I'm not sure if the government's pause on the legislation is enough to save them from themselves... these veterans are taking a stand for what they believe in, but it seems like the system is already broken 
. 99% of the time, protests don't lead to meaningful change and all this will probably end up being another failed reform 
. The fact that Golov won't back down until they know Israel will stay democratic is admirable, but what if that's never gonna happen?
The system needs more than just a few brave souls standing up for it... we need systemic change

... I mean, I get why these veterans are fighting against the government's plans - it does seem pretty authoritarian 
. But at the same time, I can see how they might feel like their values and way of life are being threatened 
. Like, if a country can't even guarantee its own democracy, what's the point? 
... I mean, if they really care about Israel's democracy, shouldn't they be more open to compromise and finding a middle ground? 
. But on the other hand, what if the government is trying to push through this legislation because it genuinely believes it's for the best? 
... Can we just have one clear answer here?
