Gaza aid deliveries still face Israeli roadblocks a week into ceasefire

Gaza's humanitarian crisis deepens as Israel blocks aid deliveries despite ceasefire.

A week into the fragile truce, the Israeli government continues to seal Gaza's Rafah crossing with Egypt, despite repeated international calls for large-scale aid deliveries. The United Nations has warned that progress is slow and that assistance must enter through all border crossings to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of the enclave. Under the deal to end Israel's genocide, which has claimed over 67,000 Palestinian lives in two years, Israel was supposed to allow a surge in aid deliveries.

Convoys carrying food and other essential supplies are struggling to reach famine-hit areas of northern Gaza due to bombed-out roads and the continued closure of key routes. The World Food Programme (WFP) has brought an average of 560 tonnes of food per day into Gaza since the ceasefire began, but this is still below what is needed. The UN agency said it has enough food to feed all of Gaza for three months.

The WFP spokesperson Abeer Etefa stated that thousands of aid vehicles would have to enter weekly to tackle widespread malnutrition, displacement, and a collapse of infrastructure. However, the group's efforts are being hindered by the continued closure of Zikim and Beit Hanoon, with Israeli forces remaining in the north of the enclave.

The humanitarian crisis is not only affecting Gaza's residents but also its healthcare system, which is barely functioning due to the influx of patients. Global medical charity Doctors Without Borders reported that many relief agencies had not fully returned to the north, leaving hospitals unable to provide regular care.

Meanwhile, Israeli attacks on Palestinians in Gaza have continued unabated. A recent artillery strike hit a small bus carrying a displaced family, causing several deaths and injuries. The fate of the others remains unknown due to the danger at the site as attempts to reach the area continue.

Hamas has insisted it is committed to returning the remains of captives still unaccounted for under Gaza's ruins. The group returned the body of one more Israeli late on Friday, but its armed wing said that returning more remains would require allowing heavy machinery and excavation equipment into Gaza.

The Israeli government's refusal to allow these essential items has created a challenge for the residents of Gaza who are experiencing "a clear disconnect" from what is being demanded. The rubble under which the bodies of deceased Palestinian captives lie presents an even greater obstacle, with only six out of 120 bodies formally identified so far.

As the truce continues, Hamas politburo member Mohammad Nazzal said the group intends to maintain security control in Gaza during an interim period and could not commit to disarmament. The next phases of the truce are expected to address the disarmament of Hamas, possible amnesty for its leaders who lay down their weapons, and the question of who will govern Gaza after the war.

The international community is calling on Israel to allow aid deliveries into Gaza without condition, but the Israeli government's refusal has only exacerbated the humanitarian crisis. The situation in Gaza remains dire, with thousands more awaiting medical attention and hundreds of thousands still in need of food and other essential supplies.

๐Ÿค• The continued closure of Gaza's borders by Israel is a stark reminder of the ongoing humanitarian disaster unfolding in the enclave. It's unconscionable that despite the fragile truce, large-scale aid deliveries are being severely hampered, leaving thousands of Palestinians without access to basic necessities like food and medical care ๐Ÿด๐Ÿš‘.

The situation on the ground is dire, with widespread malnutrition, displacement, and infrastructure collapse taking a devastating toll on the population. The fact that hospitals are struggling to provide regular care due to the influx of patients highlights the critical need for increased aid efforts ๐Ÿ’”.

It's also concerning that Israeli attacks on Palestinians continue unabated, causing further harm and uncertainty for those already caught in the middle of the conflict ๐Ÿšจ. The lack of progress in identifying the remains of deceased Palestinian captives is a particularly poignant example of the humanitarian crisis at play, with many families left without closure or answers ๐Ÿ’€.

As the truce continues to drag on, it's essential that the international community continues to pressure Israel to allow unimpeded aid deliveries into Gaza. The situation there demands immediate attention and support ๐ŸŒŽ.

๐Ÿคฏ are we really doing this again? a ceasefire is supposed to bring relief but instead aid convoys are stuck in limbo & ppl r dyin @ the rate of 100+ a day ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿด. whats the point of even having a truce if its just gonna be an excuse for more bloodshed & human suffering ๐Ÿ’”.

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ it's so bloody ridiculous that Israel is still sealing off Gaza's crossings despite the ceasefire. like, I get it, security is important but come on! ๐Ÿ™„ we're talking humanitarian crisis here, folks. The UN is saying we need a flood of aid to keep Gazans alive and now we're down to 3 months' worth of food? ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ‘Ž

Meanwhile, the Israeli military is still bombing Palestinians left and right... artillery strike hits a bus carrying a displaced family? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ what is wrong with these people?! ๐Ÿคฏ Hamas is trying to get the remains of its captives back but Israel's all "nope, not gonna happen". Like, can't we just have some basic human decency here? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

And don't even get me started on the rubble under which those Palestinian bodies lie. 6 out of 120 identified so far? ๐Ÿ˜ด That's like, what even is that? It's not like it's a secret or anything... ๐Ÿ™ƒ

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿคฏ Aid convoys are getting stuck because Israel is being super strict about who gets to bring in food & meds ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ˜ท They're making life in Gaza super hard, even after a ceasefire ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ Need more empathy, not just aid ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿ˜ฉ this is just horrific, can't believe how callous Israel is being, all that aid is piling up outside but nobody's allowed to get it in ๐Ÿšง roads are bombed out, it's like they're trying to starve the people on purpose. and what about those poor families who got hit by artillery fire ๐Ÿคฏ, can you imagine? the situation in Gaza is just a complete humanitarian disaster ๐Ÿ’”.

