In Minneapolis, Thousands Take to the Streets Over Immigration Crackdown

A wave of protests swept through parts of Minnesota's Twin Cities on Friday, with hundreds of businesses closing their doors and thousands of workers and students staying home. The demonstrations were sparked by concerns over the Trump administration's aggressive immigration crackdown, which has left many in the community feeling targeted.

Meanwhile, a group of at least 40 Iranian nationals is set to be deported back to Iran as early as Sunday, in what could be considered a death sentence for those facing deportation. This move follows President Donald Trump's threat to leaders of Iran over their handling of protesters.

The news has sent shockwaves across the globe, with European leaders convening an emergency summit in response to radical threats from the US. The EU is reportedly set to propose an investment package for Greenland and allocate part of its security spending towards the Arctic region.

However, not everyone is pleased with the Trump administration's latest move. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took aim at European countries during a speech on Thursday, criticizing their inability to stop Russia's aggression and their timid response to President Trump's threats.

In another bizarre development, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney was rescinded from his invitation to join President Trump's "Board of Peace". The organization is meant to oversee a peace deal between Israel and Hamas in Gaza but has now been broadened into an institution rivaling the UN.

A new twist emerged in a long-standing battle between the administration and journalists. A federal magistrate judge refused to approve a complaint against former CNN anchor Don Lemon, who was involved in a protest at a church in St. Paul.

On Capitol Hill, a House vote on War Powers Act revealed that lawmakers are getting increasingly concerned about President Trump's actions without consulting or approval from Congress. The resolution failed in an unusual tie vote of 215 to 215, with two Republicans crossing party lines in favor.

The fate of TikTok remains uncertain after President Trump and the app announced a joint venture to keep it operating in the US under new American leadership.

As the weekend approaches, some questions remain unanswered – including whether President Trump's comments on Thursday night were an accident or a deliberate move.

I'm really worried about all these protests and deportations 🤕... as a parent, I just want my kids to feel safe in their community, you know? And it sounds like some of our leaders are making decisions that are putting people in harm's way 😞... I hope we can figure out some solutions that work for everyone, not just the ones with power. I've been trying to explain to my kid why some people might be scared or hurt by these changes 🤔... it's hard to know what to say when everything feels so uncertain 🌫️... but I do know that we need to stand up for kindness and compassion 👶💖

just saw this news and its super worrying 🤕 i mean who needs protests when we already have enough problems with ppl struggling to make ends meet? btw, don't even get me started on the deportation of those iranian nationals... death sentence is way too harsh 😱 its time for us to stand together as a community & support those affected by these policies. anyone else thinking about donating to organizations that help refugees? 🤝

Just saw that Ukraine is getting mixed signals from Europe. Zelensky's got some valid points but still sounds kinda bitter 🤔💔. Can't say I blame him though, all this US diplomacy is super confusing. Trump's comments on Thursday night had the whole world wondering if he was having a stroke or planning a coup 💥😱. And now TikTok's fate is in limbo – who knew a social media app could be so influential? 🤷‍♀️💻

So I'm thinking, like, what's going on here? There are these protests happening in Minneapolis and people are super upset about this immigration crackdown that's been going on. It feels like the US is just being really aggressive with its borders and it's not even considering how this might affect the people who live there.

And then there's this thing with Iran, where they're deporting all these Iranian nationals back to their country without even giving them a chance to appeal. I mean, that's like, basically a death sentence for some of these people.

It's crazy because we're seeing so many different responses from world leaders and citizens alike. Some people are standing up against the Trump administration, while others seem to be supporting its actions. It's like, what's going on?

And have you seen this news about Mark Carney being taken out of the "Board of Peace"? Like, who is even in charge of that thing? And why was he even invited in the first place? It just seems so... weird.

I'm not sure what to make of all these developments, but one thing's for sure – it's definitely making things more complicated.

🤔 I don't think we should be freaking out about this immigration crackdown just yet. I mean, we've got people getting deported back to Iran and it's like, yeah okay that's not cool but is it really worth causing all this chaos and economic disruption? 🤑 Businesses closing down, workers staying home... what's the real impact here? Is it just a bunch of entitled Yanks making a fuss or is there something more going on? 😒 And let's be real, Trump's been threatening Iran for months now, so I'm not sure why we're surprised by this move. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t usually comment but... I'm kinda worried about what's going on with immigration and deportations right now 🤔. It feels like everyone's getting caught in the middle, whether they're immigrants themselves or just regular people who care about social justice. And it's not just the US – the whole world is watching this unfold, which can be both a good thing for awareness and a bad thing if we end up making things worse 🌎.

I think we need more dialogue, not just between governments and leaders, but also within our own communities. We should be talking to each other about how these policies affect us, and what we can do to support those who are affected 👥. It's not always easy to have these conversations, but I think it's the only way we'll ever start to move forward 🚶‍♀️.

so this whole immigration thing is just getting out of hand 🤯, thousands taking to the streets and businesses are being forced to close... it's like people are feeling really scared and vulnerable right now. and what's with all these backdoor deals? first it's Iran, then it's Greenland... like what's next? we need some clarity on this stuff.

and honestly, I don't think the EU is doing enough to address the issues at hand 🤔. they're just throwing money around to distract from the real problems. and meanwhile, Ukraine is getting roasted by Zelensky for not doing more... it's like everyone's trying to deflect blame instead of working together.

and can we talk about this "Board of Peace" thing? 🙄 it sounds like a joke... but seriously, who gets invited to be part of something that's supposed to make the world a better place? and what's with the timing? does Trump just do things on a whim?

anyway, I think the real question is: when will this all blow over? 💥

I'm not surprised by the backlash in Minneapolis 🤔. It's been clear for a while that this immigration crackdown is going to spark resistance. The fact that thousands took to the streets shows just how passionate people are about this issue 💥. But at the same time, I worry about the polarizing rhetoric coming from the Trump administration – it's hard to have constructive conversations when you're resorting to threats and intimidation 😬.

On a separate note, is it really necessary for European leaders to get involved in this? Can't they just focus on their own issues instead of inserting themselves into US politics 🤷‍♂️?
