NBA postpones Timberwolves-Warriors game in aftermath of Border Patrol-involved shooting in Minneapolis

The NBA game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors was postponed due to a fatal shooting involving a Border Patrol agent. The agency's statement said that an officer was injured while responding to a disturbance and that medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid, but the subject was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the suspect was armed with a gun and two magazines, and had no ID. The incident is described as "maximum damage" by DHS officials who stated that an individual wanted to do maximum harm to law enforcement officers.

This latest incident comes after Renee Good, 37, was killed while operating a vehicle that agents ordered her to exit, according to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. In the shooting, Good refused to exit her vehicle and "attempted to run them over and ram them with her vehicle," according to DHS officials.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr called for justice in Renee Good's killing, stating that "it's shameful" that law enforcement officers who commit murder seemingly get away with it. The NBA game between the Timberwolves and Warriors has been rescheduled for Sunday.

In Minneapolis, where the incident occurred, the area is tense following a protest by ICE agents in January 2026, which resulted in tear gas being fired at protesters. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz urged the agents to leave his state after the shooting.

The NBA has stated that it prioritized the safety and security of the Minneapolis community by postponing the game on Saturday.

can u believe this? like, postpone a nba game because there's a fatal shooting... sounds pretty 'max damage' to me πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ i mean, what's next? cancel the whole league? but hey, at least the game is rescheduled for sunday, so we can all just pretend everything is fine again πŸ™ƒ. btw, steve kerr is kinda right though, it is pretty shameful when someone kills a cop and gets away with it... but let's not jump to conclusions here πŸ˜’.

πŸ€• Police brutality is a big problem in this country πŸš”πŸ˜’. Can't have athletes playing while families are still grieving over random shootings πŸ’€πŸˆ. Game needs to be rescheduled for when everyone is ready to move forward πŸ‘.

This is just getting crazy 🀯. I mean, can't we all just get along? There's this huge incident where a Border Patrol agent gets shot to death in broad daylight and now a whole NBA game gets postponed because of it... it's like, what even is the point here?

But seriously, have you seen the stats on these Border Patrol shootings? Like, Renee Good was killed over a routine stop. And now this latest incident where some crazy person just goes around shooting at law enforcement officers... it's like we're living in a movie πŸŽ₯.

And don't even get me started on Steve Kerr saying that law enforcement officers who kill people seem to get away with it. That's so true... I mean, what about the guy who killed Renee Good? Is he still out there free as a bird?

The NBA game has been rescheduled for Sunday but I think they should just cancel it altogether πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. What's the point of having a game when you've got people being shot and killed over here?

πŸ€” I'm genuinely troubled by this latest incident, especially with the suspect being armed and not having any ID. It's sad that this had to happen in a city already dealing with tension from previous ICE-related protests 🚨. As for the NBA game postponement, while it's understandable they prioritized community safety, it feels like another layer of sports getting put on hold when people are genuinely hurting πŸ’”.

The whole situation reminds me of how fragile life can be and how we need to approach these situations with empathy and caution πŸ•ŠοΈ. I think the NBA should consider rescheduling games in areas where tensions run high so that they don't become a distraction from real-life concerns ⏰.

this is getting outta hand 🀯, another life lost and no one's holding ICE accountable for their actions in our country πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ, what's going on with our justice system?! the Warriors coach saying it's shameful that law enforcement officers get away with murder is a huge understatement 🚫, we need real change now πŸ’ͺ, not just empty words from politicians πŸ‘Š, and another thing, why are we still waiting for answers about Renee Good's killing? 😑

omg i cant even right now ... like a border patrol agent gets killed in the line of duty & the nba game gets postponed but like what about all the other times law enforcement have messed up so bad? 🀯 i feel for the family of the agent and everything, but it just seems like every time there's a high-profile death, it's always some crazy situation that leads to it... πŸ€” and now this latest incident in minneapolis is still fresh in my mind from january last year when ice agents were protesting and tear gas was used on protesters 🚫πŸ’₯ i wish the nba would just have been more proactive about addressing this issue instead of just postponing the game for a day ... like, what's the point of even having a schedule if it's just gonna be all over the place? πŸ˜’

I don't know about this... The NBA game getting postponed just feels like another example of how our priorities are all out of whack πŸ€”. I mean, we're so used to seeing athletes get cancelled for saying something that's "insensitive" or "offensive", but a Border Patrol agent actually gets shot and killed and the game gets postponed? That's not exactly setting a good precedent.

I'm all for keeping our communities safe, especially during times of unrest 🚨. But at the same time, I think we need to make sure that our response isn't just about avoiding controversy, but also about holding people accountable when they break the law πŸ’”. It's all very well for Steve Kerr to be calling for justice, but what about the officer who shot and killed Renee Good? Where's the accountability there? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Just saw this news about the Timberwolves Warriors game getting postponed πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. What's going on with these fatal shootings? It feels like law enforcement is caught in a really tough situation, but it doesn't feel right when innocent people get hurt πŸ˜”. Hope that everyone involved gets the help they need and justice is served πŸ’―. Don't forget those who can't speak out, they're counting on us πŸ™.

I'm like "Yaaas, postpone the game!! πŸ™Œ" because I feel for the officers who were responding to a disturbance... but at the same time, what if they overreacted? πŸ€” Like, no one wants people dead, right? But also, shouldn't we be able to know who's behind these things before they get all up in arms? πŸ’‘ ID or not, it's still kinda weird. And can we talk about how the police department is handling all this? πŸ˜’ They should be focusing on finding answers and giving justice... but I guess that's easier said than done. The whole situation is just so complicated 🀯.

