US Senator John Fetterman opened up about his recent battle with depression after winning a tight election in Pennsylvania. The Democrat took the oath of office on April 18, becoming the first blind person to serve in Congress.

Fetterman said that he was diagnosed with depression and anxiety just two months before taking office, when he was running for Senate. He revealed how the diagnosis impacted his life during an interview with CBS News' Gayle King.

He admitted that he initially struggled with accepting his diagnosis but eventually began talking to friends, family members, and mental health professionals about it.

Fetterman credited therapy sessions as a key factor in managing his symptoms. He emphasized the importance of having support systems for one's mental well-being.

omg I'm so happy for John Fetterman πŸŽ‰πŸ‘ he's like totally inspiring me to talk more openly about my own struggles with anxiety 😬 I've been meaning to start therapy for ages but I don't know where to start... does anyone have any good recommendations? I mean, it sounds like the therapist thing really helped him and I'm all about that πŸ€— anyway, it's amazing that he was brave enough to share his story and help others feel more comfortable talking about their mental health πŸ’• I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed with school lately too so maybe I'll look into some mindfulness exercises or something πŸ™

πŸŒ±πŸ’†β€β™‚οΈ I'm so glad we're finally talking openly about mental health, especially with someone as high-profile as John Fetterman sharing their story 🀝. It takes a lot of courage to admit you need help, and it's amazing that he was able to overcome his struggles with depression and anxiety πŸ’ͺ. As a community, let's keep spreading awareness and support for those who are fighting the good fight against mental health stigmas πŸ’•. Fetterman's story is a great reminder that taking care of our minds is just as important as taking care of our bodies πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ.

Just watched this interview 🀯 with Sen John Fetterman on CBS News. I think its amazing he's being so open about his struggles with depression and anxiety πŸ’”πŸ‘€. Having a diagnosis can be tough, but seeking help is the first step towards healing πŸ’«. I love how he credits therapy sessions for managing his symptoms 🀝. Mental health is just as important as physical health πŸ‘. We need more people like Sen Fetterman who are willing to talk about their struggles and raise awareness about mental wellness 🌈. His openness is inspiring and might help others feel less alone πŸ˜”.

I'm glad we're finally talking about mental health in politics πŸ™Œ! Fetterman's openness is super inspiring, especially coming from someone who's breaking barriers like being blind in a prominent position. I'm all for it πŸ’ͺ. But, can we talk about the fact that he only shared this after winning the election? Like, what about before then? How did he manage his symptoms during the campaign trail? πŸ€” Was there even support available to him back then? I'd love to know more about how he handled that aspect of things πŸ’•. Anyway, it's awesome to see him using his platform for mental health awareness and supporting others who might be struggling 😊.

Blind in the Senate seat 🀯, I'm actually kinda inspired by this guy John Fetterman... he's been open about his struggles with depression and anxiety, which is super refreshing to see in public life. It's like, we need more people talking about their mental health, especially after something as intense as an election πŸ—³οΈ. And it's awesome that he credits therapy sessions for helping him manage his symptoms - mental health is just as important as physical health, you know? πŸ’‘ Fetterman's also showing us that with the right support system (family, friends, pros...), you can get through tough times. Not sure if more politicians will follow suit, but fingers crossed! 🀞
