I'm having a hard time understanding why Trump would commute George Santos' sentence like this 
. I mean, isn't there like, some standard process for pardons and commutations? Or is it just whatever Trump wants now? 
Santos lied about so much stuff, including his own life story - how can we trust him's claim of being unfairly treated by the system? 
And what's with the timing? Did Trump really think this would distract from something else? 
I need some sources on this one, like where did Santos's plea deal fall apart and how exactly does commuting his sentence help anyone?

. on one hand, it's good that trump has decided to give santos a second chance, maybe even show some empathy for someone who clearly messed up big time 
? if we're so willing to forgive and forget, don't we risk creating a culture where people feel like they can get away with anything, just as long as they've got the right connections or influence 
? it's like, what's the real cost of this commutation? is it really worth sparing santos from some hard time behind bars

. all we can do is keep having these kinds of conversations, questioning ourselves about what's fair and just in the end

... I mean, what does it even prove? That he can just commute someone's sentence because they're a politician friend? It's like he's setting a terrible precedent for future lawmakers 
. And to be honest, Santos doesn't exactly have a sterling reputation - the guy was caught red-handed lying about his whole life story 
. I get that Trump is trying to deflect attention from Blumenthal's own military service controversy, but this just looks like more of his signature drama 
. Anyway, I guess only time will tell how this all plays out...

And now he gets to walk out free, while people are still dealing with the consequences of their own actions? Not cool, man 
. I get that Trump wants to stick it to Blumenthal, but at the end of the day, this is all about Santos and his own personal brand of BS 
. Like, George Santos thought he could just lie his way into Congress and then expect a free pass from the Prez? Newsflash, buddy: no one likes a fake. And now that Trump is basically giving him a get out of jail card, it's just a slap in the face to all the honest people who played by the rules
