Netanyahu vows to pressure Hamas for return of dead Israeli hostages, threatens Gaza aid cutoff.
In a memorial ceremony in Jerusalem on Thursday, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his government's determination to secure the release of all 19 remaining dead Israeli and foreign hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. The comments came hours after the Islamist group returned the bodies of two more hostages, taking the total number of dead hostages released since Monday to nine out of 28.
Netanyahu vowed that Israel would continue its fight against terrorism "with full force," saying: "We will not allow evil to raise its head." He also threatened to restrict aid flowing into Gaza unless all the bodies are returned.
Hamas, however, insisted it remained committed to a ceasefire deal that includes retrieving all remaining corpses. The group's leader, Ismail Haniyeh, said in a statement: "We will not be deterred by threats and intimidation."
