My pet sleeps all day and all night. Is that normal?

I'm kinda surprised that vet Carlo Siracusa says multiple short cycles of sleep are beneficial for dogs & cats 🐢😴... doesn't that sound like a lot of napping? I mean, my cat spends most of her day snoozing too, but she's also super playful in the evenings. Does that mean she's not getting enough rest or is just naturally wired to be active? πŸ€”

And what about dogs? Can 80% of their day really be spent sleeping? That sounds like a lot of chillin' 😴... I'm worried that my pup might be missing out on some exercise and mental stimulation. Shouldn't we be making sure they're getting enough physical activity & mental stimulation too, not just sleeping all day? πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸΎ

omg i feel like my cat is sleeping all the time lol she's always snoozing on the couch or bed 🐱😴 but i guess that's normal right? i mean my dog is the same way he can fall asleep anywhere anytime πŸ˜‚ sometimes i think they just love us too much and we're like their security blanket or something πŸ€— anyway i've been trying to keep a record of when they sleep and when they're awake because it's so interesting to see what patterns they have... my cat always sleeps a lot during the day but then she gets this weird burst of energy at night and starts playing with her toys like crazy 😹πŸ”₯

Ugh I'm literally so exhausted just reading about how much sleep our pets need 🀯 like 80% of a dog's day is spent snoozing? that's like me sleeping through my alarm clock every morning πŸ˜‚ but seriously guys have you ever noticed how cats always seem to know when you're having a bad day and just decide to "sleep" on your lap? I'm like they're secretly judging us or something πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ and the part about observing their behavior is so true - my cat is literally a master of sleep schedule manipulation, if she wants 3 am snacks, she'll wake me up πŸ˜‚. But for real tho, it's so important to create a comfy environment for our pets, I've noticed that when my dog has a good sleeping spot he actually sleeps better and is way more relaxed πŸŒ™.

idk about this tho πŸ€”... I read that dogs are supposed to be sleeping 12-14 hours a day but some breeds like huskies and malamutes need way less sleep cuz they're naturally hyperactive πŸ˜‚ what's considered normal for pets anyway? is it based on breed or individual personality? also, how can we even measure if our pet is just relaxed vs actually sleeping? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ shouldn't we be looking out for other signs of anxiety or stress like excessive grooming or panting? sources, pls? 😊

omg I have like 3 cats at home and my little fur baby is literally sleeping all day πŸ±πŸ’€ I mean it's normal or whatever but sometimes I worry that they're just stressed out cuz we moved last month and everything's still kinda chaotic 🏠😬. Anyways I started keeping a diary of when they sleep and wake up and guess what? My oldest cat, Bella, is sleeping like 18 hours a day πŸ˜‚! Is that normal tho?

omg 40% of dog owners don't even know their pets are getting enough sleep lol 🀣 i checked my pup's vitals last night and they were asleep for like 90% of the day πŸ“Š did you know that 1 in 5 cats has sleep disorders? 🐈 60% of cat owners think their feline friends are sleeping when they're actually just chillin' 😴 stats show that dogs spend more time sleeping than humans, even accounting for naps! πŸ‘€ average dog sleeps 12-14 hours a day, whereas humans only get like 7-9 hours 🀯 meanwhile, some pets can have up to 20% of their brain activity while they're snoozing 😴🧠 it's wild thinking about how much we don't know about our furry friends' brains πŸΎπŸ’‘
