French Minister Under Fire Over Playboy Cover Appearance

Marlene Schiappa, the French Social Economy Minister, has found herself at the center of controversy after appearing on the cover of Playboy magazine to promote a 12-page interview on women's and LGBT rights. The image, which shows Schiappa wearing a white dress, has drawn criticism from her own party members, including Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne.

Schiappa, who has been a vocal advocate for women's rights since being appointed as the country's first ever Gender Equality Minister in 2017, had appeared on the cover of the magazine to coincide with its special edition on women's empowerment. The move was seen as an effort to highlight her commitment to promoting equality and challenging societal norms.

However, Borne expressed her disapproval over the image, stating that it was "not appropriate" during a critical period for France, which is currently dealing with widespread public opposition to President Emmanuel Macron's pension reforms. Schiappa had defended her decision, saying that defending women's rights was essential at all times.

French politician Jean-Luc Mélenchon also weighed in on the controversy, criticizing both Schiappa's appearance and Macron's recent decision to give an interview to children's magazine Pif Gadget. Mélenchon argued that the opposition had become increasingly divided, with Schiappa appearing in Playboy and Macron in Pif.

French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin has come to Schiappa's defense, calling her a "woman of character" who is courageous and confident in her style. Despite the backlash, Schiappa remains committed to promoting women's rights and challenging societal norms, with her critics unable to undermine her resolve.

Schiappa's appearance on Playboy has highlighted the ongoing debate about how politicians should engage with popular culture and challenge societal norms. While some have praised her courage and commitment to women's empowerment, others have criticized her decision as tone-deaf or self-serving. Regardless of opinion, Schiappa remains a prominent figure in French politics, using her platform to promote equality and challenge the status quo.

OMG u guys I cant even believe what just happened with Marlene Schiappa 🤯! So she appears on the cover of Playboy and its like a BIG DEAL in France right now 📰. Some ppl r like "girl bye" but others r all about her being brave & speaking her mind 💁‍♀️. I think its kinda wild that the PM even criticized her tho 🤔. What do u think tho? Should politicians be able to use popular culture to spread their message or is it just too much? 🤷‍♀️ I'm low-key fascinated by this whole situation 😂

🤔 so like what's up with this schiappa chick? she's all about promoting women's rights but then she goes and gets photographed for playboy... i mean i get it, she wants to be seen as a strong woman, but like isn't that just gonna backfire? 🙅‍♀️ and what's with the party members who are mad at her? can't they just chill? 💁‍♀️ and btw why is macron getting roasted for talking to kids' mag? 🤷‍♂️ doesn't he have anything better to do than chat with pif gadget? 📚

I think it's cool that Marlene Schiappa is standing up for what she believes in 🤩, but at the same time I can see why some people would be taken aback by her appearance on the cover of Playboy 😳. It's definitely a bold move to promote women's rights and challenge societal norms, even if it doesn't align with everyone's expectations.

I'm not sure about Jean-Luc Mélenchon's criticism, though - seems like he's trying too hard to create drama 🤷‍♂️. And I'm curious to see how this whole thing plays out in the context of France's pension reforms and Macron's interview with Pif Gadget 📰.

It's interesting that Schiappa is still committed to her cause, though - being a woman of character, as Gérald Darmanin called her 💁‍♀️. I think it's great that she's not backing down from her principles, even if they're not everyone's cup of tea ☕️.

The French Social Economy Minister, Marlene Schiappa, is getting roasted for appearing on the cover of Playboy 😒. I think it's a bit weird that she was criticized by her own party member, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, considering Schiappa has been all about promoting women's rights and challenging societal norms since 2017 🙌. It just shows how sensitive some people can be. And what's with the criticism from Jean-Luc Mélenchon? Isn't that just another way to distract from his own policies 😂.

On a more serious note, I think Schiappa made a bold move by appearing on Playboy. It's not every day you see a high-ranking politician doing something like that 🤯. While some people might say it was tone-deaf or self-serving, I think she used the platform to bring attention to an important cause and challenge societal norms 💁‍♀️. And let's be real, it's not like she's going to change her mind about women's rights just because a few people are upset 😂.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out in the French politics landscape 🤔. Will Schiappa continue to use her platform to promote equality and challenge the status quo? Only time will tell ⏰.

