And have you seen those research findings about photoinitiators? It's crazy! We need to be more careful with our health and choose safer alternatives . Like, I'm gonna start wearing sunscreen when I get my nails done . It's all about being aware and taking care of ourselves .

salon chains are literally taking over the UK i get why people love shiny nails but like, what about our health? all these chemicals and safety concerns have me shook ‍ anyway, i think it's great that the EU banned TPO in 2022 - we should be prioritizing our well-being over looks. but at the same time, i do feel for salon techs who are super skilled at making us look good maybe there can be a balance between looking fly and staying safe?

I personally love getting my nails done every now and then, but I've started taking steps to protect myself. I always wear cotton gloves with cut-off fingertips when I get my nails done , and I try to choose salons that use LED lamps instead of traditional UV ones ️. It's all about being aware of the risks and taking control of our own health .

And can we talk about how salon chains are basically outdoing high street banks in popularity right now? Like, what's up with that? Either way, I'm just happy to have more options when it comes to getting my nails done – as long as they're safe and healthy, of course!

And don't even get me started on salon technicians! They're basically working with toxic chemicals all day, every day. I mean, I've seen some YouTube vids where they literally show the amount of dust from photoinitiators that can be tracked to their fingernails... yikes!

Anyway, I think it's great that people are starting to take notice and advocate for safer alternatives. Like, have you tried acetate soak-off gels? Game changer! And salons using LED lamps instead of UV ones is a major win too. But at the end of the day, it's up to us to do our own research and protect ourselves.
