Machado presents Trump with her Nobel award at White House meeting

María Corina Machado, the Venezuelan opposition leader who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023, has presented President Donald Trump with her medal at a meeting at the White House. According to sources close to Machado, she expressed her commitment to freedom and democracy in Venezuela during the encounter, saying it was a recognition of Trump's leadership.

Trump had previously described Machado as a "freedom fighter," but rejected her as a candidate for leading Venezuela after the removal of President Nicolás Maduro. However, he praised her efforts, calling her a "wonderful woman who has been through so much."

Machado initially offered to share her Nobel Peace Prize with Trump during an interview in November last year, sparking controversy. The Nobel committee had stated that the prize was not transferable, and Machado later clarified that she intended to give it to him as a personal gesture of gratitude.

The White House has confirmed that Trump met Machado for over 30 minutes on Thursday, and described the encounter as "a great honor." The visit comes amid ongoing tensions between the US and Venezuela, with the Trump administration seeking to secure democratic elections in the country.

awww man this is so sweet 🤗 Maria Corina Machado is truly an inspiration to many people around the world! it's amazing that she took the initiative to give away her Nobel Peace Prize as a personal gift to Donald Trump, despite what others might think about their past interactions 😊. i think it says a lot about her character and commitment to freedom and democracy in Venezuela... even if they didn't always see eye to eye 🤝. plus, it's awesome that she's still standing strong after everything she's been through 💪. she's definitely an icon for many! 👏

🤔 Trump's meeting with Machado is so weird 🙄... like what even happened there? 😂 She offered to share her Nobel Prize with him and he still didn't want to lead Venezuela? 🤷‍♂️ I mean, some people just don't know how to handle power, right? 💁‍♀️ And Machado is all about freedom and democracy in Venezuela... maybe Trump should take a page from her book? 😊

I'm kinda surprised that María Corina Machado is giving Trump her Nobel Peace Prize medal... I mean, it's a pretty bold move, especially after all the controversy surrounding her initial offer 😂. I guess you could say she's trying to make peace with her past, even if some people might think she's being a little too accommodating 🤔.

But on a more serious note, I do think it's cool that Machado is still passionate about freedom and democracy in Venezuela. It's not always easy to take a stand when the odds are against you, but she seems like someone who's willing to put her country first ❤️.

It's also interesting that Trump is praising Machado as a "freedom fighter" - I mean, it's not every day that someone gives him credit for something 😂. Maybe this is a sign that he's finally starting to understand the value of working with people from different countries and backgrounds 🤝.

Overall, I think this meeting between Trump and Machado could be a positive development in US-Venezuela relations. Fingers crossed that it leads to some real progress on securing democratic elections in Venezuela 🤞

idk why maria corina machado would even think about giving trump her nobel peace prize lol 🤷‍♀️ she's a hero for venezuela, not some pawn for us politicians 👊 what's next? is trump gonna start giving out his own "awards" just because he feels generous 😒 anyway, at least it shows machado's still committed to the cause, even if it means rubbing shoulders with someone like trump 🤝

🤔 I'm surprised by María Corina Machado's move to gift Trump her Nobel Peace Prize medal... like, it's a pretty big deal for someone to just give away their award like that! 🤑 At the same time, I can kinda see why she'd want to do it - they've had some history, right? And Trump did say some nice things about her in the past. Still, there was that whole controversy thing when she offered to share it with him... maybe Machado's just trying to keep the peace and move forward? 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, I'm curious to see how this all plays out - especially with US-Venezuela relations being so tense right now... 👀

So Machado just waltzes into the White House and drops off her Nobel Peace Prize like it's a package? 📨 I need to see some video of this meeting, where exactly did she give it to him? And what's with Trump's claim that he was doing her a favor by meeting with her? Wasn't he actually rejecting her as a candidate for leading Venezuela back in the day?

I'm also curious about Machado's intentions - why is she giving away her Nobel Peace Prize, especially if the committee said it wasn't transferable? Is this just a publicity stunt or something more? 🤔 And what does Trump get out of this deal? Is he trying to legitimize his own presidential ambitions by associating himself with someone he previously rejected?

I'd love to see some more info on this before I start buying into the narrative. Where's the source on this? 📰

Trump finally doing something right 😊 after all those drama with Ukraine. It's cool that Machado is keeping her word about sharing her Nobel Peace Prize, I mean it's not like she's gonna keep it for herself or something 💁‍♀️. But seriously, what's the real motive behind Trump reaching out to Venezuela? Is it just an attempt to ease tensions or is he actually planning something big? 🤔 Either way, it's a good move, Machado seems like a genuinely cool person and I love how she's keeping her integrity 💯. Maybe this is a sign that we'll see some progress in the region soon 👀.

