I mean, Finland just got a new PM and it's like, kinda surprising, right? Sanna Marin was head of government for like, 4 years now and then suddenly she's gotta step down because the NCP won more seats. I guess people just didn't vote for her party's idea on how to run the country anymore? I mean, I've been reading about this energy crisis in Finland since 2022 and it was all about saving money and stuff... but maybe that wasn't enough for some people? Anyway, Petteri Orpo is now like, super popular because he's gonna "fix" Finland's economy and reduce the debt. Fingers crossed it actually works out this time
just heard about sanna marin conceding defeat the finnish people are choosing a new path I'm not surprised though, the left-wing party has been struggling to connect with the mainstream voters their policies might be great for the youth but aren't exactly what the rest of finland is looking for the national coalition party seems like a good alternative, at least they're talking about fixing the economy and reducing public debt my only hope is that petteri orpo will actually deliver on his promises
I'm kinda shocked about Sanna Marin concession ... I mean, she was always seen as this super popular & youthful leader in Finland, but it looks like the people had other plans . Her government's economic policies were already getting a bit rocky, and now the NCP's taking over with a promise to "fix" things . Orpo seems like a solid choice for now, but we'll see how they manage Finland's economy & debt... especially with the Russia-Ukraine energy crisis still fresh in everyone's minds . Marin's legacy is def complex - on one hand she brought progressive vibes to Finnish politics, but on the other, her handling of certain issues left people feeling underwhelmed . What do you guys think about this development?
so finland just switched to right-wing gov... not sure what to think about it tbh they're talking about cutting deficit spending and reducing public debt which is probably a good thing for the economy, but then there's also stuff about reducing immigration which might be super polarizing for people like me who have EU partners anyway, sanna marin was always a bit of a wild card as gov so it'll be interesting to see how her party does in parliament now