I'm so done with these politicians being all like "oh I know we should help Gaza but not really" ๐Ÿ™„. It's like they think the people there are just going to magically become better off if we just ignore their problems for a bit longer. Newsflash: it's not like that works. The situation in Gaza is literally getting worse by the minute and yet nobody's doing anything about it. I mean, I get that it's complicated with Hamas and all but come on Israel! You can't just block aid deliveries and expect everything to magically fix itself. It's just basic human decency at this point. We should be working together as a global community to help people in need, not just sitting around twiddling our thumbs waiting for someone else to do something. It's time to get real and take action! ๐Ÿ’ช

THE SITUATION IN GAZA IS GETTING WORSE BY THE DAY!!! ๐Ÿค• IT'S LIKE A NIGHTMARE COME TRUE - THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING AND NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING TO HELP! ๐Ÿšจ THE WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME IS TRYING ITS BEST, BUT IT'S NOT ENOUGH! ๐Ÿด 560 TONNES OF FOOD PER DAY? THAT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT GAZA NEEDS!!! ๐Ÿคฏ

AND IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT THE AID DELIVERIES... THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM IN GAZA IS COLLAPSEING! ๐Ÿ’‰ HOSPITALS ARE OVERWHELMED WITH PATIENTS AND NO ONE CAN PROVIDE REGULAR CARE! ๐Ÿฅ

I'M SO TIRED OF SEEING PHOTOS OF DISPLACED FAMILIES LIVING IN RUBBLE, WAITING FOR THEIR LOVED ONES TO BE FOUND!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ IT'S LIKE THE WORLD IS TURNING A BLIND EYE TO WHAT'S HAPPENING IN GAZA! ๐ŸŒŽ

๐Ÿคฏ this is insane what's going on in gaza right now 67k people killed Israel needs to step up their aid game ASAP 560 tons of food per day isn't enough ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿฅค we need more like 1000 tons or even 2000 tons a week. the wfp is doing its best but it's just not enough. and whats with the blockade of rafah crossing? ๐Ÿšซ how can they expect to recover when they're not getting in any supplies? it's like they're intentionally making things worse ๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿค• this is getting out of hand ... like what even is the point of a ceasefire if they're just gonna block aid deliveries? ๐Ÿšซ i get that people want to keep an eye on Hamas, but do we really need all these conditions? it's like they're not even trying to address the humanitarian crisis. and what's with the lack of progress - 3 months of food from the WFP and still thousands more in need? ๐Ÿคฏ this is a disaster. and i'm so tired of hearing about "security control" ... when does that end? ๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿค” the whole thing just feels like a mess ๐Ÿšฎ. i mean, israel's got a ceasefire going on but they're still not letting aid through? it's not even about the politics, it's just basic human decency... ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ food and medicine are essential for people to survive, and we're seeing convoys stuck in Gaza with no way in. the UN is saying we need to get all these supplies through butrael's being super strict ๐Ÿšซ.

i feel bad for the ppl stuck in northern Gaza without access to basic stuff... it's like they're living in a war zone butrael won't even let them have proper aid ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. and on top of that, we've got docs who can't do their job due to all these patients pouring in ๐Ÿฅ. i'm just wondering when the world is gonna step up and say "enough's enough"... ๐Ÿ’ก

this is getting out of control ๐Ÿคฏ the international community needs to step up its game here we're talking about human lives, not just some political point to score it's just sad that israel seems to be more worried about 'security' than actual aid deliveries meanwhile gaza is literally on its knees ๐Ÿ™ and no one is doing anything to help

๐Ÿค• my heart goes out to the people of Gaza, this is such a desperate situation and its heartbreaking to see aid convoys struggling to reach those who need it most ๐Ÿšจ. how can the international community not be doing more to pressure Israel into lifting these restrictions? ๐Ÿค” the WFP has been bringing in food for just 3 months, that's still not enough! ๐Ÿ’ช we need to keep calling out Israel and demanding they allow aid deliveries without condition. its time for action, not just words ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿค• so like what even is going on here? Israel blocks aid deliveries to Gaza despite ceasefire being like a week old? ๐Ÿ™„ how's that supposed to help the situation? it's just making things worse. i feel for those people in gaza, they're already living in hell and now they gotta deal with this too. ๐ŸŒช๏ธ when is something gonna get done about all this?!

๐Ÿค” I mean, what's up with this whole thing? So Israel blocks aid deliveries to Gaza despite a ceasefire, and now people are starving and hospitals can't even care for patients. It's like, isn't the point of a truce to help each other out? But nope, they're just gonna keep it all for themselves. I don't get why everyone's making such a big deal about Israel not letting in some heavy machinery. Is that really what's holding them back from returning those dead Palestinians' bodies? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ It just seems like more red tape to me. And on top of that, thousands of aid convoys are getting blocked because of bombed-out roads... I mean, can't we just fix the roads instead of all this back-and-forth? ๐Ÿ˜’