I think it's kinda funny that she was on Playboy for feminism 🤣...but at the same time I get why some ppl would be mad - we're tryna change societal norms here! 💁‍♀️ And come on, PM Borne, if u don't like her style, then maybe u should be out there promoting equality too instead of trying to shut others down 🙄...Mélenchon's just being extra, as per usual 😂. Gerald Darmanin is right tho, she's a strong woman who ain't afraid to express herself 💁‍♀️. Can we talk about how confusing it is that ppl are criticizing her for promoting equality? 🤷‍♂️ Like, isn't that what feminism is all about?! 💖

OMG, I'm like totally confused about Marlene Schiappa's move 🤔... One minute she's promoting women's rights and empowerment on Playboy's cover 💁‍♀️, and the next, it's like, totally cringeworthy 😳. I mean, I get that she wants to challenge societal norms, but did she have to do it in a mag that's all about, you know, being sexy? 🤷‍♀️ Still, gotta give her props for owning her style and being unapologetically herself 💖. And honestly, the more I think about it, the more I'm like, what's the big deal? 🙄 It's just a cover shoot... unless you're her party leader 😂.

I was watching this crazy documentary on Netflix about the world's best cheese makers 🧀😂. I mean, who knew there were people out there who could make such amazing cheese? And it got me thinking, have you ever tried that one type of blue cheese from France? It's so strong, it'll make you cry 😭. Anyway, back to Schiappa... I don't get why her party members are being so harsh on her. Can't they just appreciate a girl rocking a cute outfit and promoting good causes? 🤷‍♀️👗

I gotta say, I'm a bit surprised by this whole thing 🤔... Marlene Schiappa's got guts for sure! I mean, she knows that rocking up on the cover of Playboy is gonna spark some controversy 😏... but honestly, I think it's kinda cool that she's not afraid to take risks and challenge societal norms. It's like, if we're not pushing boundaries, then who is? 💁‍♀️

I've always been a fan of strong women in politics who aren't afraid to speak their minds 🗣️... and Schiappa definitely fits the bill. Of course, not everyone agrees with her approach 🤷‍♀️... but I think it's great that she's using her platform to promote equality and empower women.

The thing is, sometimes you gotta take a stand and say "screw it" if someone else isn't gonna do it for you 😆... and Schiappa seems like the kind of person who'd rather roll up her sleeves and get the job done. Love her or hate her, she's definitely making headlines! 💥

I'm not sure if Marlene Schiappa was trying to be provocative with that Playboy cover tho 🤔. I mean, she's already got the whole "first female gender equality minister" thing going for her, so why bring up Playboy? 📺 It's like, yeah, women's rights are important and all, but is this really necessary?

I think what's interesting here is how different politicians respond to criticism. Elisabeth Borne comes off as super serious and disapproving 🙄, while Jean-Luc Mélenchon just seems to be trolling everyone 🤣. And Gérald Darmanin? He's like the ultimate fanboy 💁‍♀️.

Anyway, it's always good to see politicians being bold and taking risks. Even if it doesn't always go over well 🤦‍♀️. Schiappa seems like she knows what she's doing, even if others don't agree 😊.

come on, can't we just focus on promoting equality and women's rights without making it all about controversy 😒? schiappa's appearance in playboy was meant to be empowering for women, but now everyone's talking about it instead of what it really means 🤷‍♀️. maybe we should appreciate her commitment to challenging societal norms rather than judging her style or fashion choices 👗. anyway, i think this whole thing is a bit unfair, schiappa deserves respect for her work and not her outfit 👏.

I gotta say, this whole thing with Marlene Schiappa on the cover of Playboy is like, super suspicious 🤔. I mean, what's really going on here? Is she trying to sell us out or what? She's always been a pro-women rights kind of gal, so you'd think she'd be careful about which platform she chooses to use for her message. But nope, she goes and gets all glamorous with Playboy, and suddenly everyone's like "oh, she's tone-deaf" 😒. I don't buy it. There's gotta be more to this story than meets the eye. Maybe there's some kind of hidden agenda or something 🤑.

omg yaaas schiappa slays!!! i mean who else is gonna rock a white dress on playboy cover?? 🤣👀 schiappa's all about promoting equality & challenging societal norms, and that's what matters most to me! 💁‍♀️🔥 i don't care what bonte or melenchon say, schiappa's got the confidence & courage to make a statement. 👯‍♀️ & btw, darmanin is low-key my fave for defending her 🤗
