Los Angeles TikTok Creator Injured in Ice Raid, Charged with Assault After Shooting
A 44-year-old Los Angeles man who documents US Immigration Enforcement (ICE) raids on social media was shot by federal agents and charged with assault after a tense confrontation. Carlitos Ricardo Parias, also known as Richard LA, has gained a significant following online for his unfiltered portrayal of life in southern California.
According to court documents, the FBI had placed an administrative arrest warrant on Parias due to concerns about his whereabouts. When he attempted to flee, federal agents boxed in his car, leading to a violent confrontation. Parias allegedly tried to ram the agents' vehicles and eventually lost control, fishtailing and creating plumes of smoke.
An agent opened fire on the vehicle, hitting Parias in the elbow and causing another deputy US marshal to be injured by a ricochet bullet. Witnesses described Parias as nervous and afraid during the incident, which also involved the use of rubber bullets and tear gas.
The acting US attorney condemned the use of vehicles as "deadly weapons" that can pose a significant threat to federal agents. If convicted, Parias faces up to eight years in prison.
Parias has become a prominent figure in Los Angeles for his fearless storytelling and authentic portrayal of life in South Central LA. He recently received recognition from local officials for his impact on the community.
The incident highlights concerns about aggressive tactics employed by ICE during mass deportations across southern California. Immigrant rights advocates have long warned about the increasing use of violent measures, leading to a heightened sense of unease among communities.
Parias remains hospitalized while awaiting his court appearance. The delay in proceedings has sparked questions about the prioritization of justice and safety for all individuals involved.

The fact that he was recognized by local officials for his impact on the community is awesome, though! Maybe this whole situation will lead to some changes in how ICE operates? Fingers crossed

and what if he wasn't even armed? The fact that they had an admin arrest warrant out for him doesn't excuse the need for a firefight

the FBI placing an arrest warrant on him because of his online presence sounds like a classic case of overreach. shouldn't they be focusing on actual crimes rather than his internet activity?
