A man in Arkansas rode out a tornado by hiding inside his pest control van, which is equipped with a safe room.

Cody Coombes, who was driving the van through Little Rock, Arkansas, when the tornado hit. The National Weather Service said that an EF-3 tornado tore through Pulaski and Lonoke counties, bringing winds of up to 165mph.

Coombes described hearing the tornado roar as it approached his van but said he didn't feel the full force of the storm because of the strong walls of the vehicle. He managed to keep himself safe inside while his car was struck by debris outside.

The tornado caused significant damage and loss of life in the region. The National Weather Service reported that one person died in North Little Rock and four people were killed in Wynne.

Coombes said he learned a valuable lesson from the experience and vowed to always prioritize road safety when severe weather is forecasted.

His harrowing account has left many on social media expressing their admiration for Coombes' quick thinking and bravery during the tornado.

I mean, can you believe that dude's van is basically a safe room? I was reading about this crazy story of some guy in Arkansas who rode out a tornado inside his pest control van 🤯. Apparently it had this built-in safe room thingy which helped him keep safe during the storm. The winds were super strong, like 165mph or something!

I'm just thinking how lucky he was to be in that van and not have to deal with the full force of the tornado. And then his car got hit by debris outside... that's just insane. I can imagine how scary it must've been for him, but also kind of cool that he was able to keep himself safe.

It's a good reminder to always be prepared when bad weather is forecasted, you know? Like, if you're driving and there's a tornado warning, try to find a safe place to park or something. Safety first, right? 🚨

People rarely succeed by doing ordinary things done ordinary well 🤔

He kept himself safe inside while his car was struck by debris outside... that's some crazy driving skills 💪

omg can you believe that guy in arkansas rode out a tornado in his pest control van with a safe room 🤯 it's insane how lucky he was that the walls of the van protected him from the wind... i mean, 165mph is crazy fast! what if he hadn't been driving that van and just had his regular car? who knows what would've happened to him?

anyway, i'm so glad he made it out alive 🙏 and more importantly, he's prioritizing road safety now which is super important. we should all be doing our part to stay safe during bad weather. the fact that social media is celebrating his bravery is amazing too 💕 it just goes to show that there are still good people in the world who are willing to help each other out in times of need.

I can't believe that guy was so lucky! 😲 Riding out a tornado in a van, safe room and all? That's just insane. I mean, imagine being driving along and then BAM, you're in the middle of a tornado. The thought alone gives me goosebumps. I'm glad he made it through okay but also super worried about those people who got hurt or lost their lives.

I think this is really good reminder to always prioritize road safety when severe weather is forecasted. Like Coombes said, he learned a valuable lesson and we all should take heed. It's crazy how the van became his lifesaver, though? That's some seriously clever thinking right there.

The National Weather Service needs to do better with warning times, imo. If they'd given us more time to prepare... who knows what could've been avoided. But still, it's a miracle Coombes made it out alive! 🙏

omg I'm still in shock 😱 that dude was literally hiding inside his pest control van 🐜🚗! like what would you even do in a situation like that? I feel bad for all those people who lost their lives though 💔. 165mph is insane 🤯 how did he not get hurt from the vibrations or something? 🤷‍♀️ did they have to rebuild an entire town? 🏗️ that's crazy expensive 💸 anyway, I'm glad Cody made it out safe and sound 💕 it's a good reminder to always check the weather forecast before hitting the road ⛈️

🤯 dude I'm low-key impressed that this guy was able to keep himself safe in his pest control van 🐜😂 it's wild to think about how crazy those walls of his must've felt like a bunker or something. And honestly, who wouldn't wanna be stuck inside a metal box while the outside world is getting destroyed by 165mph winds? I mean, it's not exactly the most glamorous experience, but safety over all else, right? 🙏 And let's give credit to Coombes for being prepared and staying calm under pressure – that takes skill 💪. Guess you could say his pest control van is like a real-life fallout shelter... who knew?! 😂

Omg that's crazy! 🤯 I'm still shaking my head about this guy riding out a tornado in his pest control van lol, it's like something out of a movie! I mean, who needs an escape room when you've got a safe room inside your van right? 😂 The fact that he was able to keep himself safe and even help others by driving around and helping people stranded after the storm is just amazing. It's not every day you hear about someone being so prepared and resourceful in the face of disaster.

And honestly, I'm also kinda impressed that he didn't freak out or get too spooked during the whole ordeal. It's a huge relief to know that people are doing everything they can to stay safe when severe weather hits. Fingers crossed that everyone affected by this tornado gets the help and support they need! 🙏

🤯 What's up with these super safe vehicles? I mean, who designs a van that can withstand a tornado? 😂 And the fact that it was equipped with a safe room is just crazy! My cousin lives in Arkansas and we always worry about those storms when she calls us to check in. Glad this guy made it out alive though. It's crazy how people react in emergency situations, some would've freaked out, but he stayed calm...that's the kind of skills you need when disaster strikes 🌪️

I don’t usually comment but that guy who rode out a tornado in his pest control van is literally a superhero 🤯🚑 I mean, can you imagine being in that situation? The walls of the van must have been like a bunker or something! It’s crazy to think he was driving through Little Rock when it happened. I don’t know how he kept calm but kudos to him for getting out safely... and learning a valuable lesson about road safety 🌪️💡