πŸ€” this is just too much gonna make you wonder what's really goin on... like, a Border Patrol agent gets killed and the whole thing is swept under the rug? an officer is injured but still manages to kill someone and then it's "maximum damage" from the suspect? 🚨 sounds like a cover-up to me. and now there's another incident with this Good lady gettin' killed by agents for just tryin' to leave her car... πŸš— what's really goin on here? is it just an accident or are they tryin' to silence people who speak out against the system? i'm thinkin' conspiracy, you know? πŸ’ and now the NBA game gets postponed 'cause of all this... maybe they're tryin' to avoid gettin' caught up in whatever's goin on. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

can u believe this?! 🀯 a fatal shooting involving a Border Patrol agent, and they're still not saying much about it. it's like, what are they hiding? πŸ˜’ and now the NBA is rescheduling the game for sunday, but i'm still trying to process why the police didn't handle that situation better... like, didn't they know the suspect was armed?! πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ and i'm also wondering about the protest in jan 2026, it's crazy how ice agents are just roaming around in our communities, causing tension. 🚨 we need to talk about this more than just rescheduling a basketball game... πŸ‘Š

πŸ€• I'm really shocked about this news... A fatal shooting, especially one that's related to law enforcement, is just heartbreaking πŸ˜”. It makes me wonder what we can do as a society to prevent these types of incidents from happening in the future πŸ€”.

I also feel bad for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors fans who were looking forward to watching the game on Saturday... But I'm glad that everyone's safety was prioritized, even if it meant postponing the game πŸ€.

And what's really concerning me is the fact that an individual wanted to do maximum harm to law enforcement officers... That just doesn't make sense to me. We need to find a way to prevent this kind of violence from happening in our communities πŸ’”.

I'm not sure what the solution is, but I think we need to have some serious conversations about how we can work together to keep everyone safe 🀝.

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ so we're gonna postpone an NBA game because of a Border Patrol agent getting shot, but what about all those people who are literally being shot every day in America? Like, can't they prioritize that for once? πŸ™„ It's just so convenient to cancel the game when something bad happens to someone with a gun. And what's up with the suspect not having an ID? Are we supposed to be like "oh well" about that? πŸ€” The NBA is really leading the way in prioritizing sports over human life... I mean, who needs basketball when you've got murder and mayhem, right? πŸ˜’

omg what's going on with this country πŸ€―β€β™‚οΈ, can't a guy even enjoy an NBA game in peace? i mean i feel for the law enforcement officer who got shot but at the same time, you gotta ask why there are so many incidents like this happening in the US right now πŸ€”. it's not just about the number of guns or the amount of violence, it's about the fact that we're not even having a real conversation about how to prevent these things from happening πŸ’¬. and then you have politicians like Kristi Noem saying "maximum damage" like that's okay πŸ™„. i'm all for keeping our communities safe but we need to do better than just throwing more guns at the problem 🚫. anyway, back to the game... let's hope the rescheduled match on Sunday is lit πŸ”₯!

πŸ€• this is so sad rn, another innocent person lost their life... πŸ™ it's just not right when someone tries to run over law enforcement officers & get shot in return πŸ’” & then there are incidents like this where an NBA game gets postponed 'cause of it πŸ“Ί the security of a whole community should be a priority 1st tho 🚨 especially with protests & stuff like that happening lately... 🀯

man thats so sad πŸ€•... but gotta give credit to the Border Patrol agent who responded to the disturbance, they're like real-life heroes πŸ’ͺ... and its crazy how DHS is saying this guy was trying to do maximum damage, it's like, what can we even do with someone like that? 🀯... the NBA postponing the game to prioritize safety is def a good move, can't have anyone getting hurt over a basketball game πŸ˜‚... but seriously, hope they get the shooter brought in and justice served for Renee Good and all those other victims πŸ™... and I guess its just another reason to think about how we need more community support and understanding 🀝

OMG, this is sooo sad!!! πŸ€• I'm still trying to process what happened to that Border Patrol agent... πŸ™ It's like, how can something like this happen in our country?! 🀯 The fact that the suspect was armed and had no ID just makes it even more terrifying! 😨

And poor Renee Good's family must be going through so much right now πŸ€—. I feel for them, you know? It's just not fair that someone can die like that in a car chase... πŸ’” Steve Kerr saying justice needs to be served is like, totally needed right now!!! πŸ™Œ

I'm all about the Warriors and Steph Curry btw, but this whole situation is just heartbreaking πŸ€•. I hope the NBA game gets rescheduled ASAP so we can get our hoops fix back πŸ’ͺ!

man this is just getting outta hand 🀯 like what's next? a cop kills someone and then gets off scot-free? πŸš” it's like they're above the law or something. i'm not saying that's definitely gonna happen but it feels like we're living in a world where police brutality is just accepted as a fact of life. and now there's this incident with the Border Patrol agent... that's just crazy 😲 how many lives are being lost because of these kinds of situations? and what about Renee Good, she was just trying to protect herself πŸš— it's just not right. i'm all for law and order but this is getting outta control 🀯

πŸš¨πŸ’” this is getting crazy! I mean, who wants a sporting event when there's already drama unfolding in your city? The latest incident where a Border Patrol agent got shot by some extremist is just heartbreaking... I can imagine how scared everyone must've been 🀯. And to think that the suspect was basically aiming for maximum harm - what kind of sick mind comes up with that?! πŸ’£

It's not like we haven't seen this before, though... Renee Good and the other officer who got shot last year were victims of a system that seems to be failing them 🚫. The lack of accountability is just infuriating! Steve Kerr's words are spot on - justice has got to be served here βš–οΈ.

And let's not forget about the aftermath in Minneapolis... tear gas being fired at protesters in January? How do you even recover from that?! Tim Walz's decision to ask ICE agents to leave Minnesota is a step in the right direction, but it's just a Band-Aid solution πŸ’‰. We need real systemic changes here πŸ”„.
