Newborn Girl Found Abandoned in Penn Station, Authorities Search for Parents

A young baby girl was discovered on Monday morning at Penn Station in Manhattan, wrapped in a blanket and conscious but with her umbilical cord still attached. The 7-month-old infant was left unattended on the stairway leading to the southbound trains, sparking an investigation by the New York Police Department (NYPD).

The discovery was made around 9:30 am local time after an anonymous caller reported seeing a baby abandoned in the area. Upon arrival, first responders from the FDNY and NYPD found the baby wrapped only in a sheet but still alert. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment and care.

In a bizarre twist, investigators are now reviewing surveillance footage from Penn Station to identify who may have left the baby there. The parents of the infant remain unknown as of Monday afternoon.

New York's Safe Haven Law allows parents to surrender newborns at hospitals, police stations, or fire stations without facing criminal charges if they leave the child in responsible care. However, authorities believe that leaving a 7-month-old baby abandoned may not meet the law's intent and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the infant's discovery.

The NYPD has launched an investigation into the incident, reviewing footage from nearby security cameras to identify potential suspects. As of now, no arrests have been made, and parents of the newborn remain unidentified.

This shocking case raises questions about what drove someone to abandon a young baby in one of the busiest transportation hubs in New York City. The NYPD's ongoing investigation aims to unravel the mystery surrounding this abandoned infant's lifeless past.

😱🤯 Man, that's just freaky! You see I was on my way to grab coffee last week and I saw this woman with a baby carrier on the subway. She looked super stressed out but you could tell she was trying her best. Anyway, it made me think about what would drive someone to abandon a kid in public like that. Is she having some major crisis or did something go down? I don't know man, it's just so sad. And Penn Station? That's not exactly the safest place for a baby... 😕👶

I'm literally torn up about this whole thing... I mean, who leaves a 7-month-old baby alone at Penn Station?! 🤯 But at the same time, like, what if she was abandoned because her parents were struggling with something personal and they didn't know what else to do? And isn't it possible that she was left there by someone who genuinely wanted to give her up for adoption but wasn't sure where to turn? I don't know, man... it's all so confusing. 🤷‍♂️ The NYPD is doing their thing, reviewing footage and interviewing witnesses... I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens next. This whole thing is just really unsettling, you feel me? 😬

I just got back from the most amazing road trip to the beach last summer 🏖️. I was driving with my friends, and we stopped at this tiny café for coffee and snacks. The owner, an older woman, made us these delicious homemade cookies that were literally the best thing I'd ever tasted! 🍪 And then she starts telling us about her travels, visiting all these exotic places around the world... it was so inspiring! 💥 I swear, I'm thinking of selling my car and buying a campervan to travel full-time. Who needs responsibilities, right? 😂 Anyway, back to this baby story... what's up with parents leaving their kids in public places like that? 🤔

I cant even believe this is happening in our city! Leaving a 7-month-old baby alone on the stairs at Penn Station? That's just crazy talk 🤯. I mean, what were they thinking?! Did they really think no one would notice? The Safe Haven Law is there to help new parents who can't care for their kids, not to abandon them in a public place like that.

I'm all for understanding and compassion, but this is just wrong. The NYPD needs to get to the bottom of this ASAP and find out what happened. I hope they're reviewing all the security footage and talking to witnesses. This poor baby deserves answers! 🤷‍♀️

🤔 I'm so glad they found that little girl, but like, what even is going on here? Leaving a 7-month-old baby at Penn Station just because? That's not 'safe haven' if you ask me... 🚫 They're saying it might be under the law, but come on! Who does that to their own child?! 😱 And now they're reviewing footage like that's going to find out who did this... I don't know, man. It just seems so... avoidable? 😔

omg can you even imagine leaving a 7-month-old baby alone at penn station?! 🤯 it's like, what was going on in that person's head? I'm all for parents having a panic moment and doing what they think is best for their kid, but this just feels really wrong. I mean, I know NYC can get super crowded and overwhelming, but someone has to be looking out for these little humans.

I've been following this story, and it's just so sad that the parents are still unknown. It's like, where did they come from? Did they have a plan in place? And what about the baby's feelings?! 🤷‍♀️ I hope the NYPD finds some leads soon and can give that little girl the family she deserves.

it's also weird to think about how this case highlights the Safe Haven Law, which is meant to help new parents. But if someone leaves a 7-month-old baby alone, it doesn't seem like they had things under control. Anyway, my thoughts are with that poor little girl and her future fam 💕

🤔 I'm seriously worried sick about that little girl, you know? A 7-month-old baby left all alone on a train station stairway? It's just heartbreaking. As a parent myself, it's hard not to put ourselves in her shoes and wonder what could've driven someone to do such a thing.

I mean, I get the idea behind Safe Haven Laws, but this case is just different. A newborn baby, yes, that's one thing, but 7 months? That's like leaving a toddler on their own. It's not like she's even able to take care of herself yet! 😨

I hope the police are able to find out who left her there and get them help ASAP. This little girl deserves all the love and support in the world right now. And to whoever did this... just thinking about it is giving me the chills 🤕
