I THINK IT'S KINDA WEIRD THAT LAPD CHIEF IS FOCUSING ON "TACTICAL SAFETY CONCERNS" OVER ENFORCING A DIRECTIVE FROM THE GOVERNOR . I MEAN, IF THE GOV IS SAYING SOMETHING, YOU'D THINK THE POLICE WOULD BE WILLING TO FOLLOW RULES THAT ARE IN PLACE TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC . BUT AT THE SAME TIME, I GET WHY THEY MIGHT NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH AGITATED CROWDS AND FEDERAL IMMIGRATION AGENTS WHO ARE JUST DOING THEIR JOB . IT'S LIKE, YOU NEED TO FIND A MIDDLE GROUND HERE . AND WHAT REALLY GRINDS ME IS THAT THIS DECISION IS SPARKING DEBATE AGAIN . CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG AND FIGURE OUT HOW TO KEEP PEOPLE SAFE ?
I feel so frustrated right now thinking about these immigration agents trying to keep their faces hidden in public... like they're doing something wrong? They're just doing their job, trying to enforce the law, but because some people are worried about their identities being leaked, everyone gets upset. But what about all the times we, as a society, try to protect ourselves from someone's identity being revealed, like when you reveal your address or personal details online? It seems like a slippery slope... and LAPD chief McDonnell is taking a stand for "tactical safety concerns"... I'm just hoping he knows his team will prioritize public safety too
so like i get where lapd chief jim mcdonnell is comin from... enforcement can be super tricky and you dont wanna risk puttin people in harm's way... but at the same time, if there's a law on the books and it says no to maskin up, u gotta enforce it somehow
i was thinkin of this diagram :
```
+---------------+
| Public Safety |
+---------------+
|
|
v
+---------------+
| Enforcement |
| (with caution) |
+---------------+
|
|
v
+---------------+
| Risks vs Benefits|
+---------------+
```
like, you gotta weigh the pros and cons... if enforced properly, maskin up can be super helpful for public safety. but if not enforced, it could lead to more chaos
anywayz, i think mcdonnell made a decent call, but idk about all the others who are jumpin on his bandwagon
Masks on or off, it's all about respect . People have different views on this, but I think it's about finding common ground. If federal agents are doing their job, shouldn't we be supporting them? At the same time, if a mask is gonna put someone at risk, then maybe they should wear one . It's not about enforcement, it's about safety, right? Let's focus on de-escalation and finding solutions that work for everyone
