One of China’s most popular apps has the ability to spy on its users, say experts | CNN Business

🤦‍♂️ can't believe these guys at Pinduoduo managed to slip one past the regulators 🙄. I mean, it's not like they were hiding under a rock or anything 🏰. They knew the law was there and still went ahead with exploiting user data... no biggie right? 😒

and can we talk about how "effective" the regulatory clampdown on Big Tech is supposed to be? 🤔 I thought we were supposed to get more transparency and accountability from these companies, not just a slap on the wrist 👋. And now some of those same people are still working at Pinduoduo... something's gotta change here 🔄.

I guess what bothers me most is that this isn't even an isolated incident 🚨. There are plenty of other Chinese tech companies out there with similar lax security practices 😒. We need better oversight, for sure, but also more tech-savvy regulators who can actually understand what's going on 🔍.

I think it's great that some core team members stayed on at Pinduoduo after the malware was removed 🙄. I mean, if they're still working on the app, that means they must have found a way to make it secure, right? And who needs regulatory oversight when you've got talented engineers and product managers like those guys on board? The whole thing seems like a case of "no news is good news" - if no one's talking about it, that means Pinduoduo must be doing everything right 🙃.

idk how can a company as big as Pinduoduo mess up this badly? 🤯 they gotta be paying their devs to sleep with the fishes or something. it's like, basic cybersecurity 101 - you know, don't exploit users' personal data for fun and games... 🙄 the fact that regulators just sat on their hands is even more baffling. i mean, china's got some of the most talented devs in the world, so this just comes off as a major fail. can't say i'm surprised though - we all know how lax enforcement tends to be in china 🤑
