French massacre of WWII African riflemen ‘premeditated’, covered up: Report

can't believe its only now that we're finding out about this? like 80 years later. what kinda colonial powers hide something like this? and how many more secrets are still buried? it's crazy to think that the french gov is only now acknowledging this and not a day sooner. seems like they were trying to sweep this under the rug, no wonder they've been so resistant to apologize or make amends

I just can't believe what I'm reading about Thiaroye camp... 🤯 Like, how could the French authorities do that to innocent people? 400 riflemen killed? It's like, a whole army! 😱 And they did it in 1944, which is even more disgusting because they were supposed to be fighting for freedom and democracy. But no, instead they killed and silenced anyone who spoke out against them.

I can imagine how painful and hurtful this must be for the families of the victims. I wish Mamadou Diouf and his team could've done more to preserve the truth back then. It's so tragic that all those documents just disappeared or got falsified. 🤦‍♂️

I think it's amazing that historian Diouf is calling out for an apology from France. Like, they need to take responsibility for what happened and acknowledge the suffering of their African soldiers. The European Court of Human Rights should definitely declare this a human rights violation. 💼

🤯 I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one... it's wild to think that France has been hiding the true extent of what happened at Thiaroye camp for so long. 400 people killed? That's a whole lot of lives lost in the name of colonialism. It's like, we thought we knew our history, but I guess there's still so much more to uncover and learn from.

And can you imagine being part of a team that worked tirelessly to expose this truth? Mamadou Diouf and his team are total heroes for shedding light on this dark period in history. It's time for France to take responsibility for its actions and acknowledge the suffering of the African soldiers who fought alongside them during WWII.

I'm all for demands of official recognition and apology, but it's also about making amends and ensuring that something like this never happens again. We need more people speaking out against injustice and advocating for human rights. 💪