I'm low-key surprised by this move 🤯. I mean, Trump's been super critical of Venezuela's government in the past, so it's weird that Machado would be all about giving him her Nobel Peace Prize. Like, is she trying to make amends or something? 😐 Anyway, I guess you could say she's showing some solidarity with his "democracy" stance 🤝. But what's really interesting is how this whole thing goes down – did the Nobel committee have any say in it at all? 🤑

🤔 So I'm reading this and I'm like what's going on? María Corina Machado offering her Nobel Peace Prize to Donald Trump at the White House? That's some wild stuff. I get that she wants to express her gratitude, but come on... it's a Nobel Peace Prize! Can't just give it away willy-nilly. 😂 I mean, I'm all for recognizing Trump's leadership and all, but this feels like a PR stunt to me. The White House is trying to spin this as some kind of great honor, but let's be real, it's still a bit weird. 🤷‍♀️

just saw this news about María Corina Machado giving her Nobel Peace Prize to trump 🤔 what's going on here? seems like a weird gesture to me. i mean machado has been a strong advocate for democracy and freedom in venezuela, but sharing her prize with someone who has had some pretty rough history when it comes to politics...it just doesn't add up 🙄 maybe there's more to this story than what we're seeing on the surface? also, does the Nobel committee really allow people to transfer their prizes like that? seems like a bit of an exception to be made for trump 🤷‍♀️

awww this is so amazing 😊 maria's dedication to freedom and democracy in venezuela is truly inspiring 🌎 she's been through so much and still fighting for what's right 💪 it's great that trump is giving her the recognition she deserves, even if they didn't exactly see eye to eye on venezuela's future 🤝 but honestly, who are we to judge? machado's commitment to freedom is something we can all learn from ❤️ let's hope this meeting sparks a positive change in venezuela 🌈

I'm not sure how I feel about this 🤔... On one hand, it's awesome that María Corina Machado is receiving recognition for her work on freedom and democracy in Venezuela. She's clearly a strong advocate for human rights and it's great to see people like her getting the respect they deserve.

On the other hand, I'm not sure why Trump even got involved here 🤷‍♂️... He didn't exactly have the best track record with Venezuela during his time in office 😬. And now, he's trying to use Machado as a way to legitimize himself? It feels like he's trying to polish his image or something.

I do think it's cool that Machado is willing to give her Nobel Peace Prize to Trump, though 🙏... It says a lot about her character and commitment to making a difference. But at the same time, I'm not sure if this is really going to help anything between the US and Venezuela 🤔.

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s pretty weird that María Corina Machado is using her Nobel Peace Prize to try to curry favor with Donald Trump 🤔. I mean, I get that she's a strong advocate for freedom and democracy, but isn't there a better way to do that than by basically buying him a medal? 😒

I also don't think it's cool that the US is using her as a proxy to push their agenda on Venezuela 💸. Like, Machado has her own thoughts and opinions, you know? Can't the US just support her efforts instead of trying to control her message? 🤷‍♀️

It feels like this whole thing is about Trump wanting to look good, rather than actually doing any real work to help Venezuela 📸. I don’t know if Machado is naive enough to think that this meeting will actually lead to positive change, but it's hard not to feel skeptical 😒

Ugh, this is just another example of how corrupt the Nobel Peace Prize has become 🤢... I mean, who needs a prize that's "not transferable" anyway? 🙄 It's all just a PR stunt at this point. And Machado thinks sharing it with Trump is going to help him get re-elected or something? Please, she's just trying to curry favor with the guy who actually cares about regime change 💸... and what does Machado really care about? The freedom of Venezuelans or her own career advancement? 🤷‍♀️ At least the White House is being upfront about this meeting – it's not like they're hiding anything from us 😏. Still, I'm not buying all this "great honor" nonsense... there's gotta be more to this story than meets the eye 🤔.

man this is wild think about it, we gotta respect people's power to give back what they believe in, even if others don't recognize it 🤯 machado's like a beacon of hope for many venezuelans who've been through so much, but you know what? Trump's reaction was all over the place, it's like he's trying to be all things to everyone 🙄 still, i think it's cool that she showed up with her medal and gave it as a gift, that takes some serious courage 💪 it just goes to show that even in tough times, we can choose to stand by what we believe in, no matter what others say or do 👍

omg what an amazing meeting 💖!!! i'm so happy maria corina machado is taking a stand for freedom & democracy in venezuela 🌟 it's clear she has so much respect & admiration for president trump, and i think that's really cool ❤️ although some people might've thought her offer to share the nobel peace prize was weird at first , i think it's super sweet how she wanted to give it to him as a personal gesture of gratitude 🤗 plus, it's awesome that he's recognizing her efforts & commitment to making a difference 💪 can't wait to see what other amazing things these two will do together 😊

Just saw this crazy news about María Corina Machado presenting Donald Trump with her Nobel Peace Prize 🤯! I'm not sure what's more surprising - that she offered it to him or that he actually accepted 😂. It's been a wild ride for both of them, from being called a "freedom fighter" to now receiving the prize itself. But seriously, Machado has been advocating for democracy in Venezuela for ages, and Trump's support (even if it was just as a personal gesture) is still kinda weird 🤔. Still, I guess when you've won the Nobel Prize, you can do what feels right, even if others might raise an eyebrow 😊. What do you guys think about this unexpected meetup? Should Machado be praised for her commitment to democracy or is it just a PR stunt? 🤷‍♀️

idk about this, seems like trump's getting all the attention again 🤔. machado's got a point tho, someone's gotta stand up for democracy in venezuela, even if it means giving trump her medal 🏆. i mean, at least she acknowledged his leadership, but did he really deserve the prize? it's weird that he was so down on her when she was running for president and now he's getting all the praise 🤷‍♂️. anyhoo, hopefully machado keeps pushing for change in venezuela 💪
