The US-led Gaza Ceasefire Plan has been largely unfulfilled since its implementation two weeks ago, with Israel continuing to use starvation as a weapon of war in the besieged territory.
The Trump administration's peace plan, which brokered the ceasefire, is woefully inadequate and reads more like social media posts than a binding agreement. It includes provisions that should never have been part of political negotiations, such as an Israeli promise to allow 600 trucks of desperately needed supplies into Gaza daily, yet these commitments remain unmet.
International humanitarian law requires Israel to facilitate the rapid supply of international aid, as well as to pay for and provide essential supplies, but instead, the Israeli military has blockaded food, medicine, and other necessities from entering Gaza. This has created conditions that can only lead to the destruction of Palestinians in Gaza, an action that constitutes genocide.
The Biden and Trump administrations have borne legal, moral, and political responsibility for these crimes by continuing to supply billions of dollars of sophisticated weapons to Israel each year, which have been used to block food supplies, unlawfully displace more than 90% of Gaza's population, and kill civilians. Suspending military aid and issuing targeted sanctions could have ended these abuses months ago but the US chose not to.
The current ceasefire plan has included some provisions that acknowledge Palestinian suffering and recognize their right to remain in Gaza, a step forward from Trump's earlier statement calling for "levelling out" Gaza and transferring its population to other countries. However, this is too little, too late, and it remains to be seen if the US will use these visits as an opportunity to clarify that human beings should not be used as bargaining chips.
The situation in Gaza remains dire, with thousands of people dying from malnutrition, infectious disease, and lack of medical care. Over 68,000 Palestinians have been killed since October last year in attacks by Hamas-led fighters against Israeli civilians, and the death toll is expected to rise further unless urgent action is taken to address the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.

! Israel's not taking it seriously at all, just using it as a way to pretend like they're being reasonable while still starving the people of Gaza
