Broncos Stun Giants with Historic Comeback
The Denver Broncos staged one of the most stunning comebacks in NFL history, rallying from a 19-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the New York Giants 33-32 on Sunday.
Trailing 26-8 at halftime, the Broncos scored twice before being thwarted by a Justin Strnad interception. However, Bo Nix's seven-yard touchdown run, followed by RJ Harvey's two-yard catch and another Nix scoring play, set up Wil Lutz for a game-winning 39-yard field goal as time expired.
The Broncos' improbable comeback marked the longest in NFL history when trailing by 18 points or more with less than six minutes remaining. The previous record stood at 1,602 consecutive games won by teams leading by 18 points in the final six minutes.
Lutz's game-winner capped an incredible fourth quarter for Denver, during which they scored on five of six possessions and outscored their opponents 33-32. The Broncos' comeback was made all the more remarkable by the fact that they were blanked at home for the first time in their 66-year history.
New York's victory was marred by a disputed pass interference call on cornerback Riley Moss, which led to a touchdown and a subsequent ejection of coach Sean Payton. The Giants' loss marked their third straight defeat, while the Broncos improved to 5-2 and secured their fourth consecutive win overall.
In other games, Jalen Hurts threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Philadelphia Eagles past the Minnesota Vikings 28-22, while Dak Prescott threw for three touchdowns to help the Dallas Cowboys beat the Washington Commanders 44-22.
